If Draper decided to renovate the Park School I would donate money to help out. Draperites should be in support of preserving our history!

People don't walk to the grocery store? Funny, I do every day. I got sick of sitting in traffic all the time, so I moved. I now live one block from rail, and just over a block from a grocery store.

I have a car, but choose not to drive it unless going somewhere far from transit. Why drive to megaWalMart, when the walk from the vast parking lot would be just as big as my current walk from home to my neighborhood grocer?

It's a liberating feeling, living within a block or two of your grocer, drug store, diner, deli, dentist, doctor, barber, coffeeshop, theater, etc. They all your name, and you get a sense of community. They're your *friends*, and they're never more than a short walk or rail ride away.

I love my new neighborhood, but it's in California. Think about it, I moved to California to *GET AWAY FROM TRAFFIC*. No more I-15 gridlock. When I get home I walk down to see Johnny or Alfredo at my local IGA (are there any left in SLC?). My car sits in its garage.

The Wasatch Front *used* to be like this, and it can be again.

Commuter Rail stations were designed to be spaced 5-6 miles apart the proposed Draper station is only 2-3 miles from the next station to the north, UTA has already bought $6M worth of land where the Bluffdale station would be located and this statin would be the recommended 5-6 miles from the next station to the north, also adjacent to this location there is already a massive master planned community approved containing 3600 homes, and some 12,000 ultimate residents many of whom who would welcome the commuter rail station at their location. Also public access is closer and easier as the Bluffdale station location is just off I-15 at the 14600 S. offramp which equates to easier access.

MAS,

I think you're confusing Light Rail and Commuter rail...

Draper Park School

To Draper to DC: just because a building is old doesn't mean we need to plow a load of money into it. The Park School is an eyesore and should be replaced with a modern, efficient and aesthetic, useful building.

Re: Draper_to_DC

Most "Draperites" have shown up in the last decade. They don't HAVE a history.

Waiting for NIMBYs...

Hopefully the Draper Council will have the fortitude to stand up to the mighty NIMBY lobby there and provide something that people not only will want, but need in the coming years as the area builds out and traffic increases. Mixed-use development around a commuter rail station is wise, it brings benefits to the whole neighborhood, allowing shopping, dining, and more. People that normally wouldn't stop in your city will take a look and see what's to offer in Draper. Look at the development happening at the north end of FrontRunner in Pleasant View (Ogden area). There is a medical clinic, hair salon, day spa, dining, and more to come. Nothing so insidious as a Wal-Mart, and the city can zone for the type of businesses, so you have some choice as to what ends up there. I say let it go forward.

No- MAS is correct. The Frontrunner station should have been in Blufdale, but UTA is trying to avoid anti-development Blufdale politics. Development will wash over Blufdale wheather they like it or not.

And seriously Draper- concerned about preserving open space?? This is the home of that atrosity of a development on Travers ridge?? You are one more faceless sprawling community along the Wasatch front. Do yourself a favor and preserve your school.
