History Repeats | 6:41 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
It's great the injury card is being stacked in Utah's deck once again this year. For heaven's sake, suck it up and play ball, quit whinning for an excuse for your future losses.
Dapper2k | 7:37 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Sounds like you TDS fans are just afraid and looking for excuses yourself. I haven't heard any U fans use it as an excuse. You're just worried our second string can beat you like they almost did last year.

I'd be afraid too if I was a TDS fan.
Re: History Repeats | 7:41 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Good observation BYU fan, truth vs speculation...it's all the same to you folks!

Re: History Repeats | 7:51 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Get a life! No one is making any excuse. They are reporting on the injuries and explaining their options. It is something the FANS want to know. The coaches wouldnt even talk about it except for the fact that the questions are asked and people are concerned and want to know how the team is handling the injuries. Please point out where there was an "excuse" made in this article.
I love the Utes but... | 8:20 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I'd be lying if I said I completely understood all the defensive lineman the coaching staff have converted to the O-line or in Neli Aasa's case, TE, over the past couple of years. Sure some of these guys may have been better suited on the O-line instead but the result is lack of depth on the D-line (a concern coming into the season) which is looking particularly bad right now in light of the injuries. Koa Misi is a very good DE and moving him inside again doesn't seem like it would be a good move to optimize his development and skill set.

I just doen't understand why a couple of guys from the O-line which is very deep and has avoided major injury so far can't be moved back to DL. Another injury or two and the team could be in big trouble for the rest of the season.
no excuses | 8:33 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Just facts!! All the article did was report who was hurt and who may play in their place, no one whined about anything.
Devastating | 8:36 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
It's too bad about the injuries to the D line, the place where there was concern to begin the season. This is where the coaches make their money though. They have to shuffle to get a suitable replacement and shore up the D line again. We can't survive the season if we can't find an answer to stop the Frank Summer's of the football world and stop the run game. It'd be interesting to see a Kruger, Kruger combo at the D Ends though. Whitt's been doing this enough that he'll get it worked out. In the mean time, we've got an easier week that hopefully he'll have some real game experience to get it all sorted out before we have to face Air Force and a real run attack. Go Utes...
Thanks be to the zoobs | 8:53 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Here we have an article about an unfortunate young man who's sustained a season-ending injury, and one zoob in particular (History Repeats) has decided to run smack about it.

Thanks for keeping it classy, zoobs. We can always count on you for that.

Next you'll be telling us that Lei got injured because he's not living right on and off the field.....or maybe because he didn't come from a two-parent household.
okcya | 9:19 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
There D line will be fine even though they are very young. Siliga and Kruger are outstanding freshmen and will be ready to go.
Its fine | 9:30 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
the Utes are fine people and especially zoobs....no excuses...Greg Newman is playing great and Aaron Tonga is okay. Sealver Siliga is very good for a true freshman. Everywhere else the defense is absolutely stacked! Quit worrying about the Utes zoobs! Worry about your slow, slow, slow, slow defense. You should have gone undefeated last year. Last year was your shot. This years squad has no shot of going undefeated. They are in danger every week with that D. Its old school WAC football for the Cougars.
Thanks to Zoobs | 9:36 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I think it's hilarious you are talking about class. Have you been to a Utes game? Or seen the average Ute fan? Oh ya, they're the picture of class.
Anonymous | 9:46 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Compared to whineY fans, yes U fans are a class act. No question about it.
I'm excited for Sealver | 9:51 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
What a great opportunity to have a kid like Sealver ablt to get playing time as a freshman.

Here's some stats...2007 state power lifting champion can squat 560, bench press 390, clean 315 and dead lift 600 pounds ... No. 25 ranked prep defensive tackle in the nation according to scout.com

Hopefully this kid can produce on the field.
Ernest T. Bass | 10:17 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I just hate it when our players get injured. Why do our coaches let the other guys crash into them so much? Isn't that a penalty or something? As a Ute fan, I think an NCAA investigation needs to take place. It's just so unfair that OUR team suffers SO MANY injuries every single year and other teams don't. I KNOW it's a big conspiracy. In fact, I'm almost sure of it.
Question... | 10:17 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Can someone tell me what a TDS fan is? I've seen the reference several times but...

Go Utes!!
Obama Yewt | 10:19 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Utes, your season is over! .....with the decimation of the D-Line and now the reliance on Freshmen, looks like Anderson blew it again.....the best D-line backups are playing for Snow College....Snow out recruits the Yewts, year in and year out! On another note the offense sputtered the whole first half. .....Johnson checked off on just about every play. He had wide open receivers down field all day but couldnt see them or most notably didnt have the gun to get it to them..Good thing, Yewt Women Gymnastics is just around the corner? I am sure Gary Anderson and Kyle Whittingham have already acquired front row season tickets!
Still classy | 10:21 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
9:36 proving YET AGAIN how classy BYU fans are with his generalizations on "the average Ute fan".

