Mark Crockett lost Council District 4, not 6. And Max Burdick won, which finally, finally gives Salt Lake County the level head it has needed for years.

Level Head?

Under the current Democratic Mayor, our county government has grown faster than inflaction and is now cutting services because it runs on every penny it can get. The county offers no hope in this time of crisis because it has become accustom to spending all it gets.

Dave

And more Democrats is a good thing?

one-party rules Utah

Level Head:
If a super majority of republicans in the legislature quadruples the size of state government in the past 12 years, then that's ok with you. The only difference is that they are republicans and that makes it ok.

Poor Salt Lake County

We've already seen how Democrat rule in Salt Lake City has created a cesspool that is only saved by the development projects of the Church.

Now, we get to see how Democrats can wreck havoc in the rest of the county. The entire valley is doomed.

I'm glad I moved out of Salt Lake County while the opportunity was good!

Mrs.

Go Utah democrats! Utah very badly needs a two-party system. Make those republicans work. Give people a choice. Thanks for not giving up.

ut cnty loves repub, move there

i'm glad you moved out of salt lake county too...

democrat here

Democrat here, Obama supporter here, Biden supporter here, new Congress supporter here, etc.

How will Utah fare under the national trend?

Not well. Not well.

But... that's life. You dance with the girl who brought yah.

all i want to know

is "was buttars left in?

Former mayor, current jerk Rocky Andersen did nothing but cause trouble in Salt Lake. Out of all democrats, Utah democrats are the worst. They're not interested in doing what's best for the state, they're only interested in doing the opposite of what the Republicans are doing.
That said, I voted against Chaffetz and went for the Democrat. Nevertheless, Utah Democrats need to get their heads on straight and care about Utah, not just opposing the Republicans.

Conservative Mormon

Any state that sends Bill Orton to congress, three consecutive terms, deserves the term "liberal".

Funny... most states that voted for Mike Huckabee, went to McCain/Palin. Most states that went to Mitt Romney (Nevada, Massachusetts, Michigan), elected Barack Obama.

So, who is to blame for this liberal debacle? Anyone that didn't support Mike Huckabee.

Don't blame me - I voted for Huckabee.

Soviet Utah

Utah is still a one party state and will now have virtually no voice in national politics.

Testy

This will be a real test for "Obama the Uniter".

Conservatives have deep foundations that will not be swayed easily. It will be amazing if Obama can compromise at all. He certainly will not need to.

Huckabee?

Please......don't make me laugh. Huckabee is joke....plus he is an anti-Mormon bigot. NO THANKS

Re: Huckabee what???

Romney would have won most of the states McCain won and so would have Huckabee. What the Republicans needed to do was win some states where the evangelicals were losing grip. Probably the Obama momentum or tide was too much but Romney would have had a better chance. He is popular in Colorado and Nevada, would have gave the Republicans a fighting chance in New Hampshire and Michigan, and probably Pennsylvania and Ohio as well where Romney's economic acumen would have helped. The only state where Huckabee might have had an edge over both McCain or Romney was Virginia (maybe)...

Roy Webb

Well, this is the thing..as a Mormon in Western Australia, I cannot fathom how enlightened people could accept the McCain campaign tactics. A campaign full of dirty tricks and lies. We are looking forward to the greatest show of leadership of any past President. God bless America!
