Re: Remember | 11:55 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
You are correct, because some publication rank byu SOS #117 currently, and after the Utah state game that will go down! Utah SOS is currently 12 and will go up after this week!

It great how byu wants to "tone down their sch.", and now you byu fans think you are going to a National Championship. It great because of your SOS the BCS will "tone down" your Sch and never give you a BCS title game with the #117 SOS. The computers only rank byu 17.24 in the country. Should have sch. Rutgers or Florida when you had your chance.....Utah is 11.34 in the computer polls.

I hope USC goes undefeated and they go to the BCS title game and Utah gets into the Rose Bowl against Penn State!

Funny.

All the things that BYU fans are saying, that are so upsetting to the Ute fans, everything, comes out of the Ute fans when BYU wins.

Why can't Utah fans take what they dish out?

Love the nit-picking on the P/I call, seems like there were 2 of those in a game that helped BYU late last November, and this one gave Utah 1 1/2 yards,(UW was pushed back 15 w/the celebration penalty). Utah still had to convert the 2, stop OSU, and score again - looks like Utah may be figuring out how to win late - still much room to improve though, cut out the turnovers and mistakes. However, if it took late game heroics to beat Utah at home last year (when they were claiming to be so much better) it seems unlikely that there will be a blowout this year -- hope to see 2 11-0 teams in Nov.

Amazing that Utah fans find ways to complain .....biggest Utah blog they've had in months and they complain about the many BYU fans who actually were congratulating them on actually pulling this game out........... Nice to see that you've got something worthwhile to have your own blog....one that didn't fizzle after one or two days.... it's been a while....when this one dries up... I'm sure you'll find you way back to BYU's.

All the bashing from both sides, though expected from you uneducated fans, is really quite stupid when you think about it. BYU AND Utah both need each other to keep rolling through their games unscathed for November 22nd to be worth caring about. It's to both program's advantage that you both remain undefeated.

All we should be hearing from BYU fans is "Great job Utes. Way to pull through." All we should be hearing from Ute fans is "Good luck in Logan tonight. Get the win."

What do you mean "Now that byu is actually winning?" Seems to me they're on about their 3rd straight year of conference domination and possible 3rd consecutive win over Utah.

Let me guess, you're among the crowd last night who booed Johnson one minute and then carried him off the field the next. Fickle Yewt "fans", if that's what you call yourselves.
When a win isn't a win... | 12:19 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
To play like that on a national stage when you're ranked 15th, playing an unranked team at home that happened to pull off a major upset the week before, is not what you need to build national cred. You can guarantee that the pollsters were watching this and wondering how Utah was ranked 15th. Sure they were playing a PAC-10 team that beat USC the week before, but that should have been incentive to play better. They may get help from the USF loss to Pitt and actually move up, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Oh, and Utah fans, keep it in the stands!
6-0 | 12:19 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Big deal you're the first to qualify for a bowl this year. The only reason you're ahead of BYU is because they haven't played yet this week and they had a bye last week. Being first to qualify means squat in the grand scheme of things. Lets see where you're at come the end of November. Then you can either rush the field or hide under the bleachers at RES like you did after the infamous Beck to Harline pass...for the ages.
Utah rolls | 12:20 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
There's not a lot to hope for as a Utah fan. So, when the sun comes out, Utah fans roll the field. When Utah wins a coin toss, the Utah fans roll the field. When Brian Johnson finishes a ballgame without a season-ending injury, Utah fans roll the field. What else is new?

Re: Gotta love Y fans | 12:25 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Anyone who watched the USC game knows that...OSU was the better team that night??? Actually anyone that watched that game and has half a brain knows that USC is by far a better team. Faster. Bigger. More talented. Oregon State won because they hit USC in the mouth from the beginning and USC didn't recover in time. OSU also had a few lucky bounces (i.e. tipped TD late in the first half and a couple punts bouncing just right inside the 10). No doubt that if that game went another quarter, USC wins. You felt like the clock couldn't run out fast enough for OSU.
Y hater | 12:27 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
All these BYU fans just come onto the message boards and run their mouths about everything. The fans did not rush the field because of the team they did because of the dramatic fashion of the game.
Lanius | 12:43 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I was wondering what the all time win/loss record between these two teams is? Wouldn't that explain who (by reasonable standards) is the better program? (and no Y fans the football world did not start in the 70's).

