Great pic of Jorgensen's block showing the UW OL grabbing his jersey. Got
the block despite the hold. All the whining about the Locker ball
"tossed" about 40 feet into the air (yes, I was there, yes it was that
high, yes it deserved a flag) is amazing. All UW had to do was make the PAT,
despite the penalty. Refs didn't block the kick (or did they?). Great
game BYU - but please, take better care of the ball. Six TO's in two games
(most in the "blue zone") is ridiculous. Go Cougs!

and will finish in the middle of the PAC 10 and go to a bowl game. This is a
much better Washington team than the 4-9 team they had last year.
About the call - either the refs call the celebration penalty consistently, or they should change the rule. All of this moaning about a late call changing the outcome of a game is ridiculous.
Washington should never have even been in a position to tie the game. If the biased PAC 10 refs had called the obvious holding calls on the last drive, the Washington drive would have stalled.
If any team was given a gift by the officials, it was Washington.
All of the negative comments by the BYU haters are typical. BYU could beat the #1 ranked team in the country at their place by 50 points, and the whiney anklebiters would still find something to criticize.
After all of the near misses with OOC road games, this is a great win for Bronco and the Cougars. Winning a close game in a hostile evironment is a much greater accomplishment than a blowout win.
Blowouts are easy. Close nailbiters are tough.

The unsportsmanlike call for excessive celebration was not a gift to BYU and did
not cost Washington the game.
(Get over yourselves BYU haters.)
A 35-yard extra point is VERY makeable by a decent kicker. Teams are flagged for excessive celebration all the time and kickers routinely step in and kick the extra point with no problem.
The ONLY thing that made this particular call controversial is that BYU BLOCKED the kick.
If the situation were reversed, BYU fans wouldn't be complaining about how "unfair" the call was, they'd be complaining about how stupid it was for "player-x" to spoil a great game and a chance for overtime by committing a stupid mistake and then compounding the mistake by allowing the extra point to be blocked.

So I turn the channel to ESPN game day and all I see and hear is tears and
anger. I mean these announcers were MAD!!! Hey, their team lost! I guarantee if
the situation were reversed and it was BYU getting the celebration penalty NO
WORDS would have been spoken by the national media about how BYU got robbed. Not
a word !!! Whatever, I am SO glad BYU slammed the BCS DOOR RIGHT ON THE NATIONAL
MEDIA'S FINGERS!!!!!

I don't know who said it last week but there was no way to win this game
without controversy. If we win by lots we beat a creampuff if we squeek by then
it was just luck or a bad call. BOTTOM LINE A WIN IS A WIN. I was a fun game and
broke the spell for at least maintaining our position.

Aren't Division 1A schools suppose to make kicks from that distance more
often than not? From the picture of the block kick it looks like #84's
jersy is being pulled. The only reason I sympetize with UW is that the refs
weren't consistant the entire game. It seemed like they let too much go by.
Thus the player and coaches did'nt know when and/or for what they would be
penalized

What a great article!! I mean BYU knew they were going to block the kick
before the flag was even thrown! They are that good! Whenever they need a play
they can come up with it! Even Max Hall who doesn't play on special teams
knew it would be blocked. We will bust the BCS this year, just ask Mr. Harmon.

It is clear after reading this article that the players must have received
direct revelation about blocking that kick. Way to go COUGS! Way to live

I am having a difficult time and was wondering if a decent BYU fan could help me
out. (Not one of the over zealous mesh hat, old cougar blue sweat pants wearing
fans who cannot tell college sports entertainment from real life). If you are
the BYU fan I am talking about you will respond . . .
Does anyone find it a bit strange with all of the "Faith" and "We were supposed to win" and the religous type statements that Bronco's teams use. I know it is an LDS school. I am LDS and attended BYU, but I have a hard time with the mixing of sports and religon. Isn't the team this year and the last few -- including -- no led by - the coaches - sounding a bit over the top with this kind of talk? I am sincere in my question. Doesn't it sound a bit like Notre Dame speak? Touchdown J___ and the whole bit? It scares me that BYU's tone will not help the missionary efforts of the church - which is the church's number one reason for providing BYU sports. Just curious if I am the only one who notices.

To True Blue: The "Next Victim" talk is just disturbing. Didn't
you leave this same post last week? It just fuels the BYU haters. Are you
implying that the members of BYU's team are purse snatchers or thugs? That
isn't exactly the image that we should be portraying is it?
To Borderline: I have to admit that I haved wondered the same thing about BYU sports and the Church's missionary efforts. Why don't we just let the team play ball? If BYU plays good competition there will be wins and losses. Divine right just doesn't belong on the field.
BYU managed a non-conference road win for the first time in 7 years. It is a good milestone along the way, but only a milestone. BYU hasn't arrived yet, and it is still a long journey to the "BCS Championship Game". I congratulate the school on the win. BYU was the better team Saturday, but it is not yet among the nation's true football elite
It is time to for the fans to shut up, the team to keep winning, Bronco to focus on coaching, and the administration to schedule tougher competition.

Thank you for the comment. Level headed BYU fans give me more confidence that
the "we are Heaven's team" type fan is just the vocal minority.
Most fans (true fans) don't believe that mumbo jumbo. And truth be said, we
are all children of God, including say the players from Northern Iowa or the 15
freshman playing for Michigan. I dare say that Heavenly Father loves and is
concerned about the Washington kicker as he is about Bronco.

What's with a title? Sorry...no bible bashing or Book of Mormon
thumping...the reference is to the BYU fight song, whose chorus line starts
"rise and shout, the cougars are out". So yeah...let's leave the
religion out of it!
