would byu fans comment on there team and let the utah fans have the comments for there team lets not forget which team has already gone undeafeeted and already broke the BCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
re:Sam | 10:55 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I agree.

First of all, a short kickoff after going up 8 points.

Then on their final drive, OSU's incomplete pass, run out of bounds, another incomplete pass out of bounds and a 30 yard kick.

BYU could have score 21 points during the last two minutes against OSU.

Utah got lucky

its sad that they have to rely on their kicker

but tonight I was a Ute. Way to go...miracle finish.
UTAH MAN | 10:56 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
We were lucky to win that one, but heh, the Y. beat UW because of a bad call and so now we're even...that said there's no way that we beat the Y. right now, we're just too inconsistent. Max Hall is going to shred us if Kyle doesn' change some things up.
facials-2 | 10:56 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
But also I gotta say--- (and with degrees from both the red AND the blue, no one can ever charge me with bias in either direction). But most of the stupid, unnecessary derogatory comments on these BYU/Utah posts recently are coming from my Utah brothers, unfortunatelyincluding those pretending to be Cougar fans. Put it away, guys! No reason we cant cheer for both of these great teams until we each have to pick our favorite at the showdown in Nov. Right? Of course, right!

And as for you Ute-haters, cmon guys--- tonights incredible comeback HAS to be a dagger to the gut of all the BCS (especially the PAC-10) elitists. Who from the MWCeven the staunchest of the anti-Utes---could possibly not be proud of how this great Utah team took a big breath, set their positions with 1:48 remaining and down by 8, gritted their teeth, did a tool check of what they had to work with, and then systematically dismantled a very good OSU team that had just taken apart #1 the week before? GREAT JOB, UTAH! Im looking forward to seeing both of our great Utah schools in the Top 10 going into the final game!
Controversial win | 10:57 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Add this Ute win to that category
Geeze | 10:57 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
That was one ugly win.

Did either team have any offense?
BYU Junkie | 10:57 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I love my Cougs and hope they beat Utah. Problem is that all the teams we beat keep getting beat. It makes us look pretty untested. Setting N. Iowa aside, our competition has won a total of 3 games this season. I still think we are a good team. Congrats Utes and good luck in November.
BYU vs Wash | 10:58 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
There was no contraversy. Read the rulebook. You cant throw a ball 30 yards in the air after you score. Dumb? yes. But rules are rules. Lineman dont get a break just cuz they get excited and jump offsides. BYU won. End of story ute fans
Whoa Nellie | 10:59 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Not a very convincing Top 20 performance except for the last two minutes. Looks like OSU's coaching was a little suspect in their last drive.

The penalty on that first two-point conversion try at the end was not a good call because of the position of the ref who threw the flag. It was a poorly thrown pass and clearly uncatchable, except of course to the ref who could not see that but still managed to find his yellow flag way after the play ended.

I agree with go utes at 10:36 but more like a 28 point loss to the Cougars. However, first things first. The Utes will need to step it up a few notches to get past TCU.

BIAS comment. Nice try."

Do ya think so, there Sherlock?
BYU fans beware | 11:01 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
You're not going to shutout or blowout all of your opponents. You're even going to play down against inferior opponents at times. You'll most likely have your fair share of "survival" games like the Utes did tonight. In fact, you've already had one against Washigton. So be careful about what you say tonight about this Ute victory because I think most reasonable sports fans would agree you'll be in the Utes position more than once this season.
Embarrassed | 11:01 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Some of my fellow BYU fans are being bad sports. This was an important win, let's celebrate with them. The Utes weren't playing up to their potential until the end. The have the talent to get the job done when it counts.
chester | 11:01 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Look, the game against BYU is way down the road so fans and players should keep worrying because BYU is that good. Just think about "that team down south" okay and BYU will take it one game at a time like they've done in the last couple of years. Utah's final drive was impressive to get into scoring position for Sakoda and he is your MVP no doubt about it. A great game to watch even though the Utes were dominated in the second half but Kudos for getting it done when they had to. A sign of a good team.
Bail out | 11:01 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
First our government gives 700 Billion to companies that cant walk and chew gum and now the refs call the PI..... The words everyone will remember from 2008 is BAIL- OUT

(just some comic relief, go gougs
Greg | 11:02 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
There is no way I thought the Utes would pull this game out with 2 minutes to play! They could not move the ball at all in the 2nd half and then to score 11 points in the last 1 1/2 minutes! The Utes looked bad most of the game. But as a BYU fan I have to congratulate the Utes on an exciting game and a good win over a team that just beat USC last week. As a BYU fan I was really excited (and surprized) to see Utah win it like they did.
LOL at UTES!! | 10:40 p.m. | 11:02 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
"Too bad, BYU fans. Good luck against that mighty powerhouse Utah State! Another toughie for you!"

Some Utah fans are so clueless they'll rag on BYU for playing the same team that Utah beat a couple weeks ago.

