The problem with TV is the diehards are going to watch anyways. Media are trying to get the not-as-interested crowd, so it is trying to be accomplished by covering (sometimes creating) other stories about the game. Thats what the problem is with being a diehard fan, your business is expected and not taken for granted.

I would like to personally thank FCBully of the supporters club the FCB for giving those rapids fans what they deserved. Several Real fans were spit on during that match and a group of their fans attacked a group of our fans. YOU ARE DEAD ON RIGHT THAT WE DONT LIKE EACH OTHER. We are looking forward to hosting them next year. I hope they enjoy watching reruns of Matlock while we win the MLS Cup!!!!!!

ESPN

is the worst for doing anything but play-by-play of the game. I don't know how many times I've seen them pay more attention to some nobody interview in the stands then what is going on in the game. It infuriates me when they cut too late to a play because they were showing some stupid graphic or fail to explain a penalty or something going on because they've got someone's mother in the booth. And it's only getting worse. Does anyone actually tune in to see those meaningless interviews they do?

Why won't Channel 5 or another local station pick it up? Support our local sports teams. When you are showing D-league basketball on T.V. and not RSL that just drives me nuts and I love Basketball. It is all about the Larry Miller monopoly.

Re: RSL Ulty fan

It's all about TV rights. Study up on them because I don't think you understand. You don't think that a local station would jump at the chance to show these games? KSL has broadcast games this season, you don't think they'd like to broadcast a playoff game? It's about the almighty dollar so try assigning the blame where it belongs. Some how Larry Miller is to blame? Hilarious.

Sad Truth

Announcers do this in every sport and with every team. It's tiring and sad. The times it is unbearable is when the camera doesn't cut away in time and the viewers miss plays.

Ratings would still be low

Ratings for RSL playoffs would still be very low. Who is going to watch that game over Florida/Georgia, Texas Tech/Texas/ Utah/New Mexico or BYU/Colorado State.

Upon further review of the HDNET broadcast of the goal celebration, there were 4 people (3 besides FCBully) giving the Rapids fans the double #1's.

That's my boy, FCBully!

I know a lot more than you think. Trust me, I have worked for a law firm for many years. I have nothing against Larry Miller, but he has a lot more power than he should (luckily he is an honest guy with that power). How many people even blinked an eye at the Delta Center when it was built? How many frieked out about the Rio Tinto stadium? I give credit to channel 5 for showing those road games, but we need to put a fight up to get playoffs as well. I know these big stations (fsc, espn, etc...) have rights. I just wish David Checketts and Miller would get along and work together. Checketts should be blamed for this as well as Miller.

RE: RSL Ulty 2:27

What does you working at a law firm have to do with TV rights? Congrats on the gig at a firm, but experience in sports broadcasting or braodcasting in general would be better for understanding how TV rights work.

Re: Ratings would still be low

I would. And I did. I enjoyed every minute of it! I didn't even know Texas was playing. Or Utah or New Mexico or Texas Tech or Florida or Georgia or whatever other college football team you can think of.

RSL is where it's at! I'm glad these games are at least televised. As more and more people start watching them, they will begin to be broadcast on stations with wider access and viewership. That includes the local stations.

As for the television rights, FSC might have the rights to the Chivas v. RSL playoff games, but that doesn't mean KSL can't show them either. It's very simple. They can work out a deal with FSC and gain the rights from them for a local broadcast. This can be done through leasing or brokering some other deal or trade. I would love for KSL to pick up these games.
