He is a classy guy and a STANFORD GRAD. However, he is not much of a ball player and should be the first person cut from the roster.
Kosta Koufos should be the backup center. When he gets right with the hammy he will shock people. He has the speed of a small forward and strength and length of a true dominanting bigman. As time goes on people will not only be suprised with his overall play, but shocked that he is that good. You'll see.
Why is Collings still on the team? I want to know what his real role is. So do I... is absolutely correct, he should be the first one cut. Does O'donkel or Sloan think he will get any better after 7 years of languishing in the league.
Collins does his job well, the Jazz are definitely getting what they pay for. There was an article about two years ago that talked about how influential he is in practices. When the play other teams, they run the other teams offenses. Collins gets to play rolls such as Dirk... Boozer says he does a great job.
So while we barely see Collins, I think he dose more for the Jazz than we realize.
Collins is the only player in history to register a negative vertical leap. Gary Coleman could block his layup.
As much as I don't like Collins, neither Koufus or Fes is ready to take the 12th man role away from Collins. Collins really does a good job for the price that we pay for him. Unless that game against the Lakers really does wake Fes up, and he starts working to improve, this will be his last season in the NBA for a while. But Koufus sounds like he really wants to improve and take that job away from Collins, unfortunately the injury is a bit of a set back, so we will probably see him in a Flash uniform for a year, with a good possibility of making the team next season.
"One thing about Jarron he can play or not play, and he's going to do his thing" YEAH SUCK. He is by far the worst player not only on the Jazz but the NBA. He is sucking valualbe cap space room.
Collins has caught Sloan doing something, somewhere otherwise he would have been gone years ago. Jerry is a better judge of talent than that.
No matter how dumb Sloan coaches or makes statements like this about Collins he will have posters take up for him. If we had of developed our young players instead of playing Collins and Harpring, the team would be much stronger now and the players we need much more developed.
Every team needs a 12th man and frequently, that player is kept because he is 6'10" or taller or because he brings character and/or maturity to a team. I don't always like to watch Jarron, but I do see why he is kept on the roster.
Uh, ya think he might be kept on the roster because of a slight little thing called a guaranteed contract? I'll bet that thought never crossed your mind, did it?
You gotta love all these loser posters who think they know more than Jerry Sloan about basketball. He must have something on you...I mean after all, he's the one who's been the coach for 21 years, not all you "know it all" posters. I guess the laugh's on you, isn't it?!
Pathetic people...
Most Jazz fans see the same thing with Collins. He's horrible on the court and if he played more, would go down in NBA history as getting the most shots blocked but he comes cheap and is a good locker room guy. Most people don't want to hear that but when I worked with the Jazz, you can see a lot that the average fan doesn't see. Don't worry Jazz fans, he won't play more than 5 minutes per game all year.
How can some of you people put Sloan down with the record this coach has. 21 years with the same team, third winningist coach in the NBA....come on guy's, get real! If you don't care for Collins or Sloan, thats one thing but don't show your bias'ed stupidity to us great thinkers! go jerry....go collins!!
Duh, Duh...Of course I considered he has a contract! And why did he get that contract? For the reasons stated...
