Figures don't lie, but liars can sure figure
Anyone seeing the cost of your living going down? Our gas is $3.30 while the east coast pays $2.40, Walmart grocery, having destroyed most of the competition is raising prices at an alarming rate, which lets Smiths and Albertson's do the same.
Natural gas has increased, as has electric.
I wish the deseret news would quit lying to people. Its a disgrace to say such stupid things as the cost of living has gone down.
Go buy a bottle of cooking oil that last year was $2 and now is $3.89. Get some eggs and see if you think the price has dropped. Shipping and handling for mail order continues to rise.
I just hope Utahns and Americans are wise enough to see through this flim-flam that our sicko leaders are dumping on us. Like all media outlets, the deseret news just parrots what the goverment sends them, rather than doing something that is foreign to all newspapers anymore, and that is, investigative journalism, wherein they get the "facts" from the feds, and then go out and see if they are true or false.
As wages come down cost of living better decline as well, or we are in trouble! The cost of living here is HIGH! Especially as greedy land lords claim "Taxes" are on the rise when in reality they aren't going that much. The cost of food will continue to rise as well, I couldn't believe the difference in the price of Spaghetti Squash, at Smith's they wanted $1.89 a pound and down the street at Kents it was $0.79 a pound! IT PAYS TO SHOP!!! Don't get ripped off by your local stores!!! The same goes for cars, apartments, TV's, furnature, gas, you name it, there are those trying to make a buck, by ripping you off, and those trying to make a buck by helping you save and shop smart, those are the guys to shop at! Be Smart and Shop Around!!! If it sounds expensive it is probably cheaper elsewhere!
The rapid inflation in energy and food costs has been putting a strain on my budget. For me, I was already rarely eating out, cutting coupons and carefully shopping for items. I don't have a flat screen TV and my car is a 1994 model with nearly 200,000 miles on it. I have no credit card debt either. However, I'm finding times a little difficult because I've always been a saver and now I'm barely making enough to pay the bills each month. I still have savings put away for emergencies and I'm putting a healthy sum into my 401k even though it keeps going down in value in today's bear market.
What to do? I'm thinking about taking a second job because I like to be able to have a cushion in my monthly income. I can't cut anymore unless I get rid of the internet and my cell phone, but those things have nearly reached the level of necessity. Any suggestions?
Oil mafia in Utah still making money...who regulates...NOBODY and we pay for it!!!
