The problem is they all live together and are not technically married in the laws eyes, so they are not breaking any laws that can be prosecuted unless there is underage girls involved. FYI In most states marriage at age 15 or 16 is legal with parents consent! So, the question goes how can you prosecute them for living and raising families together when millions of Americans have sex outside of marriage with multiple women/partners all the time! Look at what goes on in Nevada with "group activities" anything goes escorts and legal whore houses! Where do we draw the line at being the national sex police???
how many tv shows have been made about catholics? LOTS.
Get a grip People, Utah and mormons are God! Nor are they Holy People.
Utahs attorney General comes from a Polygamist family. Of course he isnt going to enforce the law against it.
Texas enforces the law! Mark Shurtleff made a special TRIP to texas in 2004 to tell legislators they better strength their laws in the state, cause we had a whole ranch full living in texas.
Take them back to UTAH, and UTAH can take care of them.
When did we go to War with Boston, Massachusetts? :o)

We know better than to fall for the old psuedo-intellectual garbage a handful of malcontents like you spew out.
I run a $1 billion company and have never encountered anyone who believes Utahans or Mormons are stupid, naive, or strange as you imply.
Rather, I've found many people who respect our views and wish they could have all the things I have.
Prop 8 won -- get over it!
* An exaggerated sense of ones own abilities and achievements.
* A constant need for attention, affirmation, and praise.
* Persistent fantasies about attaining success and power.
* Exploiting other people for personal gain.
* A sense of entitlement and expectation of special treatment.
* A lack of empathy for others. in the Mormon group?
With the number of Hmong polygamists in Fresno and Minnesota among other places, the "Christian" polygamy movement with its base in Maine and the number of African-born polygamists in New York City anyone who claims their is a higher incidence of polygamy in Utah is out of touch.
Utah has actually prosecuted people for polygamy in the last decade, which is more than I can say for New York, California or Minnesota.
When was the last time Utah prosecuted anyone for fornication, adultery or sodomy? So the claims and analogies put forward are spurious.
It is not that there is more polygamy in Utah than elsewhere, but that people harp on it, while they ignore polygamy in New York and Fresno.
Your statement indicates obvious ignorance of the widespread nature of polygamy in the United States.
There are thousands of Muslim polygamists, primarily in the North Eastern United States. There is a growing "Christian" polygamist movement that has no connection to "Mormonism" whatsoever. Hmong polygamy also lacks connections to Mormonism.
You are wrong on why polygamy is not practiced. It is not practiced currently because it is not allowed by God. If it was merely an issue of law, than members would practice it in Ghana and other African countries.
Those who claim to practice polygamy currently are committing adultery.
I am not sure how your comments really make sense. Considering that the Timonthy quote says that a bishop must be married but there are several Christian denominations who forbid married men from serving as bishops, we can see that the statements of Paul on marriage are not followed by all Chrisitans.
If you are attempting to argue the "Christian" polygamists are misguided, you have valid points.
However if you are trying to say they do not exist, you are engaging in the wrong type of discussion. The fact is that there are groups out there who practice polygamy, reject Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, and base their practices on their reading of the Bible. It is true it is reading of the Old Testament, but they profess a belief in Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Savior and Son of God, so while they may be sinners in my eyes and your eyes, I do not think we have a right to deney them the name of Christian.
However, as Jesus said, we must not just say his name but do the will of the father to be saved.
Please read Elder Ballard's talk on being a good neighbor and follow his advice to NEVER, even in jest, suggest that those who have differing political and social views move away.
Did Christ tell the Pharisees to move away. No, he taught them, as well as everyone else the truth. Declare the truth, but do not be unfriendly and un-neighborly in doing it.
How does the church tolerate polygamy?
It excommunicates people who practice or preach it. If the church were to go after polygamy any more than it does it would be accused of infringing on people's rights.
As I have said hundreds of times before, most polygamists in the United States have no connection at all to the LDS Church. Even among the FLDS and other such groups most of their members have never been LDS. However these groups are outnumbered by other groups like Homongs and Muslim immigrants from Africa.
I will admit that the abuse of the polygamists giving their under age children in "spiritual" marrage is wrong and that is what the authorities have gone after them for.
