There's so much vitriol in these pages that I am literally stunned.

I don't think it's unreasonable to have a lively debate without reverting to insults and mindless partisanship, especially when (I assume) a large number of posters here are LDS.

If John McCain were hiring a key campaign staffer would he hire someone with limited experience he had only met once? Probably not.

Unfortunately McCain chose his Veep nominee for political reasons; she's evangelical and shores up that vote (unlike his first choice Sen Liebermann) and she's a woman. I've generally liked the maverick McCain but am disappointed by this nomination. Strategically, it's either a master stroke or timebomb.

From what I've read of Palin, there's a lot to be impressed with. Although I think its quite ironic she's being touted as pro-life when there are pictures of her with a moose she has shot. I guess its ok to be pro-life but anti-Bullwinkle. I'm not sure she's Veep material, but the election just got a lot more interesting!

Finally, she's a working mom, so what? Get over it. It's 2008 not 1908. The family issues are private and should remain so.

"God chooses the weak, rich in faith." If we turn to God's ways, He will guide the leaders. What we need to do is show them a better way to lead and protect our nation and our world, the Divine way.

Rebuilding the military, building alliances to fight other people's wars, enticing more people to enlist and prepare for war, and giving better benefits is not change. If we turned from our employment lifestyle that causes stress, pollution, disease, accidents, afflictions, wars and conflicts, we would not need universal health care, social services like welfare and pre-kindergarten child care. The families would be at home.

Alliances would not be need if we turned from our lifestyle of building military weapons, manufacturing, processing, and transporting food, goods, and people around the world to creating a garden paradise that supplies our needs in our communities. God's plan is ours when we release our polluting, bondage and stress producing lifestyle behind.

Independence from foreign oil will still leave us dependent on energy suppliers in America. We will still be complaining about energy and other high costs of insurance, child care, college and housing.

First of all, I think that this article by the AP is really tacky, I wish the DN would have written their own, cause this one was just a left wing smear. Second, I just watched Palin's speech and she was amazing, even the democrats were impressed. She really stuck it to Obama and energized the Republican party, I think that for once conservatives can know that there is a voice out there for them, I have to give McCain credit for choosing what the party wants, not what he wants.

I find it funny that Obama supporters (fringe democrats, bloggers and the media) would attack Palin's exp and hoping it would make Obama's exp look greater. So far it is either a draw because you can argue either way on who is more qualified. I think if they continues on this line of attack it won't help Obama much but can really back fire and hurt him because it draws attention to what little exp he actually has. I just think it is stupid to argue your top of the ticket against the bottom of the ticket on job qualifications and exp.

If Gov Palin is such a bad choice, why isn't the Demo celebrating and easy victory.

1. Because they know deep down it was a great choice.
2.Is anybody even talking about Obama anymore?
3. The once hoped glory of having the first female president is slipping away.

Good: Coachable, very well read, brilliantly scripted, I�d say she did a fantastic job of
Rallying the Republican Crowd up. Personal touch, I loved the feisty hockey Moms analogy, a lot of women can relate to that, I can relate to her. Adorable kids. No doubt she�s a great mom. Agrees with a lot of with the Obama/Biden team said about Washington.

Bad: Confrontational, offers sarcasm instead of solutions. Makes it clear, She�s not an approachable person, might not be a team player in any corporation. Works better as an individual if placed in the job pool. Perfect in running a State like Alaska, not a large nation. Shows good Administrative skills. I say let her get more seasoned, build up her chops in the Senate a few short years from now and I�d vote for her in a higher position. Not Executive material.

The democrats embrace a candidate whose past casts a dark cloud over him yet they do not seem to care. Palins past pales in comparison to Obama. It is very puzzling why the media did not scrutinize Obama as closely as they are with Palin.

Both choices for President are the worst in U.S, history there are no true leaders here.

We are indeed a vexed nation.

Wherever willful ignorance and snark play well, Sarah Palin will be well received.

Some of these people sound "jealous". Please stop criticizing Mrs. Patin. She has a family to help with her children, just as all large families do. Her children will not be neglected in any way. I took a survey of many people in my neighborhood. The majority of welfare people are in the Democratic Party and have been on welfare several generations. However, there are a few Democrates who still have pride but those still think they are living back in the days when Pres. Roosevelt was in office. Little do they realize how much the Democratic Party has gone down hill. I suggest Senator O'Bama get back on "Community Organization" and this time encourage those people to work instead of providing all Government help.
