High school football 5A preview: Davis at Alta

Prediction
Alta 49
Davis 12
Davis 17-14
R.E. to Davis' D: Jordan has an awsome quarterback, an offensive line that can protect him, and a core of receivers that can catch the ball. That is how Jordan put up 36 on the Hawks. Plus it's a heated RILVALRY! Also, look what Alta's offense did to Jordan. That's right, 38pts!
Alta 48 Davis 7
"The Darts can put points on the board, just ask Riverton about that. " WHAT??????
Putting points on the board against Alta is a lot different than putting points on the board v. Riverton.
My nephew played for Bingham last year. I remember going to that playoff game and seeing the confidence in the Davis fans and they went crazy on the first TD, but after that, I am not sure they had a first down. I see the same type of game vs. Alta on Friday. 42-6
Davis - 10
If Davis is lucky enough to make a field goal?
As for Davis, I think it's easy to say you have a great defense when you play teams with horrible offense. Not saying all teams up north are awful just being objective here. Region 1 can't hardly score against itself. What I saw last week was an overhyped defense from to teams that were pretty comparable to Davis.
FYI- Region 1 teams.......keep in mind Kearns, Hunter and Riverton are OUT. Different story with PG, Alta and Skyline. If you don't know what I am talking about, check back here Friday night when reality hits you as hard as the Alta D line.
Skyline at Layton
Skyline 27-24(ot)
Jordan at Bingham
Bingham 38-35(ot)
Syracuse at Pleasant Grove
Pleasant Grove 31-14
Davis at Alta
Alta 35-7
I believe that two games will be over very quickly, and the other two will not... layton, bingham, skyline, and jordan are 4 of the top 6 teams in the state, and that I am certain... Bingham-Jordan game will be an absolute thriller, and I wouldn't miss it for the world... The skyline game will be close, but I'm picking skyline to take an early semi-big lead, and have layton come back to force overtime.... either way, overtime or not I think that these two are games I would not miss depending on where I lived!
Alta 42 (Alta's D 6)
Davis 0 (Davis will not have more than 90 yards)
Alta 21
Davis 10
Region 1 doesn't generate enough offense to hang with the big boys. That's why your defense is listed as the 'Best'! Give me a break; there is no offense to challenge you!
On Friday, you'll run into the states best passing offense. Try and get to Ammon Olsen by way of blitz, and he will eat you alive by his ability to find the open receivers, and also his ability to run.
I see this one being over by half time! Alta 49 Davis 7
back to the davis alta game.. davis will pull one of the biggest upsets in state history! watch close people cause cowser/karya/lindsay/t-car/rave/fowler/hinds/burton/welk will shine. one day we will be making a movie about this game.. we shall call it "The day the darts destroyed the Hawks"
Lets kick some butt Davis.. Impossible is nothing!!
Davis 28-24 2OT
Alta will crush Davis. Won't even be close.
Bingham will beat a very competitive Jordan team.
Skyline will narrowly defeat Layton.
PG will have their hands full with Syracuse, but will prevail.
With all things considered, region 1 could possibly have two teams still in contention after friday. Davis would not be one of them.
Alta isn't even the best team in the state (even though they think they are). So just play your best and have fun. GOOD LUCK!!!
Great Alta Education!!!!!!!
Your just upset your not our # 1 team we want to play.
Youre is always a contraction of you are. If youve written youre, try substituting you are. If it doesnt work, the word you want is your. Your writing will improve if youre careful about this.
Region 1 is a close race because the kids play where they live. So instead of having one dominant team with kids from all over Davis County, the talent is spread evenly.
Salt Lake kids should try this method it makes for a lot more fun and pure competition. If Region 3 kids did this then they might have more than one team still in the race.
Same with Alta. I wonder when the east benchers will decide to send all their kids to Brighton so they can have a succesful team, like they did when they were called the "Beagles".
Some teams match up better than others. Layton and Skyline is a good matchup. Layton's stingy D against Skyline's potent O. Layton offensive strength is on the ground. Skyline has good run defense. Skylines weakness has been defending the pass. If Layton can pass effectively they will probably win. It was just a prediction. Its a good matchup.
My main reason for posting @ 11:13 to let DHS know that the Alta Davis matchup is not a good one for Davis. Anyway you dissect this one it comes up Alta. Alta big
I know this is not the Layton thread, but will comment on one thing about the poster @ 9:16 am. You said, "if" Layton can pass effectively they'll probably win. Layton can pass, will just have to see if they bring their A passing game....which I think they wil.
