McCain does not have the temperment or judgement to be president. To whoever responded to my earlier post by trying to equate Clinton's temper to McCain you really don't know what yo are talking about. How many democrats commented on Clinton's temper compared to any number of republicans who have been on McCain's bad side. McCain has also run a very dishonorable campaign full of outright lies that even Karl Rove has said has gone too far. And McCain's judgement in picking a woman who is in no way qualified to be president is disturbing. Sooner or later LDS people will come to their senses about being used by the GOP but never respected by them. Look at Harry Reid's talk at BYU for some guidance.

Why are so many irritated by Palin being picked? If she is what you all say, then you should be celebrating the pick, even gloating how Bidon will eat her lunch. Is it that you don't believe in your own candidates to get the job done?

Unfortunately, it sounds most of you get your source from MSNBC, whom of course are pro-democrats, whom slander and misrepresent.

Good luck with your smear tactics, it very seldom works, just ask John Kerry.
Re Yes Palin | 11:32 p.m. Sept. 14, 2008
While we are looking into earmarks lets compare McCain's "long" list vs Obama's and Bidens. Lets start with the $1 million for a hospital where the "never proud of this country" works.

Speaking of parading families on stage, I remember seeing Obama parade his family on stage, a news interview and the cover of a magazine.

Mayor of a small town is still better than community organizer. I still havn't seen any racist comments or actions come out of the McCain camp but I have already seen ageism, racism, classism and sexism come out of Obama's. I guess Dems really aren't the party of tolerance.

Palin is not | 11:41 p.m. Sept. 14, 2008
being attacked. Obama went through 18 months of it. Palin will have 3. It's normal and right for people to know who/what they're voting for. Hower, the Repbs will continue to cry foul in order to get people to focus on nonissues because they have no stance on the real issues faced by this country. Jump on the Palin badwagon and you're supporting a candidat, McCain who was not popular with the conservative base before he picked Palin. Better her than Romney, a nonChristian according to evangelicals. The fascination of Utah voters with Republicans is downright uneducated and borders on a personality contest. Think, people, think, and study. This is not the party that can help this country.
Go with Brains | 9:45 a.m. Sept. 15, 2008
I for one am going to vote for the candidate with the most intelligence. Bill Clinton, Rhodes Scholar, ecomomy was great. Ran the country like a well oiled machine. GWB a solid C student, started the Iraq War for no apparent reason, and has run the county into the ground. The financial markets are in ruin, the national debt is skyrocketing and we still haven't found Bin Laden. Obama, Sigma Cum Laude from Harvard. McCain, second in his class at the Naval Academy. Second from the bottom!!!! Folks this is truly a no-brainer. Vote Obama

The problem, and it's a HUGE problem, is that inept, ridiculous candidates like George W. Bush into office keep getting elected ... if people were fooled by Bush, I see no reason why many of those same people won't make the same mistake with Palin and McCain ... I just hope that enough people wake up in time to keep these two disasters-in-waiting from being elected..
selective amnesia | 12:11 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
I will not vote for a hockey mom who would consider for even a slight moment of burning books.

Its funny how Utahns are in support of someone who belongs to a denomination that derailed St Mitt the beehive beloved's bid for the oval office.
It's not that | 12:35 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
Utah people are for McCain-Palin, it just that most are very against Obama-Biden. Utah, and most of the western states love their guns and hunting. Some just like the fact that they can even own a gun and go shoot targets or just for protection. It is a proven fact that Obama has close ties to George Soros and moveon.org These folks want to eliminate gun ownership from all people worldwide for some reason only known to them. If americans don't own guns, then the american way of life is down the toilet even further than it is right now. VOTE against Obama.
california doc | 1:26 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
"Selective amnesia" proves why liberalism is a mental disorder. "Burning books"? indeed! You are dangerously uninformed.
RE its not that | 1:39 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
Every election when the republicans run out of ideas, which doesn't take long, they try the same old tired arguments. Democrats want to take your guns, abort your babies and surrender to islamofacists. Wake up!!!! We need a president that is bright, well spoken, intellictually curious, and a problem solver. That, my friends, is Obama. Utahns are never going to vote for a Democrat or a Black man so the point is moot in Utah. But hopefully the rest of the nation has enough sense to pick the best equipped individual and that, clearly, is Barack Obama
selective amnesia | 2:14 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
So, I can't type. Burning? Banning? The difference on a theoretical level is...?

