Except in Texas.
Utah man am I | 1:28 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Yes they are good against sub athletic ability! Lets wait and see what happens against a talented defense! Just hope the amazing, outstanding and awesome duo looks a little better than they did against TCU!
Hello | 1:34 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
I love this article, but I want to see what Hall or Collie can do against an athletic defense like Utah;s. Last time they played against speed and ability they looked like they didnt belong on the field with TCU.

No one can stop Max Hall and Austin Collie but TCU. And maybe Utah in 2 weeks.
uh oh.... | 2:20 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Theres the answer kyle! you heard it here first! dbl coverage on austin collie and byu is effectively rendered useless! ha ha clown byu is a joke! its on nov 22 and its gonna be ugly
Don't forget | 7:23 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Double cover on Collie and we go to weapon #2. Can you spell P-I-T-T-A ! Read'em and weep Ute fans !
Eugene | 7:42 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Boy, so far the over-confident Ute lovers have posted well here and could possibly be setting themselves up for a disappointment in 2 weeks.

I'm not predicting a BYU win over the Utes, but I'm sure hoping for one just to silence the rabble.

As a Y fan, I never go read Ute articles and make evil comments since I respect what Utah has accomplished this year, but it seems like some Uters love to read BYU articles and show their lack of sportsmanship week in and week out.

No surprise . . .
In the Stands | 7:44 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Sure they can be stopped. All it takes is an effective pass rush and moderately athletic corners and safeties. TCU already proved this conclusively.

All this will do is work up the Utah secondary. Way to go!
Utes up in the night | 7:44 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Pathetic, nothing for Utes to do late on a Saturday night but scour the internet for articles on BYU so they can post negative comments.

BYU certainly was beaten up by TCU, but oddly enough Collie still got over 100 yards in that game--seems like it was more the rest of the team that was subpar. We'll see who's hooting in the next couple of weeks.
Bear Laker | 7:53 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
If I recall correctly, Collie had well over a hundred yards in receiving against TCU. I would expect the stupid yewts to not notice that. BYU stopped themselves against TCU. It will not happen against the yewts. I love it when the yewts think so highly of themselves because the fall will be so great when BYU kicks their butts on the 22nd.
Go Cougars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what... | 7:53 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
8 straight games over 100 yards, I believe that includes the tcu game.
Anonymous | 8:03 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Double coverage for Collie, trip up slow Unga, keep pressure on Hall and you will have no problem stopping their one dimensional offense. Sorry Y fans you had your lime light the last two years and definitley not a bad year thus far, but it Utah's turn to be the champs. TCU was a way bigger worry to me than BYU is. Just stay in the top 25 till 11/22, good luck and go UTES!!!!

Eugene - Isn't it great that we are so much better than those dispicable ewet fans.
falcon's beak | 8:26 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
A lot of the comments are pretty cheap. Let's be honest. utah has a good team and should run the table. BYU has a good team, but secondary very suspect and forget the running game. BYU may have had its last win.
Good Idea -- Double Cover Collie | 8:33 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
That would have been a good idea on 4th and 18. Someone should have thought of it!
Anon: | 8:33 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
all you have to do is double team Collie and get pressure on Max? Gee, what a concept. Why hasn't anyone but TCU figured that out?

...maybe because you have to have the athletes.
poor people | 8:36 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
do any ute fans have jobs, all the tickets to the byu utah game are for sell, thank you for being poor and unable to hold down a job, so that byu fans can buy game tickets,
Ernest T. Bass | 8:42 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Awesome Collie and Maximus Hall simply cannot be stopped.
They should make a BCS bowl.
Against Utah? No way! | 8:43 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Guys seriously, watching Collie and Hall against average defenses makes them look very good. When there is discipline and speed on the opposing team (can you say UTAH!?!) then I think these guys get shut down. They are overrated.
Cougar Guy | 8:45 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Look Ute fans, I'm glad for you. I watched and cheered as you beat TCU. But in your effort to trash the Cougars win over SDSU just remember it took more than a little luck for you to beat TCU in SLC. Most good teams would not have missed two chip shot field goals. So don't strut like turkeys until and if you've beaten the Cougars. Until the 22nd, just be happy BYU is playing well.
true blue | 8:47 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Let's focus on Air Force. They are fast this year. They ran all over CSU yesterday. Utah is the least of my worries.
Re: Anonymous | 8:53 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
I love how you try to say that the Cougars are one dimensional, but list THREE of their weapons!
BlueBoy | 9:02 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
I'm more impressed with Collie than Hall, especially after watching some of those Big 12 QBs play this weekend. Hall's accurate, but doesn't have near the zip some of these other QBs from the Big 12 have.

