In defense of Cowboy Nation Rules (I didn't know there was one, unless you're talking about Bid 'D') I don't think by saying his Cowboys were going to surprise Salt Lake City that he thought the game was in Salt Lake City. Although picturing the guy behind the comment I can't help but think of a toothless, crosseyed Bobby Boucher look-a-like.
re: ute06 | 1:12 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Byu has a national championship. Utah does not. I am really sick of everybody saying BYU hasn't played anybody. I mean they did beat a #26 ranked UCLA team what was it? 59-0? I would love to see the Utes shut out a Pac 10 team with that much difference.
BYU Fan | 1:19 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Go Utes! I think that the one thing BYU and Utah fans can agree on is that we want both teams undefeated for the game in November. What could make the holy war more exciting than two undefeated top-ten teams? If Johnson stays healthy, I don't think the Utes have much to worry about until then. Just keep going and don't make any stupid mistakes! (And I could say about the same thing to the BYU team; both teams have gotten pretty lucky in some games this year.)

That's the real question here:

Can adrenaline and revenge triumph over talent? Sure, Wyoming has an okay team, and it will be at home in the freezing cold. That could easily throw off any team. But honestly, I doubt the revenge-seeking Cowboys will be able to put up too much of a real game. If, and only if, Utah doesn't take care of the ball, Wyoming might have a chance.
Re:Re; Ute06 | 2:12 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Look, BYU fans. We can all agree that a legitimate system for determining a national championship DOES NOT EXIST.

You can't condemn the BCS system while reinforcing the merit of a national championship AT THE SAME TIME.

Just like you can't condemn the rankings and then brag UCLA was ranked #26(A.K.A. UNRANKED), when you played them.
re Ref: Jim B | 2:13 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
um, OSU wasn't in a prevent d in the last two minutes. Johnson just got the ball off QUICK over the middle of the field, something that was open all game. On the pick 6 he waited too long and pretty much told everybody where the ball was going.

Hey, when I clicked on here there were 50 comments posted -- one each for every point the Utes hung on the Pokes last year.

I hope thirteen people post comments after me; then there will one comment for each point the Utes will hang on Wyoming this year.

Wow. I have never ventured onto a comment board on here before and now I know why. It amazes me how all you big bad men have to put down each others teams to make you feel more powerful. Last I checked this article was about Wyoming and Utah and had nothing to do with BYU. Grow up. Utes. . .Cougars. . .who cares? I love football but think this rivalry goes beyond childish. Guess what-Cougars not all U fans are alcoholics and low life's. Like wise Utes not all Cougar fans are 'know it all' goody too shoe elitists. At this point you all make me sick which is to bad because I am an avid football fan with season tickets to one of these schools programs. I know some of you will say I don't know what I am talking about because I am a *gasp* woman, but apparently I know more about decency and respect.
WYOTEX | 2:46 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Born and raised in Wyoming, but I still enjoy watching the Pukes get blasted every weekend. Not so much for the sake of the team, but for the nasty fans who make football an issue of religion. You want real football, come on down here to Texas where the gridiron is serious business. The Squawboys are awful; would like to see the Cougars or the Utes play the worst of the Big 12; yes, even Baylor U. would give you more than you could handle. I love reading these posts in the DesNews. Humor is a golden nugget. Texas Big Three, UT, A&M and Tech, would grill you. Can hardly wait for the Cougars to rain on the Ute parade.

"Just like you can't condemn the rankings and then brag UCLA was ranked #26(A.K.A. UNRANKED), when you played them."

What ARE you talking about?

I don't recall any BYU fans condemning the rankings.

Oh, and by the way, SOS is not a ranking any more than W/L record is a ranking. It's simply a metric used in the mysterious computer formulas.
RR | 2:57 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Utah will NOT score 50 points, not even close. They could barely score 40 at home vs UNLV and Weber. Wyoming will play like USU plays BYU.

