Utah Utes football: Injuries depleting the Utes' defensive line
53 comments | Read story
I'd be afraid too if I was a TDS fan.
I just doen't understand why a couple of guys from the O-line which is very deep and has avoided major injury so far can't be moved back to DL. Another injury or two and the team could be in big trouble for the rest of the season.
Thanks for keeping it classy, zoobs. We can always count on you for that.
Next you'll be telling us that Lei got injured because he's not living right on and off the field.....or maybe because he didn't come from a two-parent household.
Here's some stats...2007 state power lifting champion can squat 560, bench press 390, clean 315 and dead lift 600 pounds ... No. 25 ranked prep defensive tackle in the nation according to scout.com
Hopefully this kid can produce on the field.
Go Utes!!
A large number of your church leaders are Ute fans, buddy.
If so, it is a fact not an excuse, to point out The Utes lost there best offensive linmen (preseason), Starting QB (1st game), Starting RB (1st game), Best Wr (2nd game)and just to top it off the UTE's lost all 3 starting linebackers for some or most of the season. Those are Facts.
I wonder what the Y's season would have looked like without Hall, Collie, Bright, Unga, Kiehl and Nixon because thats essentialy what the UTE's overcame. I am not making excuses I was extremely pleased and proud of the team to win 9 games it was a real accomplishment.
Regarding some of the rediculous posts by TDS fans, having lived in 8 different states my experience is that BYU fan arrogance is pretty much despised across the country. It's not just Ute fans you annoy with your attitude, It's college football fans in general. It might not hurt your school's cause to tone it down a notch or two.
Go Utes!!!
The fact is, we lost way too many playmakers on offense to fully recover, although Utah did pretty dang good at attempting to salvage the season (minus the UNLV game)...
The D-line injuries are starting to add up, and it could effect the game in a way, but you aren't hearing excuses from a 2-0 team that has dominated when they play at full potential and only beats itself at times...
As for the TDS, who looked ugly against a high school team and barely squeaked out a victory over a terrible pac-10 team, I would be more worried about losing the linebackers than worrying about how Utah is dominating with the same injuries...
I expect the taunting about injuries from some of the juvenile Utah fans, but I expect more from Cougar fans.
Grow up and act like True Blue Cougar fans, and not like a bunch of young punks.
A question regarding the offensive side of the ball. Do my fellow Ute fans agree with me that the Utes aren't running the ball enough?
I'm not a coach and I don't pretend to be, but Mack and Asiata seem to be two weapons that should be utilized more often. Sometimes I wish Ludwig would scrap the spread and run a traditional offense. Especially with BJ being a more cautious runner, despite what we saw against UNLV.
By the way, the commentators on the Michigan game believe that Utah will win the conference. Now don't start ranting, BYU fans, I'm just stating what the commentators said.
As a study in contrast, please refer to the many published quotes by Bronco Mendenhall of BYU. You will see that he is always respectful and does not stoop to using childish terms to refer to BYU's main in-state rival as did Mr. Meyer and as Utah's current coach occasionally does.
Go Utes!
Condemning juvenile behavior by calling a group of fans 7th graders?
Am I missing gomething here...?
Be afraid TDS...you're going down. My only regret is we won't get to be the 1st to do it since you'll already have dropped at LEAST 2 games by the time we lower the boom. We'll get sloppy thirds.
you take slopy 3rds? yuck! you said it, not me
