Everyone?

It will not infect me. I have a moral compass.

Brian

It won't infect you, I wouldn't be too sure about that, it is really easy to get it even with safe sex, I have been living with this for 17 years and I know what it is like to have this with me everyday. So if you think you are excluded from getting this disease, then you need to just pray for yourself because that is the only way you will be safe from this.

Everyone's Compass

Celebacy prior to marriage and fidelity during marriage will practically guarantee one to remain AIDS free. True, it may be passed it other ways, blood transfusions being one, but these are quite rare and can be protected against, as well.

Sadly, AIDS is and remains largely a disease that afflicts homosexuals and drug users. Africa may be another story but even there, Ghana's abstinence program shows that infection is not a certainty.

I am sorry, Brian, that you have had to deal with this. My cousin recently died from complications caused by it. Unfortunately, it was entirely preventable.

come on people

These comments just show the ignorance that surrounds the issue. We live in 2008, what makes you think that complete fidelity exists within even the most committed relationships. There are many people living with HIV/AIDS because of that exact belief that they are safe.
How can you say it is something that afflicts mainly homosexuals and drug users when the largest growing afflicted group in the U.S. is straight, black women.
You should listen to people like Brian, who actually live what you are commenting on, when he tells you anyone is at risk.
Get educated and help others.
