I could live with the expense of the spa trip if it had included a trip to the spay and neuter clinic.
MORALLY INDENFENSIBLE!!
TOTALLY EXPECTED!
Even without the bailout this type of behavior is beyond reprehensible, but with the bailout its one of the lowest blows that the American taxpayer can take.
Those wise politicians that approved the bailout and Bush in particular should be ashamed, (but obviously not enough to apologize to the American taxpayers).
I'll bet its not the last of this kind of thing that we see, what with 700b up for the taking. When they spend that they can always come back for more!
Hiding info from auditors is criminal. Someone from AIG should go to jail.
repeating itself as in greece and rome! this sure wasn't part of the program promised eigth years ago!
Why weren't these criminals led out of their companies in handcuffs? If I lie to the IRS about my earnings and losses, I go to jail. Why not these bozos? Because of the corruption and cronyism in Washington. Throw all the bums out! (Including the leadership of our own legislature, who basically do the same things, but have an "R" after their name, so keep getting re-elected by the people of this state)
Both sides are up to their ears on this. When are the american people going to get mad enough to do something about this? We need to impose our own term limits and call these people home.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of the kind of crap that will come out regarding the companies that have tapped the taxpayers.
All of these bailouts were just the politicians giving back to their electorate. Note, the taxpayers and people living in their districts are NOT their concern any longer.
Vote against anyone that currently holds office in November!
I want my money back! What percentage of the money spent by these idiots belongs to me? It's my taxpayer money that was used for the bailout and I want my money back!
It's time for a revolution. Our "leaders" are all corrupt traitors and are more concerned with self preservation and taking care of their cronies than they are with doing what's best for this country. Nothing less than complete removal and replacement of our current leadership will solve the corruption that has caused this problem.
Nice to know that that criminal who inhabit the Congress, are "outraged"
That ought to take care of the problem......
Wake up folks. Vote every last one of them out of office. When you get the ballot, if they are in, vote them out. Time to clean house, or is it already too late?
Our lawmakers are "enraged"? I don't want to see rage. I want to see people indicted and then going to prison. All their rage amounts to is verbal fireworks. It's all smoke and mirrors.
AIG was not loosing money, they just had to come up with more collateral because their credit rating was lowered. So the government is pulling all the strings, causing all the panic. The fear that these securities built around home mortgages, are not worth much. They have a value, but nobody knows what it is.
I think we as taxpayers should be paid back via garnishing the wages of the AIG employee or employees who approved the vacation= CLEAR MESSAGE to any other company or their employees who even think of spending one penny of our money on non-essential expenditures!
It was 25 or 30 years ago that we broke up monopoly companies, then some years later we started letting them merge the Dems and Repubs both have their hands dirty in this deal. Lets break up these huge companies up once more and let businesses specialize in one aspect of financial, investment, mortgage, or any other business. Huge companies develop HUGE problems as we have seen. Break them up. Let specialty in all business reign. Do this NOW. No more of these huge boards and managers. Lets get down to something that is transparent. Get rid of the big GREEDY managed businesses.
You're fired!
I feel violated!
Our government officials voted to help AIG out and this is how we are repaid? The government should cancel the deal and let them go out of business.
The sheer graft and stupidity going on in our government and these corporations boggles the mind!
We need to change the way government works before it bankrupts us. And I don't mean simply changing from Republican to Democrat control.
Every politician who voted for this bailout so AIG could party with the taxpayer's money should be run out of office.
Thanks for the laugh man.
Its worse than you think. I'm pretty sure that the "trip" will be written off as a tax deduction as well. This is "business as usual" in the insurance world. Lavish retreats are the norm and are all counted as tax deductible under IRS rules.