Next, they'll be ragging on BYU for scheduling that powderpuff team up on the hill.
BYU FAN | 11:02 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
HEY BYU FAN,
stay the heck off the board. Its utah fans to cheer toight. You guys got a big break with a lousy call in the win over washington, we got a correct call with the win over oregon.
go utes
As a BYU fan... | 11:02 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I am licking my chops after this game. hahahahahaha
To Mark in Peoria | 11:05 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Ya, let's compare apples and oranges. Tonight's controversial call is nothing like the BYU-UW call. The UW call was perfectly correct by the written rule (like the rule or not) and made by a PAC-10 official! Also, it didn't cost UW the game. They still had a chance to tie had BYU not stuffed them on the last play of the game.

The PI call tonight was literally for the game, made by a Mtn West official, in favor of the home team, judgement call, etc.

I didn't see the game, just followed it online, but still wanted to point out your flawed logic in comparisons.

Bottom line is: I agree with you 100% on Louie and our opinions.

Keep winning Utes, even if by a whisker, at home, against unranked opponents! We both are best off if we're undefeated on Nov 22nd!
re:Mark in Peroia | 11:05 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
You listened on the radio and have an opinion on the interference call?

Lucky your radio comes in that well.

Dude, I listened to the game on my morse code receiver, and I could tell it was phony.

Just goes to show that BJ needs two tries to make the big play. That ball was thrown 5 feet behind the player.

Game to the officials.

Rush the field | 11:06 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Since when does a # 15 ranked team beat a 2-2 team from one of the weakest conferences in the country at home constitute rushing the field?

Ute fans actions spoke volumes about where they feel their team stacks up compared with the unranked pac 10.

My reaction as a BYU fan was a simple sigh of relief that the second best team in our conference towed the line and found a way to squeek by on what they were supposed to do! (although it was with officiating help)
Wow | 11:06 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
All I have to say is as a BYU fan, I am now more scared of the Utah St. game tomorrow that Nov. 22 with Utah. Congrats Utes, but your season is starting to look like it will end up with three losses. TCU, BYU, and we'll throw the vegas bowl in there too ha
BYU Fan | 11:06 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Great, great win! Only wish it was on ESPN.
JazzFaninHouston | 11:07 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Utah is ranked ahead of BYU in some computer rankings. However, I would say that BYU deserves to be in the top 10 just as much as Texas Tech, Texas and MO. Their schedules are just as wimpy and MO has no defense. Further, LSU has only one quality win by 5 points over Auburn (which has no offense).

Utah will move up in the rankings and could be close to the top 10 by Sunday depending on who loses besides South Florida.
hello | 11:08 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
How can anybody down play this win? That was a pretty good team that just came off a win against the #1 team in the country. As a fan of the state of Utah with no loyalties eitherway, BYU fans have no business downgrading Utahs schedule, has been quite abit better than BYU's and did I see someone compare OSU and Washington as equal?
Big B | 11:10 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
What a great ending! Do you believe in magic? BJ came through in the clutch. THe OSU head coach blew it several times. GO UTES! Kyle & Ludwig outcoached Riley. BJ played better down the stretch than Mavao. WOW! 6-0 Now Utes head for Laramie and lame duck Cowboy Joe Glenn and 'Pokes. Take 'em one game at a time.
The Call | 11:10 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
was correct. It was pass interference. No gift from the officials.

Congrats Utes from this avid BYU fan!

You earned this one, the hard way, but you earned it nonetheless.

I have to say this about Johnson; I'm glad he's your quarterback, and not ours. His spotty play would drive me nuts. Pick six INTs, fumbles, overthrown receivers, sacks because he holds onto the ball too long, and just generally poor decision making. But, he did engineer those two last minute drives. I'll give him that.

Looking forward to November.
Random Thoughts | 11:11 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Not so fast here people. OSU is a much improved team, anyone who KNOWS college football KNOWS this fact. They beat the then #1 team in the country and a very good USC team and almost beat the #15 team in the country tonight.

Utah DESERVES to be ranked in the top 20, they were 5-0 and are now 6-0. Get a clue people.

BYU also deserves to be ranked in the top 20, they are 4-0 and after Friday will be 5-0.

There could be an argument made as to which team deserves to be ranked higher right now, Utah would win it due to the schedule thus far but BYU came in ranked high and they deserve their top 10 ranking.

The bottom line is this....who cares? Both teams are ranked high, both are undefeated and lets hope on Novemeber 22nd they both still are. It will be the most storied matchup in this rivalry, period!

BTW, #10 South Florida lost tonight so it looks like Utah will move up at least one spot...They will move up clueless people out their.
Utes | 11:13 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I dare you to play on Nov 22nd like you did tonight! Take away that stud Louie Sakota and you're cleaning all kinds of egg off your face tonight!
Wow | 11:13 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
My son plays against a 2-3 team this week in his 7th grader leage. if they win can I storm the feild too?
You guys are something else | 11:13 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I've been around many rivalries; UW/WSU, UCLA/USC, Cal/Stanford, ASU/Arizona, Army/Navy,Ohio State/Michigan. The Utah/BYU rivalries is probably the MOST obnoxious rivalry I've come across.
bad call? | 11:13 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Are you kidding me? A) That was a pass interference. B) Utah still would have won the game even if they didn't get the 2 point conversion. I know that they don't require knowing much math at BYU but trust me Utah would have still won by 1. C) I seem to recall a game up here in Seattle where BYU was bailed out by a totally bogus celebration penalty. Grow up Cougs. Utah has beat 3 teams that have knocked off top 15 teams. BYU has man handled terrible teams at home and nearly lost to a bottom ten team in UW on the road. Until you beat a team on the road that doesn't rank in the bottom 15 in D1 football shut your mouths because you have done nothing yet.

