Finally! It is about time the government took some kind of action to curb rampant illegal activity in our country.

When Barack Obama or John McCain grants amnesty to everyone next year, it won't matter anyway, everyone will be eligible to work. The sad thing is, once you grant amnesty to 20-30 million people, then they will want to bring in their families. Within 10 years we will have 125 million more people in America. I'm glad I'm old and will die soon, I don't want to live in that kind of America -125 million people uneducated in the english language. America will become a third world nation by 2030, its sad beacuse we were so great and accomplished so much as Americans.

I agree with waste of time. Once Obama is president he will push for legislation, if it is not on his desk already, to grant amnesty to all illegals. He already is saying that he will grant illegals the right to a drivers license.

McCain is only slightly better as he would first close the border, then grant amnesty.

As we have seen from politicians, like children, if they don't succeed, they will keep coming back until they get what they want.

I have a hard time believing Amnesty will go anywhere regardless of who wins.

In 2007, the President, the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority Leader, and most of the leadership of both parties enthusiastically supported Amnesty. If failed to even pass Congress.

Why? The Democrats and their eager shills in the Media like to claim it was those Eeeevil Racist Republicans, but in reality it was the "red district" Democrats in the House (like Jim Matheson) who killed the bill.

They were -- and still are -- terrified of the issue because they know how unpopular it is outside the Washington bubble. And it will become even less popular as the economy slows and unemployment rises.

Mark my words; Amnesty is dead. Which is why it's not even an issue in this campaign: No one wants to touch it.

I hope the government plans to fix this system. As a user of Basic Pilot and E-verify, these systems do not accomplish their goal, and the error rate is way too high.

E-Verify is over 99% accurate. Those like the comment above who think the error rate is too high need to update their information. I doubt that "E-Verify" has actually used this program. It is effective against ID fraud but not against ID theft, and there is a difference. Most errors can be correct in a matter of a few days.

The employer can still hire the individual with a mismatch report, and the employee has 8 days to contact the correct government agency to rectify the problem. If the problem cannot be solved in 30 days the employer is notified that the employee does not have the right to work in the United States. This research is done by a person, and not a computer. These findings are also subject to review.

E-Verify works better than just about anything in government. Utah should enact the same requirements as the federal government. The problem is that the cheap labor employers and ethnic groups are trying to do away with E-Verify for their own selfish interests.

You say this nation is the melting pot right different people have come here to make up AMERICA right. So what if diferent people come here. This LAND was stolen from the REAL AMERICANS "THE NATIVE AMERICANS" People are people they come here because to make a better way of life for their families. We complain about people stealing the jobs way from the people here in the US, when we should raise our children to be the better, dependable, hard workers that the companies are looking for. We should put blame on ourselves not the immigrants. Have respect for one another before you show your faults.

So what? Using your logic we should forcibly eject the Sioux from the Black Hills because they weren't the first tribe to occupy the area and they took it from the other tribes by force.

The overwhelming majority of Americans support immigrants who come here, get a job, learn and speak English, obey the law and become citizens.

We have very little patience for those who ignore the law and then expect to be rewarded with US citizenship.

Dear Legislators,

Mandate, AND STRICTLY ENFORCE, E-Verify for ALL employers, for ALL employees, and for ANY benefit, and the I.C.E. raids, as well as all of the expensive new detention facilities, would not be needed.

The illegals would have to begin leaving of their own accord.

Think of the economic effect of giving the 7 million jobs, that the illegals have illegally obtained, using forged, or stolen documents, back to Americans.

Think of the economic effect of 60 billion more dollars being spent in our United States, rather than being remitted to Mexico, and South America.

Think of the money saved by decreasing I.C.E.'s effort.

Think of it, and then let's do it!!!

Program to Check Legal Status Already 99.5% Accurate

WASHINGTON (September 18, 2008) ï¿½ The E-Verify program, which allows employers to check the immigration status of new employees, has been steadily improving and is now 99.5 percent accurate, according to a new paper by the Center for Immigration Studies. This voluntary program is already screening more than one in ten new hires nationwide, and as of September 13, 2008, has processed 6.21 million queries.

FACT: In the last 22 years, over 26 million illegals, have been apprehended, crossing our Southwest Border.

THE PROBLEM IS: Less than 1, out of 4 illegals, were estimated to have been apprehended, while crossing the border, into our United States.

Mind boggling, isn't it.

According to the U.S. Immigration Service another 6 million illegals in this country are visa overstays. That is, they got a visa legally in their home country, they came here to visit and then they never left.
