Cottonwood may be on a mission to set things right with Timpview, but after this game it's pretty clear there are chinks in the armor. Now maybe Cottonwood fans will back off on all the rhetoric...Orem scores on that last drive and gets a two point conversion, they win simple as that. This is the same Orem team that lost to Tooele and Springville.
Would've, Could've, Should've-A win is a win and champs find ways to do it when it matters.
Orem lost this one, Colts did not win it. I've seen a lot of region 6 games and Orem, on this night played better than any region 6 team. Too bad it was just for one quarter. If they are the #4 team in region 7, region 7 rules.
Cottonwood is on no mission to prove anything to anyone but themselves. Just like Timpview who had a couple of bad games, but still prevailed in the end and as their coach said, "It's a win and will take it." No wishful thinking, cause it didn't and will never happen with Orem scoring on the last drive and gets a two point conversion. Cottonwood came thru and won the game. I believe in the team and the coaching staff. Go Colts all the way to the top!
If.. If's and buts were candy and nuts we all have a great Christmas...The bottom line is Cottonwood won and Orem lost..Obviously you've never experianced playoff football, games are closer teams play harder..Orem played a great game..
Cottonwood has a great team and played well, for most of the game. But Orem has been coming on the last three games and with a now healthy Tyler Boulter they are the team they might otherwise have been all season.
Surprised to see this outcome. I really thought Orem was going to get destroyed.
Nonetheless, good job CW. A win is a win.
Cottonwood is a great team. Do hope they make it to the finals. At least they still garner interest. Timpview has been so dominate, they are boring. Always up 40-50 to nothing at half time. So boring that neither the SL Tribune nor Deseret News even wrote up their 50-6 victory over West. CW has done a great job of creating a dominant team to compete with TV....news media is still interested in what CW can accomplish. 33 victories in a row for TV has caused many to lose interest.
CW better hope someone takes them out early before they get ripped by TV... then everyone can talk about what could have been...didn't TV beat Orem by like 5 TD's?
If Cottonwood keeps focusing on Timpview, they will not have a chance to play them this year. By talking about the T-Birds, the Cottonwood coach has shown a lack of respect for his future opponents. But hey, what else would you expect from a program that has absolutely no class?
The Colts will never win a state title as long as "things" continue the way they are. It is difficult to "persuade" a team player to leave his friends, his school, and his community, to play somewhere else. It is contradictory to the term "team player." Sure, Cottonwood has the best talent, they just lack the team concept. They will never have it, because it goes against the nature of their marquee players. It has worked at other places, but at those places, the teams were being led by men that had class.
Go ahead and label me a hater, but I believe the majority of high school fans in Utah are going to pull against C-wood on Friday.
Oh, I almost forgot. I've seen Cottonwood play three times this year. They're not that good. They don't even compare to Timpview.
you need to understand it wasn't or isn't c woods goal to win the first round of the playoffs, it is their goal to get to state and beat timpview. So i'm not surprised they overlooked the pitiful orem team looking ahead to the big game. Nice effort on the part of orem, but really it wasn't the same cottonwood team that won ten games in a row
@ 8:03.
Since when has Timpview had a "bad" game? By beating a team by only 30 points?
They haven't lost in more than 2 years. Most of those games have been either shutouts or blowouts.
Do your simple math, Cottonwood at home beat Orem by only one touchdown. Timpview on the road, destroyed Orem by 30+.
Furthermore, Timpview destroyed Cottonwood last year in the playoffs. Timpview is arguably a better team than last year.
Why would Timpview be concerned about Cottonwood? Why would Cottonwood have any hope for that game?
Get ready for your beatdown Cottonwood, if you're even fortunate enough to meet the T-Birds!
Orem did get DESTROYED. it was 24-0. the defense just got a little too comfortable, and the offense had a few very questionable calls.
ITS THE PLAYOFFS, REGARDLESS OF RECORD, ANYONE CAN BEAT ANYONE AT ANY TIME.
what happened to the Martinez Kid? why wasn't he playing?
Just to clarify Timpview did NOT beat orem by 5 touchdowns. They beat them by 2, orem has been battling injuries all year. Kids who have been starting 2 - 3 years have been playing injured or out for the season. Cottonwood is a good team dont get me wrong but they havent been hit like that all year.. maybe against layton. Sofele was getting punished by orems defense. He didn't really know what hit him a couple times when their linebackers came and destroyed him. Good luck to sofele when TV's safeties have a 15 yard sprint before they annihilate him on the edge. If they (CW) end up playing TV... it will be a long game if CW doesn't come out from the get go. Both teams have high powered offenses. Cottonwood's defense is pretty poor when TV's is their bright spot. CW Linebacking corp is not very athletic, DB's are pretty good, and line is decent. I would love if CW won though... good luck to them
To getting ahead of ourselves:
Do not understand the team concept? Their defense is all team. They do not have one stand alone star. Their offense is spread around.
The class comment? You must be thinking of last years team. They are very discipline this year. Yes you are a hate to Cottonwood, and yes most of the state is too, but that is just because CW went from nothing to a good team in a short amount of time.
I'm with you. The entire state except the cw transfer students and their parents want to see cwood get the beat down they deserve.
You must have failed your simple math in HS, as TV only beat Orem by 18. The final score was 30-12 for TV. Also TV only beat PG 10-6 and from what I understand were Lucky to win that game (Thats lees than 30 on both games). So don't get way ahead of yourself and think that CW is going to play like this again next week or the week after. The Defense had a meltdown in the 4th and it will be corrected this week. CW will be there in the End to Face TV and we will see who shows up for TV and CW, Also who cares about what happened last year between CW and TV. 2 different teams dramatically.
Hypocrisy...
Timpview beat Orem 30-12 that's not exactly 30+, must be that Timpview education at work!
Orem played the Tooele game with mostly JV players, both RBs, 3 of 4 LBs and the safety were all out for that game. Still no excuse for losing to Tooele, but not exactly the team that played Cottonwood.
The rest of 4A should know Cottonwood is definitely vulnerable. I think they way more bark than bite! TV will beat CW without much trouble.
You must be sleep deprived or something. None of what you said isn't even true, let alone your conclusions being reasonable.
Timpview 10 PG 6 Not a 30+ point victory (maybe even considered a bad game?).
Timpview only beat the worst team in Region7, Payson, by 30.
TV beat Orem 30-12, not exactly 30+ points either.
And darn sure, this years TV team is nowhere near as good as last years team, quit dreaming.
TV's days are numbered... but not this year. I hate to say it but TV will beat CW if they meet for the title. I think CW will go down before that though.
