Sometimes it takes a few hard lessons to realize how to play this game at the pro level. Like Brewer did, improving vastly between years, Almond could do the same and provide the Jazz with a solid off-the-bench player this year. We need that when others ahead of him are either injured or having an off night.

Like in college football, depth is key to how far an NBA team can go.

Once Almond learns how to be a team player and can learn to play defense (that's what got Brewer is starting job), the team can only be helped in its effort to make it to the finals this year.

Good luck, Morris!

I really hope Mo can learn from Jerry and become a great all around player. He has the potential to be one of the best players on this team. His shooting is text-book, he just needs to learn some passing and d skills. Once he learns that he will be a HUGE offensive weapon for us.

What we need | 11:46 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
is more teams in the NBA, so every player that wants to play can make a team. Increase the rosters to 20 players. Any city with more than 500,000 in their metropolitan area should be given a franchise. That could make at least 100 teams in the USA alone. We could also have international teams in every country. Why....we could play year round, and then have a soccer like playoff every 4 years. This way players like Almond can make a NBA team....no problem. Why did the Jazz sign Knight? Apparently, they are worried about D'Will staying with the club, I suppose. Knight can't guard my Mother. Boozer will also no doubt bail out and go back east with his buddies (like Obama). The Jazz are going nowhere, and when Larry H. Miller either passes away, or decides to finally give it up, and cash out, there will be no team in Utah. He is to be commended for lasting this long. The Jazz are probably only 4 or 5 players away from establishing a dynasty.

Go Almond! We're pulling for you to make the team.

Shouldn't the aforementioned players all be on the court @ the same time?
Almond Joy? | 10:37 p.m. Oct. 3, 2008
Why are we giving this guy a nickname before he has even proven himself? This stuff really turns me off with sports now- especially the NBA. It seems to be more about the personality and player than it is about the team and winning. Let's see how he does before we start calling the guy Almond Joy.

The kid already had a nickname on draft night as Almond joy. Some "Jazz Nuts" at the draft party held a sign that said Almond Joy and they were joyous, so Craig Bolerjack stole the line and the name stuck. That is the answer to your question.