I swear, USU and Wyoming should be rivals. Both have these dreamland one sided rivalries with a school very far from their own, and both do terrible in all sports, when sometimes they get a decent team in some sport now and then.

We all know Wyoming fans, and do you think they'll be anything less than LSU's wish to "take down" the QB? I wouldn't be surprised if this is the game Johnson gets hurt. Ute fans are underestimating Wyoming.

Weather should be in the 30's with snow. It won't be a cake walk.
Considering my options | 2:59 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
If I'm at the game Nov. 22nd wearing all my cougar attire are you guys going to kill me when BYU wins? Or will you just seriously injure me? And don't tell me BYU loses that would kill me inside. I just want to know if i have any hope after time expires. Thanks.
MWC | 3:13 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
These comments are always entertaining. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a BYU fan. First, there is no way Wyoming will beat Utah. Utah is playing too well. The emotion from Whittingham's on-side kick will wear off after kick-off. After that, the only aftermath will be in the crowd or some emotional players taking cheap shots. Neither of which will affect the outcome. Second, Ute fans, you can make fun of some Y fans for a lot of things (admittedly) but quality of education is not one of them. Third, go Utes (until Nov. 22). Nothing would be better for the MWC than having both teams undefeated up to that point.

To: Amanda | 4:03 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Nice comment.

The big concern I have on Saturday is injury to football players.

The cold/wind/rain/snow greatly increases the odds of serious injuries.

Play hard and good luck to all Utah, BYU, Wyoming, and UNM players.

And if you are driving to the game, don't take risks on the Wyoming highways. They can be very nasty.

Looking forward to Nov. 22nd.
AZ ute | 4:15 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Anybody that believes the utes will stumble in laramie on saturday is blowing smoke into an industrial fan. Some will argue the utes always have a mid to early season letdown, it wont happen against the pokes. For that matter it wont happen at all this year, cause utah looks tough enough mentally to pull itself out of any mess they get THEMSELVES into. Utah continues to build each week, while BYeww peaked before they entered their bye week.
Im thinking of committing myself to the koogar approach, regardless of the article topic im just here to bash my rival!
Cant wait to return home in November and laugh at all you zoob fans teary eyed, peeling out of RES in your pastel green Windstar minivans headed for I-15 south!

re re: ute06 | 4:48 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
umm, don't the rankings only go to 25?
Re: Amanda | 4:50 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
"I know some of you will say I don't know what I am talking about because I am a *gasp* woman, but apparently I know more about decency and respect."

So, not all U fans are alcoholics, nor are all Y fans 'know it all' goody too shoe elitists. What about all women having that same judgmental and paranoid persecution complex you've *gasp* exhibited? Do they? If not, you sure aren't a very strong representative of your gender. I'm embarrassed for you.

Re: response to Amanda | 6:35 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Just an example of the radical fringe of Utah fans who are so consumed with hate and jealousy that it's impossible for them to show respect to anyone, including themselves. Mostly, they're just extremely insecure and, like children, resort to tearing down others to help them feel better about themselves.

Fortunately, they're a very small, but vocal, minority of the Utah fans who are just as respectful as fans of any other team.
re anonymous | 6:38 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
HAHAHAHA! I'll have to go check the AP top 26 after this.A 26 ranked ucla? Who had played one game? Who is now 2-3? You have played NOBODY. BYU has played one team with a winning record. ONE. which was a division two school.

I am not saying utah has an amazingly tough schedule but seriously, Utah has a tougher schedule. look it up.

We will see how the kitties do next thursday.

