I'd like to spend 15 minutes with a presidential candidate. I don't have the status of a professional athlete, and I don't have any connections. I'm impressed with Obama as well. Still haven't decided who to vote for though.

I wonder how Paul enjoyed that thumping his alma mater took at impressive Boise State's hand last night?!
Carlos Boozer? | 8:38 a.m. Oct. 2, 2008
"The way he talks, I want that guy leading my country." Wow, never a truer word spoken. Boozer's feelings are representative of a huge majority of Obama's supporters. He's an extremely skilled orator-- nothing more. What has he done in his career? Where is his experience? He's done nothing and he has none.
I'm sure Carlos Boozer and Jay-Z are well aware of this too though...

Hey Boozer, remember who pays your paycheck. Keep your mouth shut, you are already on thin ice here after you did not show up in the playoffs last year. I did not know you loved Obama, I really didn't care. If the Jazz were smart, they would trade you for anything. Keep A.K. and loose the Booze.
Does it matter? | 8:47 a.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Why does it matter that Boozer met Obama? What makes Boozer's opinion of who would be the best president any more valid than mine? Or yours?

It bugs me that we pay attention to celebrities' political opinions, like they have some kind of insight that makes them uniquely qualified to know what makes a good leader.

Please, Carlos, don't become the Barbra Streisand of the NBA. Just play ball, that's all.

One more Reason... | 9:15 a.m. Oct. 2, 2008
That Boozer is no Malone.
Appreciative | 10:26 a.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Thanks Carlos! You're a true American hero like John Mccain. I was a fence sitter regarding Obama but now I am truly voting for him. The time you spent with Him is good enough for me!

Go Obama and Booze!

I like Boozer and Obama!

Obama is a revolutionary figure in our time, and the Jazz are about to revolutionize the NBA Championship!

Go Jazz, and Go Obama!!

Apparently it doesn't take much to impress him.....
STEVE-O | 12:57 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
WHY SO ANGRY....

Why are you being so childish about us being so childish? And Boozer is certainly entitled to his opinion. Just because he is an NBA star doesn't mean he should ignore politics and other important events. I'm glad he takes an interest.
Would you prefer to have a Josh Howard on the team?

Someone on LHM's payroll endorsing a Democrat? Gasp! Larry Miller must be rolling over in his grave!

what do obama and boozer have in common.... they are both soft on defense
SoCalUtahFan | 3:03 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008

That's all Obama good for...just words!!!
Just talk well and become the president? GET SERIOUS people! The guy does not qualify!!!
Dave | 3:56 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
snoozer, now that was funny!

It is pretty obvious who the best qualified Presidential candidate is when the educated, job producing members of society are nearly unanimously for one candidate, and the entertainers and athletes are for the other.

Anyone who takes political advice from an athlete or entertainer probably believes that Boozer actually cares about his team's success and not just his paycheck as well.

Carlos - How can a person (or people) be led down the wrong path? -- by DECEPTION ..... and guess who the great deceiver is?
While you may be in a position to buy all the "toys" you want right now, I feel sorry for you.
This from a fellow JDHS graduate (1964)that up until you went soft at the end of last season, was one of your biggest supporters.
You are indeed fortunate to be paid for playing a game you (and many others) enjoy.
Someone needs to talk to you about the importance of establishing and maintaining the proper values.
I confess -- I did not have it right when I was your age either.

My only question is: What state is Boozer considered a resident? His vote may actually matter if it is in Florida.
You people are embarrassing | 4:39 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Sorry Carlos. The commentors think they need to criticize you and critique what you said because you support Obama instead of McCain. Just ignore them. If you had said the same thing about John McCain they would be calling for LM to give you a max contract offer tomorrow. In their world, if you do not support the same candidate than you are clearly a bad person. I apologize for my fellow fans lack of intelligence. Keep working hard and best of luck this year.
Dave is biased | 4:58 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Dave, the educated, job producing members of society are nearly unanimous for one candidate? Really? Where do you get those stats from, Dave? If you're referring to the millionaires and above, then of course they're going to support McCain as they're going to get even bigger tax breaks and be able to continue to exploit tax loopholes.

Get out of Utah, buddy. There are plenty of educated people with productive jobs that support Obama. Sure, Obama is going to prolong the upcoming depression, but at least we won't be going to war with Russia, Iran, and North Korea and we won't risk the possibility of Sarah Palin ever becoming president of the United States.
Wow | 6:37 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Booze even you are blinded by the way he speaks?

Wow.

"CHANGE! HOPE!"

"Uh, sir... how?"

"Uh....because...CHANGE!"

*Loud Cheers*

What is wrong with you Utah people? So a celebrity voices his oppinion on a political candidate. Get over it! I am so glad that I don't live around people are so biased and racist anymore. Wake up, Utah! I really hope we show are smarts and go Blue this year!
Oh boy | 7:44 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Boozer's reasoning for supporting Obama's is the same as most other Obama supporters I've talked to. They all say essentially the same thing: the way he talks makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. This is NOT, I repeat NOT the reason you vote for someone. You vote for someone because of their positions on important issues, the things that affect your life and your children's lives. You don't vote for someone just because they speak well.
Ing | 8:34 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Which is exactly why I'm planning to vote for Obama--his positions on most issues are more palatable to me than the Republican party line. McCain is a strong candidate, though; even though I don't agree with a lot of the Republican stances he espouses, I think we'd be in good hands if he became president. I just like Obama's viewpoints and agenda better, and I am also convinced that he has the intelligence and strength to do the job well.

I don't care if the president is a skilled orator...it helps with elections, and it's a nice bonus, but that's not the main qualification for the job.

I don't see what the deal is with people hacking on Boozer for expressing his opinion when asked. Get off it, people.

And by the way... Go Jazz!
Open your eye America | 10:38 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008
Obama is not even worth a your time. Word and more word and no action...he just wants your change.
West Jordan Resident | 12:04 a.m. Oct. 3, 2008
I am totally voting for Obama precisely because his position on economic issues. I've never agreed with Bush's (and Orrin Hatch's) idea that reducing taxes on the rich somehow benefits the rest of us. Also, plunging our country into a huge deficit isn't my idea of a good economic policy.

Vote McCain and continue watching the economy spiral downwards as it has the last 8 years, or give Obama a chance to make change? I'll choose Obama easily.

To Carlos Boozer? and Open your eye America,

Here are some of Obama's qualifications:He was elected President of the Harvard Law Review, graduated from Harvard Law School MAGNA CUM LAUDE, created a voter registration that registered 150,000 new voters; he taught for 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, he served 8 years as a State Senator, representing a district with over 750,000 people, and served as Chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services Committee; he served 4 years in the US Senate, representing a state of 13 million people, and he sponsored 131 bills; additionally, he served in the Foreign Affairs, Evnironment and Public Works, and Veteran's Affairs Committees.

So, for all of you naysayers: before you go out and slander Obama, turn off the Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, or Bill O'Reilly and do a little homework, so you don't sound so ignorant.

To all of you Utahns who are breaking from the normal voting block, well done! It's refreshing to see some Utah natives who actually think before they vote, rather than just showing up and punching the red.
