What a great article. Finally, someone is making music fun for the student (while learning!).

Stand up and take a bow, Jerald.
I'm going to order mine now.
We need to develop whole musicians, not just those that regurgitate the notes on the page, but who can use it as a road map and see the part of the music that isn't written down.

I used to HATE piano. My parents forced me til is was 14. After that I realized I could play any song i found on the internet or popular song I heard on the radio. After that music was my life. Im almost 17 now and absolutely love the piano.

Thanks, we need more awesome piano teachers.

And to think I personally watched him as a child play the piano! Great work Jerald...love to the family as well!

Is it lds culture but some mothers force piano. Does having the ability to play help anyone get to the ck faster or is that culture. I don't regret not knowing how to play. Nice people that do but it is one thing that some mothers have no problem forcing on there children.

I know first hand the talent and fabulousness of Jerald Simon because I'm his wife. I've watched with pride as he has instilled the love of music in people all over the world. His dynamic personality, jaw-dropping talent on the piano, as well as his great enthusiasm help to encourage and motivate musicians. I must add, he's hot too! :)

I loved attending a Jerald Simon workshop this year and can't wait to have Jerald as a guest presenter to my own studio! As a music teacher myself I see many ways to incorporate his ideas and methods into my instruction. He IS motivating and fun... students won't realize they're actually learning technical musical elements when they work on his pieces. I highly recommend his books and his seminars!