To Zoobie fans.... | 12:49 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Zoobie fans remember that you are 8th ranked after beating teams with a combined 3 and 11 record, after tonight when you win, it will be a combined 4 and 15, this isn't counting the first win against norther iowa by the way. They are division 2 so.... It won't be until halfway through the season until they play a winning team. That is mind boggling. Yes they were ranked at the beginning of the season but wow, impressive. You have all the reason in the world to think national championship at this point. I stand corrected.
Re: Self Righteous Arrogance | 12:51 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
As a Cougar fan, I'll respond to your "arrogant" post: I, for one, was embarrassed when Cougar fans rushed the field against Utah last year and UCLA in Vegas. I was at the BYU/Utah game and stayed right in my seat. Just because BYU does it in a similar situation, it makes it acceptable for the Ute fans to do it? It's embarrassing on both accounts.

And go ahead and call BYU fans self-righteous and arrogant, because there are certainly not any of those dressed in red! Utah fans are the most respectful, humble fans I have ever met! (tongue firmly in cheek, by the way)

Zoobies. Wow. You are the most condescending and narrow minded fan base I have ever encountered. You do not realize that YOUR attitude is NOT in line with your "supposed" moral beliefs. Lets all get along until Nov 22 and enjoy the ride. It was a great win by the UTES against a OSU team that had a GREAT game plan rolling off TE blockers into open flat, play action, and GREAT secondary coverage which limited B johnson in LUwwgis called 5-7 step drops. Yet, despite that the UTES found a way to win. GO UTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
arrogance | 1:01 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
How come it's not ok for the students to be caught up in the emotion and excitement of a win and rush the field, but it's ok (and oh so mature) for BYU fans to jingle your car keys during a basketball team when you're running over some unranked team- I had to ask the person sitting in front of me why they were all shaking their car keys and she said "it means go get on the bus" - wow - it's a different world down there.

With all the nastiness being thrown around on both sides I'm expecting some serious rioting in the streets on November 23rd. Let's all just take a deep breath and remember it's just football and fans on both sides are decent human beings.

I enjoy football as much as the next guy but there's simply no reason to get so worked up over a game.
U of U Maniacs | 1:05 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
We had a family birthday party for my first born grandchild last night, and my family could not park in front of our home due to these Utah Utes, because they block all our residential streets with all their cars and trucks. We usually have to park one of our family cars in our front of our home every day, but were not able to last evening, and many other nights we have the same problem with U of U games. My husband is 73 years old and had to walk two miles to come home because of the parking problem. This is getting ridiculous. I am tired of this and the very rude people who throw beer cans in the surrounding yards.
Third Party comment | 1:08 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Isn't it funny that the BEST opponent on BYU's schedule is...the Utes! By BYU logic, IF they beat the Utes they are a national championship contending (?)team that has proven their worth by beaten such powerhouses as ?????

Northern Iowa does not count (differant division)

BeaverFan | 1:23 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Congratulations Utes on the win, we fought hard but you pulled through in the end. Rushing the field is a bit ridiculous though; you were playing an unranked opponent on your home field. I understand, dramatic fashion of the win and everything, but you won't get respect that way. The feedback I'm seeing on it from message boards is generally negative and everyone outside of Utah is laughing at you. Keep it classy and break back into the BCS. I'm rooting for ya!

All time | 1:25 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I wonder what the all time Top 25 finishes record is for both BYU and Utah? Wouldn't that explain who really has the better football program? (yes, Utah fans, you can count all those years a half-century ago when a weak Utah team was beating up on a even weaker BYU team. How good was Utah, really, back then?)
good job utes | 1:31 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
hope you can keep up the winning with your game ending heroics.
You might have to play a more complete game against TCU and the Y but I hope the U and the Y stay undefeated till Nov 22nd-NOTHING could be better in the on going quest to show BCS system is nothing but an elitist monopoly throwing a few crumbs to non BCS schools so they don't get abolished by the feds.
that was WAY too exciting-so I don't blame college students -lets face it there just barely past being called kids- for showing emotion after such a dramatic comeback.
so congrats and good luck until nov 22nd which SHOULD shut up once and for all the mindless and repetative slams the foolish fans from both sides keep posting
but I won't hold my breath!
ONE last thought--HOW can a team that held off USC stop playing or thinking the last 2 minutes?-could it be their brains became oxygen starved from the altitude? that's sports guys!! the winners keep playing until the game is over.

Great Game | 1:33 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
UTES were amazing and pulled off a win in a seemingly lost game. That game was exciting and entertaining. It is getting top run at ESPN for college football highlights. It represented the suspense, excitement and value of college football.

Sakoda is a class act and must be respected with having the most points ever scored by a Ute.

Johnson pulled it together and remained calm and collected and delivered at the end. Godfrey and Casteel were amazing and poetic in their catches.

Brilliant sport represented in a brilliant game and comeback. The fans were excited and emotional and showed their love of the Utes by running on the field.

Way to go Utes!!!!
Observer | 1:34 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
This comment board is hilarious! And I have to say a few things as I've observed what has been said.

