Women can be in places other than the home. I get so annoyed when I hear the
phrase, "A woman's place is in the home." I wonder how men would
react if they were given such limited parameters in which to operate. Mormon
women are used to taking a backseat to men, but in the wider world this is not
being tolerated. I am thrilled that the stereotypes of the past are being
overcome.

Inspite of telepromter malfunction at the beginning of her speach, this woman
was cool, collected, and carried on without detection. She is smart, can think
on her feet.
I am amused and disgusted by the liberal's desperate scramble to debunk this individual. The press has truly become our 4th arm of government. They've done all they can to destroy a good person in the last few days, nevertheless, she has surfaced resiliently.
What we need in Washington is her! She is not without past mistakes, (you are welcome to throw stones here if you have never made any) No, her family isn't perfect (more stones welcome if your's is) but she is genuinely a better person for experiencing those things and learns from them.
She is a quick study and will gain much from her association with John McCain. Together these two have the whole package!

Both sides have been taking potshots at each other. Admit it. When it's
your guy/gal doing the attacking, it's called "telling the truth"
and "focusing on the issues," but when it's your guy/gal getting
attacked, it's called "partisan politics" and "ad hominem
attacks." Yes I have read all the speeches and yes they all contain
attacks on the other side.

Actually, there are TWO Alaska gas pipelines being built, which is very weird.
BP didn't want to wait for Palin's pipeline. But Alaska is going ahead
with its plans to build another one. Has Palin succeeded here or engineered a

Okay, Palin seems very nice, "hockey mom" and all. However we're
still voting for a president this fall and I just can't support putting in
a foul-mouthed, short-tempered, man as the diplomatic face of the U.S. I'm
still deathly afraid he's got an axe to grind over his POW time and will go
looking to pick fight (e.g. start a war) with any country that doesn't get
out of the way fast enough.
We really need a diplomat in the oval office to clean up Bush's mess. Someone who's actually willing to talk without making unreasonable demands of them first.
So while Ms. Palin seems very nice, I still don't want her running mate as president.

What's not to love? This woman is single-handedly bringing Republicans
into the 21st Century. She is showing them that women CAN be mothers AND
high-power executives. She had a baby and went back to work 3 days later. She
is a true champion in the women's right movement, and she deserves our
kudos for that!

Sarah Palin looked and sounded smug and arrogant to me. I didn't enjoy her

attacking the Obamas and spent almost no time telling us what she can do for our

them up and change some old stale attitudes about women! She's also
teaching them how to stop being hypocrites when it comes to family problems like

I'm with Utah Dem, I am sick of the posturing and name calling. Both sides
are acting childish, this is the change we were promised? Looks the same to me
from both sides. No wonder I'll vote third party again (like it matters
what I do in Utah anyway).
If I had to pick Rep or Dem, I'd still go for McCain. While I want to "punish" the GOP for the last 8 torturous years, we are much more likely to NOT go bankrupt with him in office. It is the most important difference between him and the Bush admin, he needs to hammer it home...fiscal discipline.

Greetings from Alaska. Sarah is there for ALL of us citizens of this United
States of America. Ms. Sarah is ready to go up against the "good ole
boys" and get things done. Has it been mentioned that she already has
several of those individuals doing time in a federal prison on corruption
charges in Oregon? Give her a chance people. Vote Democratic if you really feel
the need. Sarah and John are taking this all the way. I loved the lipstick
comment. And when do they EVER ask a father how much time he spends with HIS
children. Loved that too. We are going to miss Sarah and her amazing family but
she will NEVER forget where she came from. Please leave Ms. Bristol alone
people. She's marrying the baby's dad, what more do you want? Our
"First Dude" does and will make an amazing stay at home dad.

Governor Palin allegedly fired the Public Safety Commissioner for refusing to
fire a state trooper who was Palin's ex-brother-in-law. The state of Alaska
has hired a public lawyer, who is currently trying to move the investigation
from a panel made up of state legislators to a panel made up of Palin
appointees.
Not only is the Troopergate investigation trying to be moved to a board composed of governor appointees, but the McCain campaign also may be trying to delay the report, due four days below the election, to prevent an October Surprise.
And you thought McCain and George W. Bush were one in the same. Palin is a George W. Bush diamond in the rough.

I think Martin Luther King Jr. was a great community organizer as were the Sons of Liberty and guys like Joseph Warren, Sam Adams and Paul Revere for that matter.
Many politicans get their start in this endeavor and many like King changed the course of history through their efforts.
I do credit Palin and her experience as mayor and governor. She seems to be capable and has high approval ratings. But also the reality is that her overall experience is marginal. Both the town where she was the mayor and Alaska the state are small, homogeneous populations. Indeed she did well in calling as mayor and certainly is off to a good start at governor, but she would be better off not to get too high and mighty about Obama's lack of experience and focus on touting McCain's instead.
Her speech was great on many levels but I think Obama's service to his country and community through his efforts should be praised rather than ridiculed.

All might have been fine if Palin had discussed much in the way of issues, but
she mostly avoided them, except for a few obligatory calls to drill for oil
everywhere and build new nuclear reactors. Palin's basic message, toward
the end: McCain was tortured. Vote for him. "It's a long way from the
fear and pain and squalor of a six-by-four cell in Hanoi to the Oval
Office," Palin said. "But if Senator McCain is elected president, that
is the journey he will have made." When she spoke about her son
Track's deployment to Iraq, it was moving. But it was hard not to notice
that she made no mention of Joe Biden's son Beau, who's also leaving
for the same destination before Election Day. The implication was that only one
ticket cared much for the troops.

I love this women! She is down to earth and is just like all of us. So what if
she has a pregnant teenager, look at all these other teens that are pregnant
(For example, Jamie Spears), there is no fuss and talk about her getting married

Girls, some Boys are told what they can and cannot do from an early age. I gave my Children family connected but Gender Neutral Names for a Reason, so they would have a chance in Society without being in an automatic box.
What does that have to do with this? Well in America a lot of us like to see people come from "off the pace, out of the pack, or from the outside and win." Mrs. Palin is a fine example of that, however she did not come out of nowhere by a long shot. She was prepared by both life and work (Gov of Alaska a State that has off year elections for Gov),when the phone call came. The fact or fiction that No One knows who she is just that fiction and has nothing to do with her. It has to do with the Rest of US not being informed. Timing and need are also issues.

With last night's cheerfully vicious speeches from Rudy Giuliani and Sarah
Palin, the Republicans did what they always do in order to win elections: they
exploited raw cultural divides while mocking, belittling and demonizing
Democratic leaders. Yet again, they delivered brutally effective and deeply
personal blows to the Democratic presidential candidate grounded in the same
manipulative and deceitful yet very potent themes they've been using for
the last three decades.

I thought that the past 8 years under the dictatorship of Bush/Cheney (Yes Bush
did say once it would be easier if he were a dictator) but it looks like it
could get worse with McCain/Palin. Watching the Rep. convention makes me

I feel I have a Horse in this Race. I feel we have a fighting chance. I feel
that Mrs. Palin is the right person at the right time. To bring the Party
together and have the right wing of the party come out and vote. I could not
force myself to pull the lever for McCain, but I will be happy to do it for

I still believe you should leave the kids out of it to include Bristol and to a little lesser extent Trig. The baby appears to be fine and they will see how he develops. I wonder how much US Mag, paid for the Baby Pictures.
