Utahns pleased with pick of Palin

Barack Hussein Obama is a lawyer, social worker (community organizer) and a junior legislator of less than 2 years, who votes present 40% of the time and votes 100% along party lines. No change, with zero accomplishments.
Governor Sarah Plain includes business and executive experience, Commander of a National Guard, Mayor and CEO, City Councilor and a community PTA member over a 14 year period and unlike Obama she has not snorted cocaine.
No wonder the media, has not completed the vetting of Barack Hussein Obama or asked him tough questions, like what qualifies him more to run for President than Governor Sarah Palin? What makes him ready for the job, more than Sarah Palin? Keep smiling
Why does anyone even waste their time asking people in Utah about how they will vote in a national election?
They are like the "Stepford Wives" or the "humans" in "The Body Snatchers", they vote for the white, male republican.
The sooner the "press" gets that, the sooner we can all sit back and watch Utahns vote against their economic and national security needs and see our economy, schools and security fail.
That's an interesting choice of words. Most of the assumptions in the paragraph above are wrong, no matter which party you believe is right.
Palin isn't a bad choice, just not the type I thought McCain would pick. Many of her campaign people worked for HW Bush throughout the last eight years, which is something John McCain doesn't want most Americans to know. Those who work closely to the candidates in campaigns usually end up working for that person after the election. And, as we all know, it's not the President that runs the country, it's those who surround him. Can we stand for another four years of Bush cronies running the greatest country in the world?
are you kidding me?
liberals are sexist? ya thats right! the Repub-Mormons have always said its the mother who should stay home and take care of the family! It's the conservatives who have always said the breakdown of the family has been when women went out to the workforce and left the kids behind. Now its OK for Sister Palin to leave her kids to be VP of the US? WHY?
How was the poll worded? Dan Jones has a reputation for cooking polls by using qualifiers in his wording.
I don't trust any polls done by them for either party.
If the majority of voters side with conservative values and principles in this state, how do you explain McCain dumping his disabled wife after several years of infidelity, and marrying a wealthy woman to further his ambition. If McCain wins Utah's votes, the Clinton jokes in this state take on a hypocritical context.
I remember a certain leader of the LDS church and his friend the president of BYU making a statement that it was impossible to be a Democrat and be LDS in the early 70's. Both were strong members of the John Birch society.
Watch the O'Reilly interview of Obama to see how a statesman handles a tough interview. Obama knows the issues. He's smart!!! Palin's a lightweight. McCain's judgment should be questioned after this selection. Of course, it's an effort to win the white house. He's not looking for a partner to run the country. He's looking for a gimmick to divert Americans' attention from the hole the Republicans have put us. If McCain wins, Palin will not be a Cheney. She'll be sent out for photo-ops. She doesn't have much more to contribute.
Although Rommney would have been the best choice, I completely understand why McCain couldn't choose him as a VP running mate. There is no way that Rommney would have helped his campaign due to Evangelical bigotry.
With that said, the choice of Palin is 100% political pandering. There were many far better choices (females included) that were available.
At this point, I have to believe that McCain's upswing in the polls and the title of this article (Utahns happy with Palin pick) can only mean one thing: People really are stupid. There is no other explanation. Its discouraging to see such air headed decision making by both McCain and voters.
At this point I have no vote. McCain is no longer an option. I cannot vote for a candidate who chooses a running mate that knows less about how to run our country than a typical service station attendant. Obama isn't a choice either. Ron Paul is useless. No options.
Here's the reality:
* John McCain's hands were crippled while he was held by the Vietnamese. HE CAN'T TYPE BECAUSE HE WAS TORTURED. He personally cannot manipulate a mouse or keyboard.
* Does he use a computer? Yes. He and his wife nightly review emails and she types his responses for him.
* McCain has been heavily involved in technology issues for years. He chaired the committee that oversaw the development of the internet, patent issues, etc.
Those daring to attack John McCain for not --- personally with his crippled fingers -- typing emails need to be ashamed. That is the sleaziest thing.
This attack by the Obama campaign is disgusting.
Why do you think she is qualified? If Obama choose a politician like Palin, I would think twice about voting. This isn't about politics. Let's look at her subjectively.
a) Graduated from the University of Idaho in Journalsim. Minored in Policial Science. Doesn't that say something? After all, she was a sportscaster, which I think is great. Use your college degree for its intention. Journalism fits perfectly into sportscasting. I believe Palin should've stayed being a sportscaster.
b) How can you support someone who believe if you can SEE Russia, then you must know the politics of Russia? Are you serious? Even Condolezza Rice would think that is ABSURD.
Please someone explain why. Please address these two points. Palin isn't VP material.
Consider:
* Government experience: Gov. Palin runs a state budget of over $11 billion and oversees 30,000 employees. Sen. Obama has never run anything except his campaign which has raised about $400 million and has 2,500 employees.
