I'm excited to see the game will be broadcast on FSN, and not the Mountain!
Or do they use the pathetic Mountain Network crew to broadcast on FSN? If so,
FSN will be embarrassed to have such an amaturish broadcast on their airwaves!
Run away FSN, unless you can use your own talent!

#1 priority is to stop Locker - dude's a stud...but he can't throw an
accurate ball on a consistent basis. Possible solution is that Locker may not
always line up at QB. There's some talk in the NW about putting in the 2nd
stringer Fouch at QB and letting Locker run wild. That could get scary...but
does Ty have the guts?

Looking forward to seeing the game in person on Saturday. I hope the Cougars
come ready to play. Though the UW is young, as a whole they present more speed
than BYU. Can BYU run the ball? Can BYU throw the ball effectively? Can our
defense not get beat on big plays? If so BYU will be 2-0 and be headed back to
Provo with momentum against UCLA.

I see no problem with this game, I think BYU will finaly get that road monkey
off their back, I hope for their sake and the MWC sake that it takes place.
However, I think BYU needs to take care of business early so they can focus on a

BYU rolls! UW is awful. Keep talking about what a great athlete your QB is, he
cant throw at all. Why do you think there is a RB? All I can say is that he
shouldn't be playing QB. He is so one dimensional that it is easy to stop
him. Lets hope UCLA is a test because UW won't be. Cougs 38-3.

The Huskies have been backed into a corner by the string of losses under Coach W. Coaches and players feel the heat from the press and the fans. (One high profile Husky alumnus has even offered to set-up a $100,000 scholarship at the UW Law School if UW fires Willingham.)
So, the Huskies are going to EXTREMELY motivated to make a statement and try and save Coach W's job. In their minds a win against 15th ranked BYU will be just the ticket to (temporarily) take the heat off of their coaches. That's HUGE motivation!

11-26 record = Huskies have been cornered for awhile. Nothing's changed,
they're still cornered. There were calls for Willingham's job in the
past but nothing came of it. Patience will wear thin very soon in Seattle and
he'll be out. BYU will be very ready for this game and will not have a
letdown. They'll capitalize on the good from last week's game and
will not allow silly mistakes to plague them. This year is the BYU of old, a
strong starting team. The UCLA game will be dealt with next week, the Cougars
know to not overlook a game. That's had disastrous results in the past,
but then this is not a team from the past.

Why are so many people so worried about UW? I understand they are hungry for a
win, but so are the cougs...they want to get the "unable to win a
non-conference road game" monkey off their backs! They want to improve
from past years and start off better than 1-2, they want to make it to a BCS
game. BYU has a lot to play for also! Bottom line, this game will come down to
talent and experience which in both areas, BYU definitely has the advantage. UW
has one player that is a threat (even though last week he was not a threat at
all gaining only 57 on 16 carries). BYU have several players that are threats
and will be hard to stop. UW may be hungry, but that does necessarily mean they
will player better...it could be a detriment to the way they play.

If I were the defensive coordinator I would come after them, hard. I would blitz slightly more on the left side know that Hall has a history of getting wacked, and that BYU is still weak on the left tackle spot, now being manned by a red-shirt Freshman.
In blitzing a lot you are challenging the center, who calls out blocking assignments, and BYU has a new center.
I would go after them both and make BYU's O-line prove they can handle it. An aggressive pressure/blitz defense would be a real test.

Washington is terrible. BYU will win going away. I can't conceive of them
losing, but if they should it would be one of the biggest disappointments for
the team and it's fans since Bronco took over the reins. Washington is so
bad on both sides of the ball that even San Diego State could beat them.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a Ute fan. I do however, want BYU to be
undefeated come November. I think this is a dangerous game for them. If they
look past even one play Washington will light them up. Good luck and let's

The simple fact is this: BYU rolls if they don't turn the ball over and Max
Hall stays healthy. Period. Their D isn't the most amazing, but it's
good enough to hold Washington to between 10 and 30 points. BYU's offense
can't be stopped, however. I know the UNI game looked ugly, but, underneath
that mask of 5 fumbles, that offense is SCARY. No one can stop them! They beat
you in too many ways!

I love when I hear Cougar fans talk about Gary Crowton as if he were Satan
himself. I have always thought that all things the same, if Crowton would have
won games he would still be the coach today. It has nothing to do with the fact
that he 'eroded the school's values' that he was fired. He was
fired because he didn't win games. Cougar fans really don't care what
you do off the field (even though they act like they do) as long as you win.
Examples: Jim Mcmahon, Ronney Jenkins. People were willing to put up with any
Mcmahon shenanagins as long as he kept throwing the long ball and won. LE was
good at winning games, but he was equally good at sweeping off the field issues
under the rug and over looking the honor code when it was convenient. Despite
what anyone will tell you, Cougar football is not about values at all, it is no
different from any other school. At the end of the day it is about winning
games. President Monson could be the coach at the Y and if he didn't win
games he'd be fired!

