These 401(K)'s and others retirement accounts are very vulnerable and dependent on stock market stability. The american people have been duped by government and the stock market in false and misleading security of their investments. Their retirements are 'at risk' investments with no guarantees or government backing and subject to losses as an unsecured investment. After the crash of 1929 and many americans losing their retirements and cash to stock market collapse is why the Social Security Administration was created. It was to guarantee every american paying in to it that they will have some sort of retirement income. The sole purpose of the craze to put americans retirement into the financial world was a source of cash to float and use as assets to barginingg and trade by the already strapped financial markets. The same thing that happened in the crash of 1929 is happing today, americans are losing their retirement funds to abuse and mishandling. Our legislators need to scarpe this kind of retirement system and return everyone back to the SSA and secure its funds against government using it as a welfare system for the poor. The SSA funds are private individual accounts that belong to individuals.
