I followed the story of Knut and his zookeeper Thomas Doerflein with great interest. I was so impressed by the dedication and love this grown man had for this cute and cuddly creature.
I am really sad about this unexpected news, that he had suddenly passed away.
The story also was a part of my home, since my father's family lived in Berlin. I shed some tears!
May he rest in peace!

In this July file photo polar bear Knut plays with zookeeper Thomas Doerflein in the Berlin zoo. The zookeeper who gained fame for hand-rearing the beloved polar bear was found dead in his Berlin apartment Monday. Doerflein was 44-years old.
