Wow motherhood from an LDS perspective. It must be completely different for mothers of different religions. What a bizarre concept for a book.

I really look forward to reading this book...when it comes to my library! Mothering is unique and special no matter where or of what faith. I think that along with the "gritty" parts will be people I can relate to. As a mother of 4 whose MSW hangs on the wall, I often think of "my family-my job" because it's what I choose to do. I love it!

In response to DUH, if you read the intro it doesn't try to set these women as distinct from other religious women-they are writing about their experiences as mothers. I read their blog and they are extaordinary writers with insight and wit. Are you sexist and a bigot that you would mock intelligent women for writing of their religion and their motherhood?

Well, I've been enjoying reading it. It's really rare to find a book about motherhood that isn't all sweetness and light all the time, but still is uplifting, rarer to find one that's actually written with more than half a brain. I mean, one that isn't all "Chicken Soup" with a tidy moral at the end, and instead talks about being a real mom, not a fabled "angel mother" kinda thing. This one just happens to be written by women who happen to be LDS. (There are a bunch of LDS women who are moms, after all, right?) I bought mine to contribute to NieNie's fund, but it's well worth the read (and the cash, or the library check out. Wish my library carried LDS books! That's a long lost luxury for me.).