1- Rushing the field happens in any emotional charged game regardless of who is played. OSU came off beating #1 in the country then gave the Utes a run for their money. Utah pulled of an unbelievable comeback. Emotions were at their peak when the whistle blew. Fans rush the field. Any other fans of any other team would have done exactly the same thing in a similar situation. Unless of course your a BYU fan. BYU fans seem to know exactly all the right times to rush the field. (I'm being sarcastic by the way).

2- You live in the state of Utah. BYU and the U are rivals. Your going to get stupid comments from the other side. Expect it, live with it, and enjoy it. This board would be boring if it were just Utah singing praises.

3- Real football is played in the Big XII. Go Red Raiders! - Thats Texas Tech to all of you who live in your MWC fantasy lands.

It's amazing the Utah's SOS is so much better than BYU's, since 8 of the 11 teams are the same; not counting their head-to-head matchup.

Oh, wait a minute, BYU hasn't played UNLV, Air Force, and Utah State, yet, and Utah hasn't played Wyoming and Bye yet (so Utah has one more opponent).

It'll all even out by season's end.

see SOS for Dummies.

What were the greatest/best BYU victories of the past couple of years?

Both Utah victories? Wow the Utes must be a great team - for the 8th ranked Cougs to hang their hat on those two victories over the "Bronco" era - indeed they are headed for the National Championship! Maybe if the keep beating bottom feeder Pac 10 teams home & on the road they could be Champions of the Universe or something!
Cougar Fan | 1:39 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Nice job Utah!! I'm a BYU fan and I am stoked that the Mountain West is handing it to the Pac-10. I'm most excited to see a BYU/Utah Top 10 showdown. Keep it up Utes! Go BYU!
refs?? | 1:43 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I am embarrassed for both sides-the UTE fans who claimed refs gave the washington game to the Y and the fools posting here saying the refs gave the win to
the U. take away that 2 point conversion and what do you get --STILL A U last second field goal to win by ONE instead of THREE!!!
ALL those complaints show either way is that the posters are morons and don't know college football rules!
Penalty Doesn't Matter? | 1:43 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Oh it mattered a lot. If OSU retains a 2 point lead they treat that final possession much different. You likely would've seen three Jaquizz runs. Assuming he didn't get a first down, Utah would've had to burn their remaining timeouts and they would've been luck to have 30 seconds left after OSU punted.

Of course Utah likely would've gone for an onsides kick. If they recovered sure they still have a chance for the winning field goal. If not OSU runs some serious time off the clock and Utah would likely had to start the final drive around their own 20 (very little time left and no timeouts.)

For the record I am a Ute fan.

Cougar fans thinking BYU is a clear favorite going into November 22 think again. Utah basically spotted Air Force and OSU 14 points and still found a way to win. This year they have proven the ability to come up with the plays at the end to get it done. These experiences will only help us out in what will likely be another hard fought battle November 22.
Poor form seen in Utah | 1:46 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
By running on to the field it takes away from the hard work and effort put in on both sides of the ball. it takes away for that time for coaches and players to show eachother their respects. Wait your turn on the side lines and then if your team wants to recognize the fans they will.

-Fan in Oregon.

I am 13/13 BYU fan and 12/13 Ute Fan as I went to both schools. The win was huge for the rivalry and the dream Holy War game of 2 undefeated teams.
Way to go Johnson, he played best when it mattered most. A few concerns though, too much booing by the Ute faithful--why not encourage? BC plays like he is in water except in the hurry up offense. I suggest they play the hurry up offense all game. The biggest difference between the U and the Y is one team has a decisive QB and the other does not. I hope BC turns things around though.
Watch out for weak Wyo . . . . . they may actually lose that game. Coach Glen may lose/keep his job based on that game. Utah has replaced BYU as the most hated to visit Laramie due to you know why from last year.
re: Lanius | 1:48 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Whatever the greatest victories were that the Cougars had over the last couple of years, one thing is certain, BYU had a lot more of them (victories) than Utah.

Ludwig = Ostertag | 1:49 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Great talent, you just don't know which games or fractions of games they're going to put it on display.

Listening to the radio this morning, DJ/PK were blaming the inconsistency on Brian Johnson, and yes, Johnson was not sharp for much of the game. But I think he is only trying to execute what lousy plays Ludwig is sending in. And as has been pointed out earlier, once Ludwig opened up the offense and stopped trying to jam the ball into the turf one yard upfield, they pulled off two magnificent drives.

In the end it's still a W, but every week I get antsy wondering whether Ludwig will throw a wrench in the works. This kind of performance clearly will not beat BYU or a BCS opponent, and may not even beat TCU. Figure it out Kyle, your buddy's not holding up his end of the bargain!

GO UTES!!
