I really appreciate this article, Hermano Card. It would gladden my heart to know you read my comment.

When I first came across the excerpts which have become known as "The Proclamation on the Economy", I was under the impression that it was an official proclamation, similar to The Family: A Proclamation to the World. I appreciate being able to read the full text of the original doctrine.

Part of the reason I feel moved by what is taught in this document is because of the great disparity among those in and out of our faith in our own nation and throughout the world. I feel our brethren, circa 1875, hit the nail on the head in identifying one of the great evils faced in their day. I feel those same evils persist today in a greatly magnified way. It reminds me of the 13th chapter of Helaman.

I find it ironic when I see how many Utah businesses use the name Zion for financial gain, while rejecting the principles that Zion is founded upon. I rarely meet an individual who even bats an eye at this.

Any thoughts on this?

TYPO at the end of the second paragraph. I meant "document", not "doctrine".
