The cost of fuel this past yr has destroyed our economy. It affected every budget and industry from procduction to shipping to the checkout. After buying gas and higher prices for elec we had no money left over for extras,to save or invest.Less spending=morejobs being lost.Gas comes down a tad,OPEC cuts production 1.5 million barrels a day. Our government hands out 168 BILLION dollars in stimulus checks that did nothing.Imagine how far that could have gone to promoting and starting to use alternative energy, wind, solar, and to develop further our technoligies of hybrid and elec plug in cars and make them affordable to the average Joe. I just read a facinating book, The Manhattan Project of 2009 by Jeff Wilson. Our politicians need to quit blowing hot air and start reading this book. Our economy is in a very scary state of affairs. For me personally my 12 mo job got cut to 19 mos. Elec went up 16%, How do you cope with no paycheck in the summer? God Help Us All!
This is the same Bo Bennett who said "I have nothing against Gays. I am a great fan of the arts."
Who listens to a fool like this anywhere but Utah?
Bennett got it right. I work for one of the larger employers in Utah and borrowing totally froze up for us. Congress was still too slow to act and believe me the effects are coming to a community near you.
