Quoting Jefferson,,, I love history and one thing is that we are moving forward,
as the Prsident is elected, rather Obama or McCain, both will answer to God
Almighty, as will the people when the time comes.
As far as Mormons we are CHRISTIANS, as Christ gave his life for all, and that was to choose right over wrong. If we were to look at *Catholics, they too have a leader, they have the *Pope, that leads them. So why bash UTAHNS, **when we are all over the nation and world now**. We are from the same Creator from the beginning of Adam and Eve. Mormon is a handle like (Baptist, Luthern etc.) We are Christian. Just as much as the (Baptist, Luthern etc.)are. Each to their own believes, and faith in voting for what we feel is right at the time. And hoping that they help the Nation out regardless of Religion (believes).

This is one Mormon and registered republican who is pretty fed up with the
republican party. Maybe if a bunch of us joined the democratic party and
reformded it a little (threw out the homosexuals and abortionists) it would be
an acceptable party.

I must disagree with Ross. Jazzing up the campaign with an unknown running mate
is a risky venture when 1 McCain's age and health are not ideal for the
demands of the job, and 2 The running mate should be someone who COULD step in
as president on no notice. The choice of Palin seems more like that of Quayle
than anything else. We should want someone as VP who's NOT like the woman
next door, but someone FAR more qualified than almost ANYONE we know.

I'm so tired of "Christians" saying Mormons don't believe in
Jesus Christ.
Their logic is not even kindergarten level. Let me get this straight - "Christians" believe that Mormons can't be "Christian" because we believe that Satan is a child of God? That may be a point we don't agree on, but I can't see how that disqualifies Mormons from Christianity. Whose son is Satan, then, if God is the "Father of all?"
The Christians' also state that Mormons must accept the Nicean Creed in order to be accepted. And yet no one can really explain what it means.
I and I alone will decide if I am Christian or not and ultimately Christ himself will judge me. Until then, I reject the "Christian" claim that I am some kind of heathen.

I have some breaking news for you Utah Republican LDS voters. The Republican
Party will never....let me repeat that.....never allow Mitt Romney to be their
presidential candidate. No matter how much you want to believe that the GOP
accepts you as "Christians", they don't. The right wing
evangelical base of the GOP looks at the Mormon church as a cult. Oh,
they're more than willing to pay you lip service and take your votes, but
they'll never let you sit at the table.

To the LDS and non-LDS alike; I just do not care what others think of my
religion or beliefs. I believe them and if others don't, I can live with
that.
Why do people get so uptight that other people criticize their religious beliefs? From a purely worldly point-of-view, religion does not seem reasonable . . . it is actually part of the hidden definition of faith, isn't it?
I am LDS and although I love my faith and find that it gives me strength, I am not "proud" of it from the standpoint that I brag about it. I just try to live what I know is true and try to raise a family that will send children into the world better people than their father was/is.
I am sorry Romney did not get chosen, but when you get right down to it, the President is pretty limited in their power and I am not going to blame people of other religions for criticizing something they do not understand like Mormonism . . . none of us have enough time to study all the issues put before us, although we really should try; LDS and non-LDS alike.

Anonyous: Stereotyping "conservatives" is not productive. You will
find people who call themselves conservative answering your question multiple
ways. I'm dissapointed with these forums. People just talk right past
each other and feel they score points with their clever comments and leading
questions. I doubt few who read these comments actually are persuaded to
believe one thing or another.
I'm happy to know Mormons are free to believe and vote as they please. Harry Reid is liberal, Gordon Smith and Mitt Romney are moderate, and (hmmm, I can't really think of any legitimate or reliably conservative Mormons).
Anyway, to answer your question personally, I'd say I'd prefer a President who defends the Constitution, limits government regulation and spending, keeps taxes low, stays out of religion, and is tolerant to other beliefs whether he/she were Atheist, Muslim, Evangelical, Black, Asian, Male, Female, Republican, or Democrat. Unfortunately, I haven't found that person since Reagan (who, by the way, respected religion and didn't seem to fear Mormons).

Hate to break it to you, but many no longer believe in being
"rewarded" or "punished" for "sin". Most believe
in a Higher Power of some sort, but not the kind that so many on this website
speaks of. There are numerous disasters in the world and every religion has
suffering from them. "God" does not "pick and choose" who
is affected in them. There are "blessings" in this world for
everyone. And there are hurtful times in this world for everyone. Things just
happen and people need to find the good in all. We need to stop thinking of any
people as better or closer to God than others.

How utterly ridiculous to accuse LDS of rejecting Obama due to his religion.
Absurd to the nth degree and a downright lie. My rejection of Abama is because
of so many highly suspicious alliances, his scary past, his refusal to
demonstrate true loyalty to America, his proven far left voting record and
finally he HAS NO EXPERIENCE to qualify him to be our Head of State and our
Commander-In-Chief, plus he has taken the term "flip-flopper" to a new
world record level. Do you need more, there is lot's more if you need more.

Wow, Obama is trash? Amazing that such a man of trash has accomplished so much
in his life. He was not raised by his father, he was raised by his Christian
mother and her parents - so what if he has a muslim heritage. Muslims are equal
people on this earth and are no more guilty than the Christian Crudaders who
teach hate and bigotry in the name of Jesus Christ. America is in deep doo doo
because of it's own ignorance and for sure many have been brainwashed that
very few think outside of the box