West. So the Kewgs better not start celebrating with their sparkling cider
(gasp) just yet. Any road game is hard and other than Utah, this could be the
toughest road game the Ewgs play.

If you have Dish Network's Sports Pack, which includes all the flavors of
FSN out there, you will definitely get the game and you will be able to choose
from about 20 different FNS channels to watch it on.

Dish Network has the best HD DVR in the world. Controls two TVs at once and lets
you watch live TV while another program is being recorded. That reason alone has
kept me from switching to DirecTV. I don't get the mtn. but I have friends
and neighbors who do...

Better to be playing Saturdays on The Mtn, than Tuesdays and Wednesdays on
ESPN.
The picture quality and announcers may not be the best (actually, I've endured some pretty lousy ESPN announcers also), but I'd much rather go to a Saturday afternoon or evening game, than try to go to a Tue or Wed game and not get home until after midnight, then try to get something useful done the next day at work.

BYU hasn't beaten UW in 3 tries in Seattle and has not beaten a
nonconference opponent on the road in a regular-season game since a one-point
victory over Utah State 6 years ago. Look at the history of BYU playing
Washington when they have been ranked in the AP Polls. U-Dub has owned BYU (4-2)
in past seasons and with Willingham�s job on the line and
after such a lopsided defeat in Eugene this young team will be ready to pull off
the upset in Husky Stadium (33-28) in 2008.

BYU will move the ball on offense, there is no question about that. There is the
question of how the defense does against Locker. As far as size, he is actually
similarly sized to UNI's quarterback, he's somewhat taller, and
actually lighter weight. Then there is the speed factor. He may be fast, but
it's not like our defense is slow. In fact, across the board we are quite a
bit faster this year on defense than we were last year. Brandon Howard, #4, he
has got some speed! He demonstrated that by running down UNI's quarterback
last week. The difference this year is I think we are missing a little size from
last year, and of course the players are new. Last week was, I think, good
preparation for this week. There was a trick play, and there was a couple missed
blocking assignments, those resulted in the big plays, and I think we learned
from those. If you remember, too, UNI's quarterback was knocked out 3 times
last week. With hard hitters like Coleby Clawson, and Matt Ah You, BAM, it could
be lights out for UW this week.

This is the same Washington team that almost ended Hawaii's BCS bowl bid
hopes late last season. Of course this is a new season for Washington, and most
agree while Hawaii was good they were overrated, but still...BYU under
Mendenhall has not demonstrated that they can win on the road against
non-conference opponents. This is a big game for BYU to prove they have matured
and can play well away from Provo.
BYU has great potential this season but if they drop this game they won't get (or deserve) a BCS bowl bid. Their mistakes last week show me they haven't brought all of their confidence or continuity from last season.
One thing's for certain though, despite the outcome of this game there will be a grundle of BYU die-hards talking about Washington like they are top of the pac-10 for the rest of the season. :) Good luck cougs!

Crossing Fingers is right in saying BYU opponents will have a hard time stopping
them! BYU shot themselves in the foot playing UNI with turn overs. If they
hadn't, the score would have been in the 60's

LaVell did ignore some off-the-field stuff, mostly honor code violations that wouldn't have even raised on eyebrow at any other school, but LaVell never tolerated players who got in trouble with the law.
Mendenhall is well respected as much because of his zero tollerance policies as he is for his win/loss record. Key starters have been held out of ball games because of Bronco's strict adherence to team rules. Fui didn't play last week, not because he was injured, not because he was ineligible, not because he had an honor code violation, he didn't play because he didn't practice, because he had some catching up to do in his academic work which he didn't complete until Friday before the game.

Totally agree except that SDSU should be last and come after UNLV. You do

Winless has the only real read on this game. I'm a BYU fan going back to
the 60's. We've always been pathetic on the road against good
programs. Washington may have had a bad game last week, but look for them to
look unbeatable against our hapless Coogs. BYU will lose the next two games.
Then by the end of the season we will be on top of the MWC and will have
silenced Utah. In the meantime, we will go from disappointment to satisfaction
and the Utes will end in another season-ending fold.

You got all your historical facts right but I think the broad consensus on the West Coast (which I agree with) is this Washington team under Willingham is not even close to as good as Washington teams in the 80's or 90's. The Husky teams of the last few years have exhibited no heart and Willingham haas shown no ability to rally the troops when the chips are down (ask any ND fan). BYU wins by 7+.