FWIW; I am not a liberal. I am a libertarian. There is a difference. It seems the good doctor only made 1 mistake never assume. I can assure you its something Greg House would never do.
Fear Tactics | 4:17 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
Nobody is using fear tactics against Obama, it's just that people know he is not good for the USA. 4 years of Obama could permantly damage the USA to a point of no return. That's not hype, it's a fact. Vote NObama in NOvember !!
4:17 | 7:12 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
POINT OF NO RETURN? ... What has junior bush done? ... And please tell me how McCain would pull away from bush policies and practices ... And please tell me further how Palin, the vicious pseudo-reformer, could take on the presidency after McCain's almost inevitable exit ... She is a disaster, a decoy ... What is wrong with you people? ... You are willing to jeopardize the greatest country on earth merely to keep these criminals in power? ... There are no perfect candidates, and that includes Obama ... But he is head and shoulders and then some above Palin and her sponsor.
Bad Press? | 11:48 p.m. Sept. 15, 2008
I am wondering if Demo even have a brain. Is there such thing as bad press? These blogs and the media are so intent on destroying Palin, that she has seldom missed a daily headline since being named Vice Pres elect. As a matter of fact I read today, I think it was the New York Times using over 6000 words to bash etc Palin on various commentaries and articles.

Do you realize the longer she stays in the headlines, the longer the wave of RNC bump will go - all the way to the election.

Now tell me John McCain is not smart. He was dead in the water. A walk through election for demos, (if they would of chosen Hilary). New York is supposed to be a plus 25 for demos, it sits at 5 points for Obama. Minnesota is even. Penn, Ohio, Mich, Florida, all are very close.

It seems demos keep shooting themselves in the foot.

Sal & Veronica | 12:14 a.m. Sept. 16, 2008
McCain and Palin will win this election and be our next President and Vice President in 2009. We have total faith and trust in these two well qualified people. McCain was Governor of Arizona also just like Palin is the Governor of Alaska. This is what qualifies these two candidates to be our leaders in 2009. Congress is all Democrats and that is why President Bush had such a hard time while being in office was because of the Democrats not working with him. We also love President Bush and as far as we are concerned he has been doing a fine job regardless of the Democrats in Congress being on vacation for the past 8 years.
Dear Sal, Dear Veronica | 9:39 a.m. Sept. 16, 2008
You are talking gibberish ... If you love Bush, then you helped put this country into the mess it is in today ... Palin is not a good governor, so does being a bad governor make her qualified for national office? ... Oh, and by the way, McCain is a SENATOR from Arizona, and not an especially good one ... The Republicans have controlled Congress for most of the past eight years ... Please get your heads out of the sand ... and get your facts straight.
Facts are funny | 11:45 a.m. Sept. 16, 2008
J-Mac was NEVER Gov of Arizona. I'd rather have someone who has tangible real world experience as qualification for the oval office which includes Obama & St. Mitt.
Obama's slimy activities in Iraq | 7:48 p.m. Sept. 16, 2008
In July, Mr. Obama went to Iraq. Today's New York Post reported that, while there, he:

* Pressed Iraqi leaders to delay active negotiations with the U.S. on Iraqi security, political reform, etc.

* Told Gen. Petraeus that the U.S. presence was illegal and demanded a date for withdrawal.

* Told U.S. troops their mission was useless and that he would end it.

This is offensive on so many levels.

