Why don't we fire Al Davis. He has single handedly destroyed what was once a great football program.
The NFL should institute and enforce a law prohibiting idiots from owning a football team in the NFL. The Raiders will never be able to hire a good coach until "Big Al" is out of the picture.
this makes me love to hate the raiders even more. they will never be any good as long as al davis is involved!
Play fair. I think they should give him a big bonus, after all, he did as much as the CEO's of WaMu, Fannie and Freddie did.
Let's face it, until Davis passes on, the Raiders will continue to be horrible. As a longtime Raider fan, it gets harder every year to see his strange antics and eccentric behavior. There is hope but it based on how much longer Davis will be alive. What was once a competitive advantage for the Raiders (Davis & his ego)has now become a liability. There are plenty of capable individuals with money that would love to own the Raider brand and turn it around. Until Davis gives up the ghost, it will be a rough go for all of us Raider fans.
Playing gotcha with Kiffen is also wrong. Davis blows big money with contracts on aging players but then wont turn around and give Kiffen the money he earned for coaching the team (and yes he earned every dollar of it). Just waiting for the 2nd coming of Mike Shanahan and have Kiffen come back and haunt the Raiders as the coach of the Chiefs or Chargers.
Why would anybody want this job? Davis doesn't give any coach adequate time to pull this team out of the cellar. It takes at least three years to build a team in the NFL. You can't have a good team if you change coaches every season.
Best thing for Kiffin, not sure about the Raiders. Kiffin wanted the Raiders to fire him, now the Raiders and Al Davis are on the hook to pay all of his contract since he was fired, rather than him resigning. Again, Kiffin is a good young coach, he'll land somewhere where he is appreciated.
Picture this, Al Davis and George Steinbrenner team up as co-owners of the Raiders and Yankees. Now that would be a bronx Zoo.