A large number of your church leaders are Ute fans, buddy.
Ernest T. Bass | 10:29 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
ETB 10:17 is an imposter.
excuses vs. fact | 10:58 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I assume this "excuse" thing comes from last year?
If so, it is a fact not an excuse, to point out The Utes lost there best offensive linmen (preseason), Starting QB (1st game), Starting RB (1st game), Best Wr (2nd game)and just to top it off the UTE's lost all 3 starting linebackers for some or most of the season. Those are Facts.
I wonder what the Y's season would have looked like without Hall, Collie, Bright, Unga, Kiehl and Nixon because thats essentialy what the UTE's overcame. I am not making excuses I was extremely pleased and proud of the team to win 9 games it was a real accomplishment.
TDS | 11:01 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Is an acronym for the Team Down South. The team with the annoying fans.
TDS = | 11:23 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Team Down South... A phrase coined by Urban Meyer

Regarding some of the rediculous posts by TDS fans, having lived in 8 different states my experience is that BYU fan arrogance is pretty much despised across the country. It's not just Ute fans you annoy with your attitude, It's college football fans in general. It might not hurt your school's cause to tone it down a notch or two.
Injuries | 12:00 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
The TDS fans are pretty quite because they have their own issues to worry about. Losing Soto is huge for them, they have no backups and UCLA is going to roll over them, they couldn't keep up with Washington and UCLA is much stronger!! After Saturday there will only be one MWC team ranked and Utah will be moving on up as BYU drops out, could you ask for any more??
Go Utes!!!
agree with OL | 12:13 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
i agree with the person who said why doesn't coach anderson pull some of the OL lineman and have them play DL? there are some DL that are redshirting, for example Taveita Stevens, why dont they pull him off and train them for DL or maybe some of the back up OL, if they really want to play i am sure there are some OL lineman would love to play DL just to help out the team we are some deep on the OL that i dont know why we dont move the OL to DL.
Linebackers | 12:25 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
i hear the same thing coming from BYU this year, only Utah fans don't make a big deal about it because its just facts...

The fact is, we lost way too many playmakers on offense to fully recover, although Utah did pretty dang good at attempting to salvage the season (minus the UNLV game)...

The D-line injuries are starting to add up, and it could effect the game in a way, but you aren't hearing excuses from a 2-0 team that has dominated when they play at full potential and only beats itself at times...

As for the TDS, who looked ugly against a high school team and barely squeaked out a victory over a terrible pac-10 team, I would be more worried about losing the linebackers than worrying about how Utah is dominating with the same injuries...
re:re: Thanks be to the Zoobs. | 12:36 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Where in his comments does he say he is a BYU fan? He may be am Aggie fan or no fan at all. You people are so full of paranoia and hatred that you automatically think anything negative comes from a BYU fan.
What is TDS? | 12:38 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I know I should probably know this but what does TDS mean?
Utah fans call... | 12:41 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
BYU fans the team down south? How does an article on injuries turn into a fit of jealous rage by Ute fans. I wanted some insight from Ute fans and all I got was a bunch o' cry babies whinin' about how nobody loves them! Thanks for wasting my time. GO AGS!
Grow up BYU fans | 1:00 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
No one, especially BYU fans should be making fun of injured players. Football is a rough game and injuries happen, no matter how tough the player.

I expect the taunting about injuries from some of the juvenile Utah fans, but I expect more from Cougar fans.

Grow up and act like True Blue Cougar fans, and not like a bunch of young punks.
Re: Utah fans call... | 1:17 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
This poster is a zoobie. Nice try though. Stealing the Aggie colors doesn't make you an "Ag".
Re: TDS | 1:31 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Thank you. That's great...I will use it hence forth!
Re: Utah fans call... | 1:44 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Jealous rage? An Ag fan has a better grip on reality than this comment demonstrates. You people are delusional...nice try BYU fan!
Hey? | 1:49 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Whatever happened to Isley Filiaga? He was going to be solid on the D-line. Why hasn't anyone said anything about him?
Matt A. | 1:49 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Most coaches say a team's success starts along the front lines and I hope this doesn't portend future issues defensively for the Utes.

A question regarding the offensive side of the ball. Do my fellow Ute fans agree with me that the Utes aren't running the ball enough?

