What is wrong with Sandy City? Funding a theater for a developer with taxpayer money? Sandy officials must be in developers' pockets even deeper I thought.

I hope that the Proscenium project does not materialize as it is currently proposed. We don't need three 30 story buildings in downtown Sandy. The planning commission should never have approved the exception to the current 10 story limit on buildings. Blocked views and massive congestion in an area that is already over-developed is something we will be sorry for for a long time. And, how many Broadway-style theaters can Salt Lake Valley sustain. There is the Capitol Theatre, Kingsbury Hall, and the proposed Regent Street theatre. Let's use wisdom and constraint in an economically uncertain time.

Sandy is not being honest when they say taxpayer dollars are not being used for this. If they are going to rebate the the property tax increment for the theatre, are they going to do that for all new businesses, and if not, why not? Because they can't afford to.

Anyone can quote a study but are the conclusions realistic? Probably not. Sandy would be better off letting the project go rather than commit money to it.

Ms. Durksen's comment that without the theater, the project won't happen is in direct contradiction to comments made by the developer that the project would go forward with or without the theater.

Every story on this reveals the inconsistencies in Sandy's story. The theater is private. No its not. The developer proposed the theater. Oops, no, Sandy pitched it to the developer. Now they have a major wrinkle with the LDS Church supporting the downtown location. The farther Sandy goes down this road, the more it looks like a dead end.
RDA takes money from schools | 8:49 a.m. Oct. 25, 2008
Here we go again Sandy City -- another RDA to take money from schools that is so desperately needed NOW. I encourage the Canyons School Board to oppose this RDA. And taxpayers need to pressure them to do so.

Since the city of Salt Lake has decided to build a broadway type theatre and there is already three theatres with quality productions being produced it doesn't make sense for the city of Sandy to be part of this project. It should be put to a vote of the people to determine what they want. The quary bend project sets a prescedent for this.

All we were hearing was that this was going to get built without public funds... now the truth comes out!

WE ARE SICK OF USING PUBLIC MONEY TO PAY FOR PIE IN THE SKY IDEAS!!! FIRST REAL SALT LAKE NOW THIS!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
