better early than sorry.
time to bless America with a sound leader (and to flush Bush-Cheney-McCain-Palin down the drain).
Registered Libertarian or Independent for most of the last 20 years. This year I've traded in my idealism for a practical choice of BILL DEW, Republican for Congress.
My interest in Bill Dew started when Jim Matheson parroted the Democratic Party line on high gas prices. He is opposed to drilling and increasing the market supplies that would hurt speculators and limit the power of big oil. By blocking domestic production Jim is part of the problem, not the solution.
Concerning the bailout Jim Matheson said:
"I am frustrated and angry that we find ourselves in this financial mess as a result of bad business decisions by the home mortgage industry."
Using only the New York Times Archives from 1999 through mid 2007, I can show that the bulk of the blame goes to the Clinton Administration for pressuring banks to make loans that weren't good business decisions (search Google for [new york times archive 1999 subprime] then add [Wallison] to the search).
On October 3, 2008 Matheson voted "Aye" for HRes1525 along with 203 democrats and 20 Republicans to prevent amendments and limit debate to 90 minutes for bailout bill HR1424. Then he voted against HR1424. How disingenuous.
The 8 year nightmare is finally coming to an end!!
time to vote for Mitt Romney in 4 years. only 4 more years to go. only four more years to go. with Obama in office heaven help us and HE probably will have to if we as a people humble ourselves enough.
"The 8 year nightmare is finally coming to an end!! "
Exactly. Now we can expect 4-8 more years of liberal whining about something else to cover their incompetence. :)
The age of hate politics is coming to a close. The country/GOP is learning that a message of HATE is not going to work.
I am sick of the DesNews ignoring Salt Lake County. Nearly half of the state's residents live here and you write an article that focuses on Davis and Utah County. Who cares? We all know how they are going to vote anyway. This paper suffers from its ability to reflect the community around itself. The County Clerk is 20 blocks away. Trax would have made it real easy to get there.
where is SL county? Give it a rest! Every news on t.v. and news print focus on SLC. You people think that the State of Utah stops in SL county. Add UT, Davis, and Weber counties and they are the same size. How many people in each county read the D news? Im sure you know. If more people take the D News in those counties they should get more stories. What goes around comes around. Now someone else it getting news about them.
In my opinion it's time to abolish the Electoral College. Every state, county and city election is decided by a popular vote. Why not do the same for the Presidential Election? I want my vote to count every time, but in Utah when I cast my vote for President it gets lost in the muddle of a winner take all sweepstake.
Abolish the College now!
I voted for McCain/Palin and would invite you to do the same.
John McCain is clearly more experienced and more qualified for the office of President than Mr. Obama.
And by the way, "the message of HATE" is a two-way street. Please stop lying to us, we can read and hear all of the terrible things you've said about anyone who opposes the left-wing these past 8 years. Stop pretending.
I'll politely decline your invitation, solely on the fact that McCain knows nothing about what he talks about with foreign policy, especially the Middle East.
All the cool kids are doing it :) And I for one I'm a cool kid!
No wait, breezed in and out. It was great. But...I too decline your invitation to vote for McCain/Palin. Have you seen the reports that Palin's kids traveled on the state dime. She hasn't been vetted long, but what's been learned is that she's a Bush Republican and McCain has moved that way too. If Maverick is the new word for the ultra-right wing, then that's what they are.
Huh?
Voting starts today?
What happened to the vote I cast last week?
If you add together Weber, Davis and Utah County you almost get the population of Salt Lake County, but you still don't have anything that anyone cares about. Let's see...Utah County has a decent private university and a crappy public university. Davis County has Lagoon. I grew up there. That is all they have. Weber County has the armpit of the state: Ogden. Add them up and you don't have anything worth writing about. I admit, some of the canyons are great in those areas, but that is it. And canyons don't vote. Write about SL and your readership in the county might actually grow. Plus it is by far the most interesting place to write about. We know how the other counties will vote. SL can switch it up a bit.
Can you give me a good reason to vote for Obama? Not a reason to vote against McCain, but a real reason to vote for Obama. He preaches change and never gives specifics. He casts stones and cries foul when they are cast back. I am confused how anyone can seriously consider Mr. Obama qualified for the position he is about to win. Yes I agree he will win, but it is out of ignorance and disgust that he will do so. The ignorance in the form of the masses blindly wanting something new. Disgust in the form of wanting to get as far away from Bush as possible. It is a shame he will win being the most underqualified person to take the position of all time. All you Obama fans think the financial crisis is Bush's fault and you are wrong. The Clinton clan started the slide and has been helped along by the Dems in power. Do you honestly think soneone that was involved in the problem is going to fix it?
I hope I saved some time today (10-22) although it took me over 2 hours standing in line at the AF library! Good thing there were books there to read while waiting.
A study after the 2004 president found that Democrats and Republicans were equally adept at ignoring inconvenient facts.
It would be so fascinating to study the thought processes and data filtering techniques of the dogmabot legions that rule democratic countries through their right to vote. The tragic conflict between opposing dogmas continue as we transition from being ruled by one group of dogmabots to being ruled by another. The dogmabots are never learning because they have already assumed a knowledge of the truth. With dogmabots, the dogma is never examined, only strengthed by the filtered data coming into the dogmabot brain. Indeed, by definition dogma cannot be examined by a dogmabot. They aren't even willing to talk about it except to recite all of their dogmatist sources who prove their assumptions by their conclusions. Objective standards of measurement or experimentation being applied. It is intellectually humorous, but emotionally saddening.
To "Why Obama?" Just go to the Obama website (Google it) and actually read the many position papers Obama and his experts have put together. Then you won't claim he never gives specifics. Try it; you'll like it!