First, the U.S. President is the exclusive voice for negotiating with foreign nations. Second, it is none of his business to attempt to give orders to the U.S. commander in Iraq. And, certainly, he has no right to downgrade U.S. troops personally.

In the past, such activity would be considered treason (and it probably is in a legal sense). But, it shows a sleazy disregard for the U.S. Constitution, our political system and the hard sacrifices of U.S. troops.

This man is not prepared to be Commander in Chief. He is an embarrassment.
Fact Check: | 8:15 p.m. Sept. 16, 2008
Dems have been in control in Congress since January 2007. As a group, they are hardly to blame for this mess. Sal and Veronica, you're the reason I hate politics in Utah. Do some research. At least know what you're talking about.

President Bush has had a hard time in office because he refused to work with/or cooperate with anyone, at anytime. He's been more dictator than president for 4 years now.
7:48 | 11:03 p.m. Sept. 16, 2008
So who told you these solemn lies? ... Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter? ... They have the sound of at least one of these three ... If you are so stupid that you believe this nonsense, go ahead, but at least give us your sources ... It wasn't anything that actually happened.
Steve | 12:26 a.m. Sept. 17, 2008
The story was in Tuesday's New York Post.
ok! | 7:21 a.m. Sept. 17, 2008
If it came from Fox News' sibling the New York Post, it has just got to be true! ... I mean, people, really!
hippo | 7:27 a.m. Sept. 17, 2008
I did a google news search and found the New York Post article was written Monday by Amir Taheri. Obama's denying much of the context of the article because it was taken out of context is in Tuesday's article by Geoff Earle.

He did say, if I am reading it right, that any agreement would need to be agreed upon by Congress. And it would be better to wait after the election turmoil. I agree, trying to do anything now would be politically motivated, just like the Grand Staircase decision.

It's so fun watching Republicans defend Mr. Infidelity McCain and don't investigate me Palin. Are we really that afraid to vote for someone with a minority background?
Mis-representation | 8:20 a.m. Sept. 17, 2008
Rather or not what Obama meant or said I don't know. But I find it comical demo would be up in arms after the whole charlie gibson mis-representation, half quotes etc.
Baaaa | 11:07 a.m. Sept. 17, 2008
Doesn't matter that McCain only got 5 percent of Utah's GOP Primary Vote. You could run Beelzebub/Manson and win in most of this state as long as there was an "R" next to their name.

re: Obama's slimy activities in Iraq | 7:48 p.m. Sept. 16, 2008

But Cheney & Rumsfeld never pulled any slimy tactics in Iraq or did they?
Hippo | 1:02 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
Outing a spy is punishable by death (Iraq), just ask Benedict Arnold. Bush however refuses to comply or help the investigation. Palin refuses to co-operate in trooper-gate. The American people have the right to know before we vote.

What's changed?

If you put the demo label on me, your are very mistaken. This year this Republican will stick to his beliefs and vote against the immoral McCain and his infedelity.

I saw the Gibson interviews. How do you take Palins comments out of context when it's a video?
former dem | 2:08 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
The more all of you crazies bash on Palin, the more I like her!!! She must scare all of those who thought there was no doubt Obama would win. Now all some want to do is bash her and it just makes Obama and his supporters look bad.
Anonymous | 2:37 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
Palins response, which appears in the transcript but was edited out of the televised version, was:

You know, I dont know if that was my exact quote.

Its exact words, Gibson said.

But Gibsons quote left out what Palin said before that:

Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. Thats what we have to make sure that were praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is Gods plan.

The edited televised version included a partial clip of that quote, but not the whole thing.

Gibsons characterization of Palins words prompted a sharp rebuke from the McCain campaign on Thursday.

Governor Palins full statement was VERY different from the way Gibson characterized it, read a statement circulated by McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds.

