Jordan will be dearly missed. I am so happy that he was able to serve his country that he so dearly loved.
Thank you Jordan & Family | 7:55 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to your family for your sacrifice also. Our heart and prayers goes out to you in your loss. Words are not enough to express our feelings. Losing a child even if they are in their early 20's must be devastating. I can only imagine.

God Bless You. God Bless America.

Pvt Thibeault,

Thank you for your service and sacrifice for our country. At least you had the courage to serve our country and its citizens, rather than sit from the sidelines and criticize. May the Lord bless you and your family.

Our best wishes go to Jordan's family and friends. We honor him for his life and service. Thank you.

This is not a forum discussing the moral aspects of war or this particular war. Maybe show a little respect for the dead and keep your protests within the correct circles/context. Your thoughtless comment is hurtful and inappropriate for this thread.
Different Perspective | 9:34 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I have a hard time understanding the mothers comment, "I always imagined I would see him again".

If my son went to war, I would be very well aware of the possibility that I wouldn't see him again, or that he would come back injured for life.

RE: To War Vet: you big dummy ( i love you, Mark Levin!) - you wouldn't be writing such comments - wouldn't have the freedom to do so - if all leaders thought like you do. Leaders in Germany, Spain, France, England and now Denmark have given in the "doctrine of appeasement", that's why Muslim extremist immigrants are telling those leaders what to do in and with their country! They're paying a big price - losing their freedoms and sovereignty! Big mistake!
Re: Different Perspective | 11:18 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I imagine that your perspective would change if you truly did send your son to war. You would imagine and hope with all your heart that you would see him again.

You have the comfort of making smug assumptions because there are those who are willing to sacrifice all to ensure that you do.
re Re: Different Perspective | | 11:28 a.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I doubt my perspective would change, I would be very worried, Of course I would hope for the best, but I wouldn't take for granted as this mother apparently has done that things would turn our right. She seems surprised by the outcome, like she never really seriously considered the possibility of this happening.

In war people die and people get injured for life, lives, limbs, eyes and hearing are lost.

This is why, if we are going to go to war, we need to be very careful that the war is absolutely necessary, because the cost of war is always so high.
Set it straight... | 12:07 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
All of the "different perspective" commenters must not have read the story very well. It was Jordan's 18 year old friend and neighbor, that said that he thought that he would see Jordan again, not his mother. Whether you agree with the politics of the war, or of war in general, we, as free Americans owe our freedom to the young men and women who put their lives in harm's way on a daily basis. We owe the ultimate gratitude to those who paid the ultimate price. And we owe that gratitude to the families of those who have paid that price. My deepest heartfelt condolences to Jordan's family.

*Following the end of the Gulf War, the Pentagon, led by then Defense Secretary Dick Cheney, paid Halliburton subsidiary Brown & Root Services over $8.5 million to study the use of private military forces with American soldiers in combat zones.
*Thomas H. Cruikshank, who served as chairman and CEO from 1989 until 1995, was replaced by Dick Cheney.
*In 1998 Halliburton merged with Dresser Industries, which included Kellogg. Prescott Bush was a director of Dresser Industries, which is now part of Halliburton. Former United States president George H. W. Bush worked for Dresser Industries in several positions from 19481951, before he founded Zapata Corporation.
*Halliburton is the only company mentioned by Osama bin Laden in an April 2004 tape in which he claims that "this is a war [in Iraq] that is benefiting major companies with billions of dollars.
THIS WAR IS ABOUT POWER AND MONEY...and the history goes on...

To the family of Pvt Thibeault,
Thank you for raising a son who was willing to serve his country in spite of knowing the dangers that intails.
We are thankful for the many men and women willing to make the sacrifices it takes to keep our country safe and help those that don't have the freedoms that we so often take for granted.
May you take some comfort in knowing that othes care and keep your family in our prayers.
God Bless you
re:learn | 1:47 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
thanks for the insight, you seem to have broken new ground there. Why post stuff like that on an article about a young kid whose family won't get to see him again?
TVB | 1:49 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Pvt Thibeault; Thank you for your uncondiontional love and service. It is because of great men like you that I can even write this email. May your family find comfort and peace. And may the Lord find your place in the highest of kingdoms.
Iraq Vet | 1:53 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I have served a tour in Iraq and know what it is like to have some of your fellow soldiers hurt or even killed. I feel for their family and their loss as well as the soldiers that Pvt Thibeault served with.

