Millsap is my favorite Jazz player and has been for quite a while. I'm really hoping that utah has enough smarts to keep this guy. Get rid of whoever you have to to make room for this guy.

GO MILLSAP!!!

Teja

I just love the fact that he will be a "Restricted" free agent after this season. We will let other teams determine his value and then match the offer sheet. I'd rather keep Millsap over Okur and sign Boozer. Then we should aim for a defensive minded Center. Our perimeter is real good now offense wise, we really don't need Okur's offense.
Bottom Line:

Keep Millsap and Boozer, get rid of Okur.

Eddie

It was easier against the Clippers, yet given no injuries, Millsap could easily surpass Malone's record. Just in case Boozer decides to leave, Millsap will be the go to man. With fewer minutes and no championship ring this year, Boozer will probably leave.

More Paul Millsap - Less Sloan

Simply put - Paul Millsap is THE reason I watch the Jazz play. Great article - I'll acknowledge that without D.Will, Andre and the pass first mentality of the Jazz, Players like Paul might not get all the points; however, NOBODY in the NBA works harder, or is more of a pleasure to watch than Paul Millsap. I hope he gets ALL the money, and that the Jazz have to pay a penalty for exceeding the cap - so that we can keep some quality in town.

My opinion...

Let Boozer leave...keep Millsap at the end of the season...

RE: Teja
I agree with the first part of your comment, but disagree with the second. I really think that Boozer will be gone after next year. I think the Jazz will (should) try to keep Okur and Millsap, and let Boozer find his fortune.

I bought my Paul Millsap jersey (#24) the first day that they became available at the Energy Solutions Arena Jazz Store. I love the guy! His hustle and entheusiam are something to watch. He is an example to the whole team. I just hope that I can continue to wear my Millsap jersey on game days for many years to come.

I love Millsap and his game and how he plays. Poor guy, how will he ever guy buy on $66,000 a month?

Millsap

I agree with the first two comments that Millsap is great. I would actually rather have the Jazz let Boozer walk, and the keep Millsap, and Memo. I think Boozer's time with the Jazz has inflated his value in the league. He is likely to be offered a contract that is higher than what he is worth, and I think his production will decrease a little if he leaves the Jazz, and their offense designed to help the power forward shine.

I'm not so sure Millsap is any better as a defender than Boozer, except maybe for rebounding and maybe shot blocking, but position defense, I'm not sure.

Millsap has yet to prove he can deliver consistently offensively, which Boozer has shown he can do. We'd be better of keeping them both.

What we really need is a decent center. Okur is better as a forward. Let's hope Kouf works into that position over the next few years. Not expecting Fez to, though he could be the backup.

This is gonna be a fun season for watching the Jazz.

Let Boozer leave? Boozer puts up a double double every night. Millsap doesn't even reach a double double and he is the knight in shining armor. If we lose either Boozer or Millsap, we will be an average team at best. You don't win without guys who can rebound and score in the post. Millsap is best suited to come off the bench along with AK to bring energy to the game. Yes Millsap could be a starter but he is in no way as good as Boozer or could replace Boozer.

I have been impressed with Boozer this year -- not because of his scoring but because of his defense. I can tell he is finally trusting his teammates and leaving his guy entirely when the situation calls for it. Last year he hardly ever did that. He also is playing one-on-one defense with much more determination. In basketball the best defenders cannot stop the best offensive players, but they can make things tougher on them -- forcing more difficult shots, keeping the time clock running and slightly reducing shooting percentages. That's all we ask of any Jazz player, and in those respects Boozer in past years has been abominable. But I have to give due to the Booze -- he's working hard at D and earning my respect and most likely Sloan's begrudging respect, too.

One game! One game and you're going to junk Boozer. You people must be daft!

The guys I watch Jazz games with have dubbed Millsap "Glue" because he is always stuck to the ball. Whether its be rebounds, loose balls, turnovers, seems like he is always coming up with the ball. Good job Glue

Easy there Eddie

Any time you say the words "Easily surpass Malone's record" you lose all credibility. Millsap had 24 points and 9 rebounds. All Malone did was average 25 points and 10 rebounds over 1476 regular season games. So, all Millsap would have to do is average 26 points per game for the next 20 years to bring his averages up to Malone's. I agree with you Eddie, "barring injury, Millsap could easily surpass Malone's records." So easy in fact, that no other player in the history of basketball has been able to do it. Good point.

Tommyk

Millsap is a Beast, and I love the guy. But he is an undersized power forward, so until he can put those number day in and day out, then I'm okay with leting go Boozer, but we must get Boozer sign!!! His defense is questionable but Boozer is a 20 10 guy and he prove it.

Memo

Memo to those who want to dump Memo:

He's a better rebounder and defender than Boozer.

He can be on the floor on the same time as either Boozer or Milsap, since he can go inside, outside, or put the ball on the floor.

He's one of the top ten centers in the NBA, a former All-Star, and in case you haven't paid attention, good centers are MUCH harder to find than power forwards -- just look look at the Jazz: Three good power forwards (Boozer, Milsap, AK), one good center and a host of pretenders.

my thoughts

It is funny that everyone has decided that we should keep AK. He really is back to 04 AK. I love it. Money wise it will be really difficult to keep Okur AK, Boozer and Millsap - but not impossible

Next year Millsap will be restricted and I can't really imagine any team offering him open cap money - when there is so many players coming out in 2010. It does not make sense for team's under the cap to offer him 9 million next year when James, Wade, Bosh are free unrestricted free agents in 2010. Some team over the cap will offer Millsap the full mid level exception and the Jazz needs to match that.

Miles

Well I know I've been high on CJ for a while, but now I'll finally admit his 4.0 pts and 3 Rb a game are aweful for a starter. He may be the worst starting player in the NBA.
As far as Milsap goes... he's the man!

Please-Please

Lets not get carried away as fans as to who should stay and who needs to leave. Thats strickly a management decision, and players demands with their agents. It would be in my interests if I was a player to get a competitive salary if I deserved it and at the same time not bankrupt my team and also leave enough payroll for other players to get a fair amount. That will be the only way a team can surround themselves with enough quality players to compete for a title and not exceed the luxury tax set by the NBA. Selfishness is never a good thing. After all when is enough--enough? Money doesn't solve everything anyway, but everyone should be paid fairly. In other words I believe that too many players in pro sports want and expect more than their fair and alloted share. Keep the team together guys and accept or expect your other teamates to be treated fair also. These salaries today are borderline ridiculous.