Great win UTES. Way to come through in the end there BJ!
relief | 11:14 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Another BYU fan offers sincere congratulations!
I was worried, but it keeps the hope of an epic game alive.

A top 10 ranked team against a top 5 ranked team at the very end of the year for the last game can only be a good thing. Neither team would drop much in rankings with a loss and the team that wins, wins big... perhaps with all the upsets going on... it could be really big.

I hope both teams the best until that fatefull day in November
Wow | 11:14 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Utah is ranked and at home, and benefits from lousy OSU clock management, and needs an official to cover for Johnson's terrible pass...

I can see why the fans would storm the field.

I wonder if the stadium will be as quiet Nov. 22 as the last time BYU played at RES?
YaleLaw2L | 11:16 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Congrats, Utah Utes!

What a great finish. OSU did to you what they did to USC, but you guys still pulled out a win, a huge win at that. This will surely bode well with poll voters. And with Pitt knocking off #10 USF, look to see yourselves in the top 14.

It's nice to see Utah and BYU receive the recognition they deserve. Utahns, be proud!

Utah by 5 | 11:17 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Go Utes!!!!
All you BwhineU fans complaining about the officiating?

Oh how soon we forget...
Hey Utes | 11:17 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Act like you've been there before. Storming the field is for beating a higher ranked team or beating your rival.

Great game otherwise!
Loyal | 11:18 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
How any of you BYU fan can be getting on here writing good things about the utes is so offensive to me as a Cougar fan. I find it almost dishonest and deceptive. Our wins have been legit. We have beat some good teams. Just cause Washington has not won yet does not mean they are not a good team, just had bad luck. THEY ARE A PAC 10 TEAM!! same with UCLA. Northern Iowa has only lost 1 game!!
Lol | 11:18 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I think many of you are getting way ahead of yourselves with all this undefeated matchup talk. I for one, think there is at least a 50/50 chance that one of the two will drop a game before the anticipated matchup. One game at a time.
Hey Ute player | 11:19 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
"lets not forget which team has already gone undeafeeted and already broke the BCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Well then certainly dont forget the team that went undefeated and won a National Championship!!!! (ill give you one hint, its not utah st.
re:Utahmansir | 10:53 p.m. | 11:19 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
"Utah just beat a team that dominated USC."

...and all the rest of the Utah fans that think this is Quality because of what OSU did last week.

Do we really need to pull out that "Six Degrees of Separation Kevin Bacon Ute Logic" again?

Different weeks, different games.

Take the win the officials gave you, storm the field, and see ya'll in November.
Anonymous | 11:20 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
yeah but did the utes beat the number 1 team in the nation, no they didnt. they beat an oregon st that isnt that good. And if your going to rush the field ute fans, do it against someone that is really good. dont forget utes fans you were picked to win this game.
Great win but...... | 11:20 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
For a moment there I thought the U was going to ruin all of the credibility the rest of the conference worked so hard to get.

A couple of observations:

1. This was the first time I've seen the utes play this year and I've got to honestly say they looked TERRIBLE!!!!! How are you #15???

2. You did get bailed out by the refs. You benefited from a horrible quarterback that happened to throw the ball on the other side of the DB rather than to his receier

3. You're lucky you have Sakoda

4. It would be an atrosity if you didn't move down a few spots after that pitiful performance

5. Most importantly do you guys think you are part of the big sky or something? Who rushes the field after they win a game they were SUPPOSED to dominate. Just when I thought you made the conference look good you go and make us look like the BCS's little brother that finally won a game against big bro.

6. The team you played tonight was NOT the team that beat USC be honest with yourselves
Utah gets my vote! | 11:20 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Oregon State beat top 10 USC, UNLV beat top ten Arizona State, Michigan beat top ten Wisc, Air Force beat a good Houston team- WEBER and UTAH STATE are who they are. I can't believe that a real football fan would not give Utah a lot of credit for what they have done this year. As a fan of college football I am very impressed with what the UTES have done this year. What a great job by KYLE and his staff. From the national press I read nothing but good about the Utes and how they are winning. Thank You LOUIE! Jay
Storm the field. . . Really? | 11:21 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Wow, I guess it was a good win but is the 2004 season really so long ago that Ute fans don't remember how to handle a big win? Isn't Oregon St. the sort of team that fans would rush the field after a win back in the pre-mcbride era. Lets show a little more pride you guys.

Storm the feild,

Really?
BYU fan | 11:21 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
I'm sick of hearing about bad calls. Didn't the Utes win by 3 in overtime? Take away those supposed "free" 2 pts and they still pull out the W. Good job pulling of together at the end Utes. Sakoda is your x-factor!
BluBilly | 11:22 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008

congrats Utes. Louie is the best kicker in the MWC.
