Lets give BYU the props they deserve. They are number 11 in the poll that matters, the coaches poll. Who cares about the biased AP poll? Go COUGS!

What gives with the AP?

What is the Deal with the AP poll? Who votes on these things? BYU has fluxuated from 15 to 18 and back up to 14th all in 3 weeks. While the coaches poll has stayed relatively constant.
Is all the AP poll looks at is how badly a team beats another with no respect for the W? So if im looking at this correctly it implies that a team will be voted hire based on a blow out. Thats a dangras slope to slide on when there is no respect for teams and each team is out just to see how high up the score they can run? (not saying BYU did this-they had their first string out by end of 3rd quarter). But looks like thats a strategy that coaches and teams might be tempted to play with when trying to climb the polls.

Cougar Fan from Nowthwest

Lets face it. BYU cant afford to become complacent now. They play Wyoming this next week and other teams that are less than par. They can ill afford to play down their game. They will have to be flawless and play for their own respect (perfection) these next coming games. Up till they meet TCU. Then there will be their next test.

BYU is...

The Real Deal!

One game at a time...

Utah routed UCLA in Pasadena last year, only to get beat like government mule by UNLV.

Congrats to the Cougs, but the most unlikely team can beat the most favored next week.

The Utes played fine as well yesterday.

Wrong

Utah had UCLA at home last year. BYU played in Pasadena. Utah's win was still impressive.

UCLA @ Utah

Utah beat UCLA at Utah.

looking forward

byu and utah will both meet undefeated at the end of the season and byu will rout them just like they did UCLA yesterday. I'm callin it now. any takers?

Wil

The best thing that could happen to BYU and Utah is for them both to be undefeated by that final game of the year. A true BYU fan should be rooting for Utah till the end and visa versa. Whatever the case might be, both are great teams and both deserve more respect from the general public.

Also, how about the MWC beating the PAC-10 this week 4-0 and four MWC teams being 3-0.

GO Mountain West Conference!!!
GO UTAH!!!
GO BYU!!!

You're all awesome!

Josh

BYU and Utah undefeated going into the Holy War? I don't think so. Utah has a tendency to start slow. TCU, Air Force, Oregon State, and BYU are not Michigan(who had 2 players on the team who had even played a snap of d-1 ball) UNLV, and Utah State

BYU blue

I agree with looking forward. Both BYU and Utah are both good but no defense in the country is good enough to stop BYU's offense with Austin Collie and Fui back to old and Unga as good as ever and max hall throwing for 7td's and Dennis Pita with unreal numbers. They're unstopable!

Re: Wil/Re: Josh

Who says a true BYU fan needs to cheer for the Utes? That's illogical. If BYU ran the table, it wouldn't matter. They're positioned too well for it to matter. Beating a ranked Utah gives more credibility, but it isn't important.

And Josh, I don't understand the claim to Utah starting slow and then pointing out their opponents in the middle and end of the season. Or perhaps you were speaking of their games starting slow...if so, they have averaged 24 points by half time in three games. Am I saying that Utah will go undefeated? No. But I don't understand the logic.

BYU looks to only have two more opponents that pose a threat...TCU and Utah. And though it was a shut out, BYU's D didn't prove as much as it would seem. Before you look for my address to bomb my house, look at the facts...UCLA's offense is horrible, playing with 3rd string anything important...portions of whom are MWC leftovers. It's going to be a long season for the Bruins.

Let's talk about the possibility of an undefeated matchup toward the end of October...at that point it might be worth discussing if it's still possible.

For Lunch, Baby

BYU chowed down on Chow and his team. Dental floss anyone?

From Pac-10 Country

I live in AZ and one of the funniest things I saw in the paper today was this...."The Pac-10 goes 0-4 against the Mountain West, yikes"

The Pac-10 is the most overrated conference in the country. Way to go, MWC. Way to hand it to them.

Now for BYU...all that matters in Wyoming! It's all about Wyoming. Nothing else matters. FOCUS!

to BYU BLUE that commented that no defense in the country can stop BYU, I think you may be reaching a bit there. I will be the first to give major ups to BYU they look good. But I think that if you put them on the field with any of the top 10 teams, it would be harder to move the ball against than 2 bottom dwelling pac 10 teams and NIU. They may be closing the gap between them at the big boys, but there is still quite a distance to make up.

No doubt

Any doubt that could have been had about the Cougars' ability to compete should be dispelled. Great Job Cougars (and Utes and all the rest of the conf (esp. UNLV) except for SDSU)!

Big D

Man was that a great game. That's the kind I like.

Every thing right for BYU - nothin right for UCLA.

What really matters is Wyomimg- GO COUGS

BCS!

AP Poll doesn't matter anyways. The Coaches Poll is what counts in terms of the BCS!

Utah Man

BYU, Team and fans, let me congratulate you on finaly getting it. Do you understand why you dropped in th poles after washington? There is no reason that game should not have had a similar result. This was a great game for you, great day for the MWC against the BCS Pac-10. Who wants a 11-0 BYU vs 11-0 Utah in November? I know I do. GO UTES!!!!!!!

byu man

hey to the comment of utah beat ucla by the same score, lets not forget they lost to UNLV the next. Utah is a good team, but no where near BYU. BYU has gotten better QB,RB,WR, and top 5 TE in country, waiting for a yewt to prove me wrong.
