When did you graduate HS? I'm guessing not in the last 10 years. You will not stop kids from using cell phones and giving them an F if they do? Are you serious? Take the phone away yes but an F? The first time you give a kid an F which results in a loss of their 4.0 because of texting I'm pretty sure that's not going to swing well with the parents. Get with the times stone agers.

If everyone concedes what teachers have to offer in a classroom is important enough hear, there is no room for cell phones there. When people come to my office and ask for advice, I'll walk out when they grab their phone. They have to decide whether what I say is important enough to extend me some courtesy by listening or whether whomever they are talking to is more important than what they came to talk to me about. Some doctors post signs in their offices that state if a patient gets on their cell phone, the doc will move on to the next patient.
Young people need to learn this now.

Cell Phone | 3:10 p.m. Oct. 8, 2008
I really think cell phones are a way of life for everyone. When I forget mine at home I am lost without it. I have four children that have cell phones and I like the fact that I can get a hold of them when I need to. And they can get a hold of me.I think the more we make a big deal out of it the more kids are going to abuse the problem

To sit there and say you take cell phones is an utter lie. The administration isn't going to allow that. Why you ask? They will have to deal with all the parents threatening to sue. Don't make big body here. The truth is the kids and parents have all the power. Administrators with their large salaries simply go with the flow. You would be asked to stop immediately!! If not they would surplus you to another school. Simply saying you do not work for this school, you work for the district. Now that's real!!
RE:STEVE | 9:53 p.m. Oct. 11, 2008
Your statement is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I have EVER read!! A teacher with a bucket full of cell phones and a substitute with a hammer, GET REAL...do you know how much hot water that "teacher" would be in. A principal is not going to allow that nor would parents. This means they (parents) would have to go purchase a new phone for their kids. Lawsuits would come fast and furious. Take your fake stories elsewhere and stop looking for attention.

I have a HS student who witnesses students using text messaging to CHEAT all the time (sending answers to quizzes and tests to their friends, etc.).

Students sneak the phones in, open the message during the exam, copy the answers, and get a higher score than they deserve. They are making it difficult for an honest person to succeed by hard work and study.

Cellphones should be banned from the classroom and if used to cheat, I support failing the student. If the consequences are minimal, they are not a deterrent. Make sure they know that they are risking their 4.0 if they choose to cheat.

I worked my way through school and learned the material to earn my grades. If kids cheat their way through today, where are we as a country going to be when these cheating students are in charge of corporations, universities, research, etc. They will be useless. They are hurting their and our future.

Leave phones in lockers to be checked between classes or at lunch. Few things are so critical to a schoolchild that a one hour delay will make a difference. If a true emergency, parents can call the office!

Ok people if the sudent is ceating with their phone chances are Karma! Duh... and not all studends abuse the rules. Most high school students Do text in class and yes i would agree that is the distraction but it is their fault. I am all for taking phone away if cought using it. But Baning phones for even those who use them correctly. I have been to a middle shchool that right at you walk in the door and alarm goes off if you have a cell phone and they take it right then. That is Stupid..... and wayy out of mind. is this really were you want your taxes to go? seriously just drop the issue!. the more you bann them the more kids will keep them coming
I am a high school student in 10th grade. I disagree With banning not the poit that i have a cell phone just the point that i DONT USE IT. It is never the cell phones fault it is the Person whom Carrys it!