* Policy experience: Gov. Palin built her career on reducing government spending and taxes, both as a mayor and governor. She led to the prosecution and or removal of the GOP state chair and attorney general for ethical shortcomings. Considered a leader on fostering U.S. energy independence. Sen. Obama has shown up only 40% of the time to vote in the U.S. Senate and was named the #1 most liberal senator by non-partisan National Journal. In the Illinois Senate was notorious for avoiding a vote by casting a vote "present". Most cited achievements are someone else's bill that he co-sponsored.
* Cited qualifications: Gov. Palin beat a corrupt governor, cut taxes & spending and pushes more energy development. Sen. Obama has run for President securing the Democratic nomination.
The key point, of course, is Gov. Palin is only running for V.P. . .
In interviews, Obama speaks like a true lawyer. No straightforward answers given, he just beats around the bush and hedges. He is as left-leaning as you can get. Because he gave a great speech a couple of years ago, everyone fell in love with him. Then Oprah came on the scene and he was the be-all and end-all.. Hillary has more experience than him. Why didn't he choose her? Joe Biden is just a tired old good boy.
Most people forget the when Utah was made a state the LDS church was forced to garrentee that Mormons wont be a voting block. They weren't till the 80's when the church switch to a vote your conscience pollicy, tons of Californian Republicans moved to Utah and Reagan burst on the national seen and change the Republican party to something half decent. The final nail in the coffin the Utah Dem's choose to support abortion, instead of contraception and personal responsibility.
Utah, the "reddest state," had a budget surplus and spent it.
Palin gave Alaska's surplus back to the people.
Palin is a Reagan Republican whose actions match her words.
Obama's words are "change," but his actions are to vote the Democratic party line 100% of the time.
Do you REALLY want a President that votes with Nancy PELOSI and Ted KENNEDY 100% of the time?
Who wants 4 more years of the failed policies of the Democratic controlled congress?
Obama is merely a LAWYER trained at Harvard to persuade people with words.
Palin is as "qualified" to be VP (or President) as Bill Gates was to be Chairman of Microsoft.
Gates never ran a multibillion dollar company before he ran one. What made him "qualified" is he got the job, then did it like no one else in history.
In 2007, Alaska had the 32nd biggest state budget in the nation ($5.5 billion). 2009 revenue is projected at $11 billion, and expenditures will be $9 billion.
Governor Palin got the job, and did it like no one else in Alaska's history.
Brazil has recently struck oil and that should help to lower prices. Gov Palin taxed the oil companies and brought a $5 billion surplus to the Alaska state coffers. Do you think that the oil companies did not pass that added expense on to its customers?
Bill Gates is chairman of Microsoft because he started the company and helped it to grow to the corporate giant that it is today. I think that proves his qualifications. If Gov. Palin had 30 years of similar experience she would have my vote. She doesn't, so she don't.
And now she is a vice presidential candidate. However, John McCain is still the presidential candidate. If a pig is yoked to a race horse, the pig is still a pig whether or not it has lipstick on it.
I have yet to find anyone in my circle of friends, associates and acquaintances who supports McCain enthusiastically on his own merits. I suppose that it is possible I have few contacts, but it is hard for me to forget that no one at my neighborhood caucus in March even mentioned McCain by name. Talk about the elephant in the classroom, lipstick or not.
If the majority of Utahns vote for McCain, they will do so without thinking about it much. If they compare their lives in 2000 against their lives in 2008 after 8 years of Republican mismanagement, Utahns will look for someone else for whom to cast a vote.
If you don't like Utah because there are so many right wing republicans, move. No one has to vote for Obama just because the liberal whiners tell them to do so.
This whole election is clearly marking new territory in that neither of the republican choices are lawyers, pundits, or pandering to the status quo in Washington. As a former resident D.C. it is refreshing to have a couple of mavericks taking on the old boys.
Liberals need to stop moaning because it makes them look silly. I would always rather vote for a military man or a woman than a professional do nothing like Obama. I am another woman for McCain and Palin. I can't wait to vote this year! Oh, and it isn't all about oil people. Learn the facts, not gossip.
Registered Republican voting Democrat this go round
What is more important if one chooses not to vote on the basis of the issues first, is what does this choice say about McCain.
In these seriously troubled times we have a geriatric politician making a choice for the second highest office in the country on a "gut check" level. Clearly, there was no back ground check or significant vetting to see if this woman was an appropriate match, if she had the intellectual muscle and the necessary fund of knowledge on enough of the important issues.
This country has had enough "if I knew then, what I know now" nonsense, imagine what he is going to say in a few weeks when her "accomplishments" have been fully investigated.
If this is how he/they will run the country, count me out.

There were several experienced females available to McCain, but he picked the inexperienced beauty queen who can talk a good line, while parrotting only the talking points.
Utah would vote Republican if McCain had picked Charles Manson. It doesn't matter.
If the public wants to vote for a man who was at the bottom of his class, and a woman who took 6 years to finish her college education at 5 colleges - well, I guess that says a lot.
"She's like us." I don't WANT a VP (or President) "like me". I want someone smarter, and a deep thinker.
I supervised more people at Hill AFB than Palin did as Wasilla's mayor. That doesn't make me more qualified! Wait. Maybe it does. I didn't have a "city manager" to actually manage my area, like Palin did.