GO TCU on the sixteenth and GO UTES.

thats what happens with rivalries, especially in state rivalries. Go read a Sooner or Longhorn board and it gets worse than this.
Go Utes | 8:14 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
The Utes deserve to be rated #1 or #2. They're that good and you're all gonna see what I mean later in the year when they're 10-0 on their way to the national championship game. No way they lose to Wyoming.
Yeah! | 8:16 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
I totally agree that the Utes will end the year at #1. They have probably the toughest schedule in the country besides maybe a few SEC teams.
Re: BYU Fan | 8:17 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008

Agree with you.
It's best to have both BYU and Utah without a loss going into the Nov 22 game --if so, both will be in top-10 for sure, and BYU will probably be in the top-5 in coaches poll.

Then, we want Utah to leave the game with a 24-21 win on a field goal with 15 seconds left.

SoCalUtahFan.
Re: CougarKeith | 8:45 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Hope all you want, it will not change the future and no one I know really cares about you or about what you want so why express the opinion. You only demonstrate your adolescent mentality and maturity.

Face it, you stopped liking the Utes when Kyle Wittingham, said "no thank you" to BYU. Yeah, yeah, go ahead and start talking about BYU's current success, and I congratulate BYU for that. The current success is easy to hide behind. But the fact is, you will never get over the humiliation that one of your own flat out decided that BYU isn't all that great.

Deal with it, and stop hating the world because of it! Grow up!
Cowboy#1 | 9:27 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
Utah is a disgrace to the Mountain West. Their coach is by far the rudest coach in NCAA. He thinks he is so tricky with his little options and half back passes... Utah is a dirty team. I hope my Cowboys show them how to play some real football. I dislike BYU as well, but at least their coach has class. Kyle W. is a classless coach, he is classless just like the rest of the team and school.

Hey WYOTEX:
Last time we played OU 36-6. I believe the last time we played A&M we beat them and so did the Yewts. In those days A&M played decent football. Oh, I almost forgot the butt-kicking we gave U.T. when they visited last. 46-something in the single digits. The Mountain West top three could play with the "big" 12 top three. TCU beat OU last time they played. And TTU is just a gimmick team yet to play a good defense.
Whitt took the Money | 9:48 a.m. Oct. 10, 2008
and the carryover exceptional players at the U rather than starting from scratch at the Y after three losign seasons. Even though I'd rather follow crowton than myer any day, I think he made the best decision for him and both BYU and Utah have been better off because of it. I really don't think any BYU fans could care less that he didn't accept the job then or now. Don't get me wrong, the list of things I'm bitter againts the U for as a BYU fan is a long one, but Whitt taking the UofU job isn't on the list. I can hate the U for its obnoxious fans that throw beer/food and vulgarity at me when I attend the rivalry game at RES. I can hate the U for being better than BYU in 2004. I can hate the U for the many mediocre years they had losing mid season games against mediocre opponents and then still managing to pull out upsets against BYU. I can hate the U as a stereotypical self righteous BYU fan that thinks they are sinners. But Whitt taking the money just isn't on the list.
Re: Cowboy#1 | 10:52 a.m. Oct. 10, 2008
Nice try BYU fan. Way off subject and a pitiful, transparent attempt at an attack on Whittingham, the School and the football team.
Hey Cougs | 12:38 p.m. Oct. 10, 2008
Seriously coug's get a life. I've been to provo and the girls there are pretty hot. Maybe you should spend time with them instead of reading UTE articles. get a life. Get laid. And talking about how Johnson folds to pressure. How does Hall do under pressure. Props to your O-line because Hall hasn't seen any pressure yet, not until they play Utah. Kruger and Newman will kill hall and take unga out at the same time
Re: Yeah and Go Utes | 3:13 p.m. Oct. 10, 2008
Utah end up number 1? Are you serious? They have a just a good a chance as TCU. It's not the computer stats that decides the entire rankings. It's the human polls and Utah isn't doing well enough now to get votes and won't later in the year. And will 10-0 and on their way to a national championship? Are you kidding me? The last time i checked they have 12 regular season games. Nice try, though
Call a Doctor | 6:50 p.m. Oct. 10, 2008

You are one disgusting Ute fan. I always knew Salt Lake City had some folks from Arkansas living there.
