The Deseret News has had a longstanding policy of not publishing letters-to-the-editor addressing political contests the day before and day of the election.

We are applying that same moratorium to comments on election stories beginning Sunday. We will apply the moratorium on older stories as well.

The rationale for the policy is two-fold: Give voters time to cool down and reflect on the choices they will make on Tuesday; and, avoid playing a role in influencing voters by posting possible false, last-minute attacks on candidates.

Thanks for your participation and don't forget to vote.

My husband and I voted last week at the Weber County Building... We came down the elevator with 3 couples... a handful of people were getting on when we got off. The line we stood in was nowhere near the size of the one we stood in on the primary. It seemed very efficient to me.

1 set of election people with the help of a computers to verify addresses were of course a change from the polling places of yore, but maybe the successes of early voting should be studied to mainstream into the elections of years to come.

Watching all of the news footage of early voters in other parts of the USA made me Thankful that I got to cast my early vote right here in the Bee Hive State!!!