It completely drives me crazy to read coments from people who point out all of the negative things associated with the war. Yes the war has cost a lot of money, and lives have been lost.

How do we forget what happened 7 years ago when we were being attacked on our own soil? No the Taliban isn't in Iraq, but the terrorists were getting funding from Sadam. We liberated a country from a dictator who raped, and killed thousands of his own people. And the surge that President Bush implemented has worked and dramatically reduced violence in Iraq. Making it possible so that we can eventually leave Iraq and they can govern themselves.

Be thankfull that you live in a country where we live in freedom because of the brave. All of this venom about the bad things doesn't get us anywhere.
Just think of the family | 3:00 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Please people - your political views are really inappropriate on this particular site. This family (and his friends) are grieving the loss of a young man.

Have the decency to just offer condolences - and save the other rhetoric for another day or a purely political article.

I would assume that no-one would want to pour on any more hurt on these people.
Utah Democrat! | 3:03 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I AM A DEMOCRAT!!!

I am a patriotic, flag-waving Democrat!

I oppose the Iraqi fiasco, and approve of the Afaganastan theater and hope for when our military is allowed to go where they are most needed and justified to get the REAL job done of fighting terrorism on it's own turf!

I've had 4 sons serve in the military since 1998 (3 Navy, 1 Marine) and are proud of them, all who they have served with, all branches of the military, and their work of simply being honorable 'soldiers!'

Even though Pvt. Thibeault died of non-combatant causes, he died in the service of his and my country, and so he died with honor no matter how you cut it and deserves all the respect that can be mustered for him and his family.

All that said, I'm still a Democrat that's big on patriotism, national defense, fiscal responsibility, and unlike the Bush/Republicans of Congress, all am big on making sure that returning Vets are taken care of (which incidentally took the Democratic sweep of 2006 to have congress pass the laws that gave our Vets back their dignity and needed assistance they deserve).

Patriotism is also about caring&looking afterOurOwn.

Sometimes is good to know what are we fighting for. Know is not the so well called "freedom". We were changing "subject" through the years to justify this war.
We started in 9/11, then the Taliban, then Saddam, then Afghanistan, then Iran, then would be Russia, you dont get it?
OUR SOLDIERS ARE DYING FOR BUSINESS... that's my pain, our brave soldiers are dying because of this!!! They are here to serve this country NOT dirty politicians.
We need to bring those troops home!!! we are more secure having the troops here than overseas!!!
I love to see those soldiers HERE AT HOME.
We never going to stop writing about our losses If we never stop fighting others.
Every country have learned to have their freedom by their own, Irak needs to learn that from themselves, not from others.(following an example, truth, but not by somebody else).
Our Soldiers are brave, but is enough!!! bring them home

Please - educate us on another site. This is about a young man who died - your views on war, government, big business, republicans, democrats can be read somewhere else.

To: To War Vet @ 9:00 am.

No need to be disrespectful to any war vet. You assumed this was a grandpa - but I think you probably know that he/she could be anywhere from 18 to 100 years old, because there have been several wars or conflicts since World War I. Also, no-where did he/she comment on whether or not God was on one side or the other!

I, for one, just wish to offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of this young man.

Bob Pomeroy | 4:18 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
I wonder if we'll be told more about this 'non-combat' death. It isn't the first. Remember Allysa Peterson anyone? A partial truth is not the whole truth, and respect for this young soldier requires that the whole truth come out.
annewandering | 4:56 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
My heart breaks for the grief this family, friends and fellow soldiers are feeling at this time. Please know how grateful we are for the willingness of this soldier to serve and for the family to support him. May God bless you and give you comfort.
To Bob | 6:46 p.m. Sept. 9, 2008
Did you really want to go there? The family is going through enough pain. Whether out of morbid curiosity or political posturing, you inference is most inappropriate. You should be ashamed.