Collie's the real deal. Shows that he has "football speed." Doubt he'll raise eyebrows in combines (many receivers will have faster 40 times), but with pads on in games, he'll outshine most of them. He's just plain smarter than many of the athletic types.

41-12 was a nice win, but should've been more convincing. It shouldn't hurt BYU in the polls though.

And, WYOMING did the MWC top teams some SOS good! Wow! What a win, even if Tennessee is the SEC's cellar-dweller this year, but so is Wyoming in the MWC (with SDSU).

Air Force should get ranked this week. They only have two losses. Wonder if the pollsters can stomach having four MWC teams ranked at the same time? If they did, and BYU beat them next week, it'd sure help BYU's SOS and pollster eyes.

Then the showdown against Utah could be quite the battle. I don't think Utah will stumble at SDSU next week.

Go Cougars!

7-32

13-10

Enough said.
re: bear laker | 9:50 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
the cougs stopped themselves against tcu? i know the sky is always blue in your world, but how about all the grass, buildings, etc??
Re: Eugene 7:42 am | 9:54 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Tell you what, brother Eugene, go over to the article "Cougs win their 18th straight home game by beating Aztecs" and tell me again about the lack of sportsmanship of Utah fans. My wife graduated from BYU and is absolutely disgusted with what she is reading from the mouths of BYU fans.

You might not post on Utah articles, brother Eugene, but your cronies certainly do and their comment are as vile as they come.
In the locker room | 10:10 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Can't be stopped? Thanks... that headline is going on our bulletin board.
Re: Poor people | 10:13 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
From Vegas Ute:

It appears that the screeners are more liberal today. Must be a new trend after the election.

The tent line for tickets @ RE (11/22)ran from the ticket office door to the East side of the stadium. Everybody camped out just for the chance to go to the game 11/22.

Maybe all of the tickets your referring to are the MYOPIC Cuber fanz who want to dump their tickets, as there will be dispair 'o plenty after the CUBER loss on 11/22. Better for the Cuber Fanzz to stay at home and watch the game where they will be close to their comfort foods. (Cuber Tails / Frozen Dairy Products)

It will probably be a very long game, as the CUBERS 1 dimensional offense will be behind, throwing pass after pass, scratching and clawing like a kitten hanging onto a yarn string placed there for the UTES amusement.

Please don't lose to AFA. You'll take the fun out of the party.

It will be fun nailing the Cuber Tail to the barn.

Get Over It | 10:15 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Great win by BYU yesterday. Hall and Collie are a great combination and very fun to watch.

All of the Utah fans should just head back to the gas station and get to work. Literally, no one outside of SLC cares about your team. Your fans are the most classless fans in all of sports...without question. Why are you wasting time commenting on a story about BYU?

My brother graduated from the UofU and he can't stand going to games in their stadium any more because either the stadium is half empty (almost always) and he can't stand the drunken stupor that comes from most of the fans during the games. He gave me his tickets to the BYU-Utah game later this month. Can't wait!!
re Collie, BYU & Utah | 10:16 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
You can triple cover Collie and he will still get over 100 yards and touchdowns if you cannot get to Hall. The Utes will beat BYU by double figures if they consistely get hits on the quarterback. If not, it will likely come down to the last drive and as a Utah fan, I don't know if my heart can take it. Although Brian Johnson has had his own two minute offense magic, I think the edge would go to BYU in the late game heroics category. Hopefully, Kruger and Misi can get around the edge and it will not come down to the last drive once again.

