Child protective services no longer needs his services. Most of the cases have been wrapped up and the remaining legal work is minimal and will be handled by one of the remaining attorneys. The leaving of the attorneys simply means that the vast majority of FLDS parents will no longer be of concern to CPS or the court system. Even though this fellow said he couldn't discuss why he is leaving, the article makes the reason pretty clear. The FLDS can breathe a sigh of relief.
So after the expenditure of 35 million dollars, and one child in custody because the mother was uncooperative, the state continues slogging on with its persecution, still pretending its doing the peoples work, destroying this religion. Why doesnt someone with courage step forward and put an end to it, admit this was all a mistake? Oh yeah, that would have to be Perry, wouldnt it? Gov. Perry doing that right thing . . . thats not going to happen.
Sounds a lot like rats deserting a sinking ship.
With most of the persecution finished I guess the lawyers will find some other form of entertainment.
The rats aren't necessarily deserting a sinking ship. The guys have set up the cases for the remaining lawyers to handle.
Now with the business "wraped up" I guess the investigation promised by Meisner can start......lol
I would bet that a majority of the remaining 72 kids are related in some way to the nine men indited by the State. Look for more kids getting seperated from their families to protect them from men that are no threat.
Foster families will be lined up to make a buck and parents will be bled to pay the expenses.....the Texas persecution business will generate cash for its cronies and what expenses are left over will be passed on to the taxpayers.
sounds more like Texas doesn't pay state lawyers very well and after all the publicity they can get better jobs elsewhere.
at least someone got to benefit from all the publicity. the kids sure didn't.
I think the attorneys saw the CPS abuse for what it was after looking over all the cases. At this point most of the attorneys involved with the FLDS CPS fiasco understand just how corrupt CPS has always been.
I predict this particular attorney will be in court fighting against CPS in the future rather than fighting with them.
Actually, I predict 90% of the attorneys that were involved in this fiasco will be fighting for CPS reform in the future and won't be so quick to rubberstamp whatever CPS says.
Sure they did RC, they got to travel around and see some of Texas. And you said they never got out to see the world. Thank you CPS for allowing the FLDS children the freedom to travel. Don't you just LOVE IT when a plan comes together?
//the kids sure didn't. //
Sure they did. If this had been a small case with only a couple families, CPS actions would probably have flown under the radar, and they would have been able to keep the children for much longer than two months without any evidence of abuse in the majority of families. Fortunately the Texas Supreme Court stepped in to prevent that from happening.
Mr Childress has a full time job at UT in Texas. Perhaps, he felt he was not able to put all his efforts in Two different jobs.
Mr. Banks was asked to be a partner in a Texas Law Firm. If it was me, Id change jobs, more money, more benefits.
What bothers me is that the article implies that the case is almost finished from an investigative standpoint and there are still 72 kids in limbo.
Look for something to hit the fan with these kids.....either one last release from court supervision or one massive siezure of the kids.
The article mentioned that by the end of the month the cases would be resolved in one way or the other....I just hope the remaining 72 kids are nonsuited.
Gal50: then why did it say he couldn't talk about it?
I'd rather forget this whole thing. I am sick of hearing about it.
I hope so, too, zxcvbnm, but that would leave Texas CPS with so much egg on their face I doubt they will allow it to happen. They feel the pressure to find SOMETHING, ANYTHING, that will justify what they did to those kids - to those families. They gotta know EVERYONE is watching so there is no way they can pull any more fast ones like they did in April. There is no middle ground here; this will go either VERY well for the remaining children or VERY badly. Pray for the children.
Unlike Rod Parker, these lawyers have lives and other clients. It's their time to move on...
The CPS lawyers are a bunch of BOZOs J-man. The lawyers that left were on short term contracts in all likelyhood. The big guys organized the cases then turned everything over to the mechanics...this mess is bureaucratic law......no great phylosophical stuff.
The CPS boys blew the raid.......blew the siezure of kids...they needed someone to fix stuff and keep ahead of SCOTEX and the 5th circuit....
It tickles me that Malonis had some nonsense to say about this stuff........she still is saying something about nothing.
All the signs at the TCU BYU game were written in love. If that BYU administrator would have been arrested for taken a sign from a fan, that would be a badge of honor worth wearing though the eternities.

Something is not right here.
If the case was just about to end, then he would have stayed on until things were finished. Believe it or not the end of cases are when important things happen. That's when final decisions are made and agreements are signed.
He wouldn't give two weeks notice, he would stay on part-time. It sounds like he was made to resign. Lawyers usually aren't fired, they just are told to resign.
It's pretty sad when so many people think that the fdls form a child abuse is acceptable.
