I have a son who is studying Chemistry as a freshman in college. After all the money I have lost in the stock market and knowing how many people are losing their jobs, it was a relief to know that he is in a field that will need him in 4 years. That is refreshing to know because it is going to cost me $100,000 to educated him. I value an education but he'll need a job.

The job's the thing. My nephew is a recent grad with a Master's in chemisty and a bachelor's in chemical engineering but he can't find a job in the field. As experienced chemists retire, there is some lag before that trickles down to entry level positions.