Gibson cut the quote where she was clearly asking for the church TO PRAY THAT IT IS a task from God, not asserting that it is a task from God.
Yahoo! | 4:41 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
Yes, just what we need. Someone stupid enough to use Yahoo! email for government communications. Even I know Yahoo! is not secure. Do you really want a Pres and VP that are both internet illerate? I don't.
Just maybe | 4:56 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
Conservative Republicans can see the mess the economy is in now and remember John McCain during the primaries talking about economics...not a direct quote.
I really don't know anything about economics but I have a book by Alan Greenspan, I haven't read it...
Oh no, this is not the guy I want in the White House.
hippo | 5:13 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
I give her the fact that she was taken out of context, just like the article about Obama in Iraq.

mis-rep cont. | 5:32 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
And we should add in an ABC interview with a ceo of a major coop. in talking about Palin not having experience to lead a coop., she noted none of the candidates are qualified,"john mccains not qualified, Obamas not qualified, bidens not qualified. Clarifying that leading the country is nothing like leading a major coop.

But unfortunately ABC decided to edit out the comments that Obama and Biden were not qualified. And thus presenting the quotes showing that McCain and Palin do not have experience in major coop and thus not able to lead the country.
NICE SPIN
Of course they do... | 5:43 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
for whatever reason Utah Mormons love people who hate Mormons. It's one of those inexplicable things. I guess as long as she's anti-abortion and pro-gun, it doesn't matter that she doesn't know any other politics. It's a good thing our economy is fundamentally strong and she won't have to worry about any real leadership.
Oh, Utah... | 9:07 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
I can see Russia from my house!
two interviews | 9:50 p.m. Sept. 17, 2008
Fiorina's first quote was only about Palin ... asked about it later, she added the other three ... We've probably seen the last of Carly for awhile.
stranger to this place | 10:53 a.m. Sept. 18, 2008
Ahh. Sarah Palin a breath of fresh air. It is amazing to me that anyone could possibly question her ability to lead this great nation. After all she is the pick of the Republican Party and they are divinely inspired by god. This shows that absolutely anyone can become the president as long as they are willing to fight for the right wing republican plat form and that the right wing platform will back their candidate 100% no matter what. Anything to win! No lie is too big and no stretch of the truth is too preposterous. Yay for Palin.
hippo | 3:16 p.m. Sept. 18, 2008
A vote for McCains infidelity is a reprieve for Bill Clinton. A vote for Paulin is a vote for family values. If a guy dumps your sister, you can demand his boss fire him, or you can fire his boss! Don't let let the schools teach your children sex ed. It's a parential right to mess up our own children's lives. And Mayors should have the right to force librarians to remove books with bad words. This election ROCKS!
Of course | 5:08 p.m. Sept. 18, 2008
Of course Utahn's love Palin, that's why I left, the people, not so smart. I think it is a shame that people would rather have someone they want to share a beer with than someone with intelligence. Very strange, it is going to take alot more to fix the problem Bush created, than McCain and Palin. Pathetic.
Carl | 3:09 p.m. Oct. 9, 2008
It's embarrasing that we Utah folk have just become Republican followers. The brand Republican does not just make the politicians automatically not need to be questioned. I wish it did, it would sure make it alot easier. I was born and raised Republican but am now an independant. I will not blindly follow.
Uwe Faber | 11:58 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Being LDS, but European, I hope that my LDS eligible to vote will think bigger than "strong US, low fuel prices, strong military, low consideration of global interests". Many of you are educated, have children and should be able to think a bit more complex than what fills your gas tank or makes the US strong. We used to love and admire the US, today America has become the biggest threat to itself. Pick up a simple book on sociology to understand what strong military has/can acjieve towards terrorism. It is the very fuel thereof. Grow beyond a cowboy/self defense state and earn back the respect, even love of the rest of the world. Today travelling the world with your passport is a burden. I hope you will find your way back into the community of God's children on earth. The Republicans seem to have long betrayed and blind folded (across)US values by lurring you into egoism and simplistic answers.
Good Luck
