Curious George | 8:17 p.m. Sept. 30, 2008
It doesn't take much imagination for anyone to make a pretty good guess that this has to do with personnel issues. For at least 10 years, if not longer, the Uintah School District has continually been in the news for making stupid personnel decisions, including firing people for no reason in the middle of a school year, terminating older employees, multiple incidents of nepotism, etc. It's about time the AG's office took a long and hard look at what has been going on out there.

This is extremely disturbing. The State has no real right to be secretive about it's internal problems as it's rightly owned by the citizens of Utah.

Open up about what is going on. If the worry is over reputations; don't worry about it. The public school systems has rotten reputations as it is. A few more scandals won't make much difference to most of it's profiteers.
Lawyers don't keep their motions | 9:13 p.m. Sept. 30, 2008
"'I don't think secrecy orders are that unusual in criminal investigations,' said Jeff Hunt, a Salt Lake-based attorney who regularly represents Utah media outlets, including The Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News. 'I think what is very unusual is for the secrecy order to not even be on the docket of the court...or to get a copy of it so you can challenge it. That's very unusual.'"

I have to agree with Mr. Hunt. There is no reason to keep this information secret and it's becoming clear that there may never have been a warrant issued in the first place and that the search was unlawful and illegal and was conducted without a warrant.

It's fairly clear that the warrant wasn't filed in the 3rd or 8th District Courts so where was it filed? The 3rd District Court covers Salt Lake County where the Attorney Generals office is located and the 8th District Court cover Uintah County where the Uintah School District is located. So why were neither of these courts chosen to file the warrant?

When asked for a copy of the motion the Attorney General's office filed for the secrecy order it is denied. They don't keep them!!!!
