Former Lehman Brothers CEO Dick Fuld was under oath Monday when he was grilled on Capitol Hill about his role in the current financial meltdown. But if Members really want to understand the credit mania, they should also call Chris Dodd. The Connecticut Senator has been out front denouncing the 'companies that form the foundation of our financial markets, for 'their insatiable appetite for risk. He has also decried 'reckless, careless and sometimes unscrupulous actors in the mortgage lending industry' and he has proclaimed that American taxpayers deserve to know how we arrived at this moment.' To that end, we propose he take the stand under oath. Former Countrywide Financial loan officer Robert Feinberg says Mr. Dodd knowingly saved thousands of dollars on his refinancing of two properties in 2003 as part of a special program the California mortgage company had for the influential. He also says he has internal company documents that prove Mr. Dodd knew he was getting preferential treatment as a friend of Angelo Mozilo, Countrywide's then-CEO.
McCain & Sarah 2008 for REAL CHANGE in Washington
A federal judge has ordered Ohio's top elections official to verify the identities of newly registered voters, specifically citing questionable forms turned in by an activist group that's under investigation in states across the country. U.S. District Judge George C. Smith in Columbus Thursday ruled that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner must perform verification required by the Help America Vote Act. That includes matching new registrants information against information in databases maintained by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles or the Social Security Administration.
Every time the stock people hear the name of 0-Bamacon, stocks take a dive, and more crashes happen to. Don't Panic. Mac Coming Back! - As a member of the Panic Brigade, I'm guilty as heck of panicking. I'm a dignosed panic-disorder case with anger-management issues and low frustration tolerance. So this is written to myself as to anyone else. There's a lot of anger and frustration as it seems that a candidate who would be disqualified from holding office for a variety of reasons is winning, and we can't seem to make traction. But bear in mind McCain swung ten points when he picked Palin as Veep. Obama swung 10-12 points when the economic catastrophe in which he had a starring role broke through to dominate the public's mood. It looks bad now. It also looked bad before the convention. One never knows when the next breakthrough event will occur. But when they do occur, they can swing 10 or 15 points in a matter of days. Vote for Sarah and McCain in 2008, we'll have no more crashed from Obamacon's words of doom and gloom.