I'm not a coach and I don't pretend to be, but Mack and Asiata seem to be two weapons that should be utilized more often. Sometimes I wish Ludwig would scrap the spread and run a traditional offense. Especially with BJ being a more cautious runner, despite what we saw against UNLV.
Re: excuses vs. fact | 2:01 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
You are right, they had a terrific season last year. If you watched the Utah vs Michigan game, the commentators couldn't say enough about how much the Ute team overcame last year. At least that was the story line on the channel I watched, I live in the mid-West. It actually was a positive reflection on the entire conference. So, to the BYU fans who post, I would point out that the Ute's season last year was on the national radar. I therefore recommend that you temper your comments about Utah's accomplishment last year including their loss to UNLV (which has clearly been answered)...to continue doing so, may result in giving BYU a black eye as a part of Utah's schedule.

By the way, the commentators on the Michigan game believe that Utah will win the conference. Now don't start ranting, BYU fans, I'm just stating what the commentators said.
re Matt A | 3:05 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I'm hoping that we might see more running, maybe Ludwig cough has something up his sleeve cough. But I'm hopeful! Its a waste not to run more it with two quality backs.
re: What is TDS | 4:10 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
TDS is a company in West Valley City, Utah called Tire Distribution Services. They go by TDS for short. The company I work for buys tires from them for off-road equipment we sell & rent.
What is BUNs? | 4:12 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I've seen this term before and I should probably know what it means. Please help. Thanks
re: What is BUNs | 4:14 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
BUNs is used with the word "little" in front, as in "little BUNs" or "L-BUNs". Stands for "little brothers up North".
re: What is TDS? | 4:23 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
TDS stands for team down south and was started by Urban Meyer, a coach who has not yet reached the necessary level of maturity to be considered a true adult. Mr. Meyer used this term to show disrespect towards BYU. Any of his fans who are at or below his same level of maturity (approx. 7th grade) copy him and use this term, even though he left Utah for a much better program years ago. Many Utah fans think he is still coaching their team.

As a study in contrast, please refer to the many published quotes by Bronco Mendenhall of BYU. You will see that he is always respectful and does not stoop to using childish terms to refer to BYU's main in-state rival as did Mr. Meyer and as Utah's current coach occasionally does.
Re: TDS | 4:38 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
This is a very fitting description for BYU. It conveys just how how anonymous / unimportant the institution and its fans are. When you think about it, what contribution has BYU made to anything but themselves? And I love the fact that Urban Myer coined the phrase.

Go Utes!
wow | 5:19 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
ever heard the term BFAIATDBTKTTITG? It means byu fans are insane and tirelessly defensive because they know their team isnt that good. Sometimes you can place some before the term, but it never really matters. Occasionally throw in AWGDTYBTU. I'm sure you can figure that one out.
re: What is TDS | 6:03 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
TDs is also an acronym for Touch Downs. The S makes it plural.

Condemning juvenile behavior by calling a group of fans 7th graders?

Am I missing gomething here...?
GO ZOOBIE TROLLS | 7:20 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Have you ever noticed how long it takes the monitors to post your comments? Yet "What is BUNs? | 4:12 p.m.", and "re: What is BUNs | 4:14 p.m." were 2 posts both asked AND answered merely 2 minutes apart. What do ya wanna bet "re: What is TDS | 4:10 p.m." is ALSO the same zoobie troll. It HAS to be, seeing as how she wasn't very clever.

Be afraid TDS...you're going down. My only regret is we won't get to be the 1st to do it since you'll already have dropped at LEAST 2 games by the time we lower the boom. We'll get sloppy thirds.

re: interesting | 9:45 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Doesn't look like condemning to me. The poster was simply stating the facts. The truth hurts, doesn't it? Maybe that's why you perceive it as "condemning". The guilty are always offended when confronted with their inappropriate behavior.

The NIT | 12:01 a.m. Sept. 10, 2008
As one who has lived for many years in Big 12, PAC 10 and Big Ten areas [California, Missouri, Minnesota and Arizona] and watched and cheered for teams that DO win national championships - for real - I continue to be amazed at the "annoying arrogance" of BYU / TDS fans - or whatever they call themselves. I just never saw this nearly as frequently in those other areas of the country. Like many of you, I watched the end of the Washington game last Saturday and I couldn't help to cheer for the great Washington comeback and the poor call made on a stupid rule. Too bad! Even though I am one of those LDS church leaders referred to in an earlier post, I find it hard to ever cheer for BYU and the players involved because of the really annoying fans of that school. It's probably not fair to the players themselves. In fact, if it wasn't for them I could probably be indifferent. Go UCLA Bruins!!