As for Collie, I understand how his comment about BYU winning football games comes down to his and their faith is one that grinds on Utah fans as characteristic of everything that is so annoying about BYU. However, he is absolutely the real deal on the field. The best receiver BYU has had and also not half as arrogant and annoying as Eric Drage was.
Anonymous | 10:23 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
if TCU played with HALF the intensity against OU or Utah as it did with BYU, they'd be in the national title race!!!
Different emotions...different team
Dyanamic Duo | 10:33 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Go ahead and put triple coverage on Collie opponents so that Pitta racks up 200 plus yards in receiving. Double cover Dennis and you'll have to deal with an injury-free Michael Reed(what a stud). Or double him up and deal with Unga, the best back in the MWC! He is fast and explosive and a bruiser. Look out Utah! Use all the bulletin board material you want because you're gonna need it! TCU missed three chip shot field goals and one sure touchdown. It wasn't your defense that made them screw up there either. Strap it on Utah because it's going to be a tough one from start to finish. BYU will win another heart stopper in the final minute and repeat deja vu all over again. Johnson has had his final minute 4th quarter comeback this season. BYU 27 Utah 23

...You don't have to stop Collie to shut down BYU.
Whoa Nellie | 11:08 a.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Eugene was only commenting about the Utah posters on this article, husband of a BYU graduate. She and you need to think a little before posting.

In the locker room: If you are a Utah player it won't matter what is posted on your bulletin board since nobody there can read, let alone spell. Heck, even your vaunted Urban Meyer can't even spell BYU. He and so many of your fair-weather fans can't even spell BYU as is evidenced by their continuous reference to "the team down south." Get an education then a job.
Brett | 12:11 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
I wonder how good Collie would be if he was ever flagged for offensive PI. That dude pushes off all the time. I know the blue Kool-Aid drinkers will say "he's just getting space" but any objective viewer will agree with me.
get a life | 12:36 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Both byu and utah fans talk is cheap. It will be settled on the 22nd. Until then give it a rest. I have never read so many stupid comments in my life. Don't you have anything better to do.

Die hard ute
Ute Graduate/ Y fan | 12:56 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
The score of the Y/U game will be 17-14, BYU, with BYU scoring in the last second. Collie will take it from the 50 yard line and run untouched. Take it to the bank.
RE: re Collie, BYU, and Utah | 1:03 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Thanks! I'm a Cougar fan through and through, but appreciate your comments and the class you show in your post showing both sides fairly objectively!
St. Louis | 1:14 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
I'm worried about our secondary for sure, but I'm banking on a big BYU win November 22. We just have to get by Air Force without any injuries (fingers crossed). By the way, great job Utes pulling off the win against TCU, what luck!
Re: Eugene 7:42 am | 1:15 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
"My wife graduated from BYU and is absolutely disgusted with what she is reading from the mouths of BYU fans."

Think about that for a minute, and see if you can figure out what is wrong with that sentence. Then go get your GED.
re Collie, BYU & Utah | 1:21 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
"As for Collie, I understand how his comment about BYU winning football games comes down to his and their faith is one that grinds on Utah fans as characteristic of everything that is so annoying about BYU"

He didn't say that. "If you do the right things on and off the field it pays off." "Off the field" -- as in the weight room, the film room, the training table curfew.

Hear what you want to hear, then judge people for judging. Nice job.
Max | 1:27 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Wait until Sean Smith get assigned to Collie on Nov 22nd. That will be a really fun battle to watch. My prediction.... we'll see about as much out of Collie in that game as we saw against TCU.

Go Utes!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Max | 2:14 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Who is Sean Smith? Never heard of him.
To Max | 2:30 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Collie beat TCU defenders for over 100 yards just he did against Utah last year.
True Coug | 2:41 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Yeah, it would be wise to put Sean Smith on Collie because we all know that you're stud Bryce McCain couldn't hold Collie's jock last year. 4th and 18 ring a bell? And Collie got 100+ yards against TCU so you're saying you hope to see as much production against the Utes too? Great logic.
Anonymous | 2:48 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
So collie will have another 100+ game against the U too? im looking forward to it!
Enough | 2:55 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Last year it was McCain will stop Collie, this year it's Smith. Pick who you want. Not gonna happen.

As for Brett and the PI comment - why don't you learn a little about football before making ignorant comments. It's clear you don't understand the rule.
wow | 3:24 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
people who say ute fans are the most classless they have seen haven't been to a big conference rivalry outside this state, or they live in a bubble and alcohol and trash talk scares them.
re poor people | 3:30 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
wow. What a comment. Pretty sure tickets are sold out, and I waited saturday morning from 530 to get a student ticket. Please, do us all a favor and keep your thoughts to yourself.
Skippy | 5:23 p.m. Nov. 9, 2008
Way to go Max and collie
