Who Cares | 10:50 a.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Almost 2 years of political campaigning and 2 months to go. Really who has benefited by all of this crap? I'll tell you who THE MEDIA. I'm so sick of this media controlled society I can't see straight. GREED, GREED, GREED. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. 24/7 so-called experts telling us what, when and how to do everything. Advertisers dumping BILLIONS into these networks, driving up our cost of living, while over paying a bunch of ego driven jerks to trash our very way of life. ENOUGH, lets out every incumbent for political office and send these biased networks packing too. Just tune them out.
CONCERNED | 10:52 a.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I did not read this story, because I don't care if Huntsman speaks at the convention or not. I have a real concern about our community. I know that we had a surplus of money at one time for education and teachers, where is that money? Also, every where I turn there is road construction, but why aren't the real roads being repaired? For instance, the road to Granger High School, so that the kids can actually enter the school without dropping off the road and rocks flying everywhere? Please state of Utah representatives, get your priorities straight come home where you belong and fix our state. That is why we are paying you.

Prince Jon's not speaking? Good. What was he going to say anyway? "We need to put the little people on bicycles and public transportation, in condensed community housing. We need to shut down our factories and our use of fossil fuels because of global warming. I propose we turn off our lights one night a week. I'm against offshore drilling and nuclear power. I'm for a nationalized healthcare program for the little people. We need to expand funding for public education. See my adopted children? I enjoy daily positive stories about me in the Deseret News. Blah, blah, blah."

McCain got Jons money and then drops him cold, typical. Both Mitt and Jon must be experiencing the most hardest times of humility- not Even among the big thieves there are no loyalties. Remember folks the world goes around because of the little mites not the greedy selfish giants

Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ah ha ha ha .
All that brown nosing for nothing
more GOP "respect" | 12:44 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Funny how Utah is always dissed by the GOP, yet we always come back for more. Not me, I'm done. After McCain chose affirmative action Palin over Romeny was the last straw. I would understand if he chose Condaleza Rice or Joe Liberman over Mitt, but Sarah Palin as Commander in Chief? Give me a break.
Oh Please | 1:23 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Another doggie slap to Utah Republicans...
Good doggie! WHAP!

When are Utahns going to get it?

Outside the Zion Curtain politicians are zilcho!

Look at where Harry Reid got within the ranks of the Democratic party. Utah and the LDS might be much better off as the conservative wing of the Democratic party. The GOP? Forget about it, it's controlled by the Southern and MidWest Evangelicals.

Now if they would just drop both conventions we would be making progress. There is absolutly nothing desided at these conventions anymore. Just a waste of time and money so a few can tell us how great they are.
Tug at your collars, folks | 2:42 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Utah Republicans are the Rodney Dangerfields of the GOP.

Why on Earth do you guys keep giving them your money and votes?

It seems that politics is just a game for self centered, egotistical power hungry individuals who want to be seen and heard to promote their own agenda. I am not remotely impressed.
No Surprise | 3:52 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
This is the political university where Huntsman and his political kind learn how to treat the little people. When they are on the being used for political purposes side it becomes the best on the job training for how to treat the little people under you. You tell them what they want to hear until you achieve your objective and then you discard them like a used rag. They also did it to Swartzanegger. And they are in the process of doing it to Palin as we speak. They are literally riding in on her integrity because they have none of their own. And mark my words when she has served her purpose she will also be discarded.

But the fact remains that the GOP must have the conservative vote to win. The problem is that the neoconservatives have crapped on, demonized, ignored, trivialized, rebuked, marginalized, and distanced themselves from conservatives since Ronald Reagan. But it is now election time again and they need them to win.

It is time for this people to break free from the battered citizen syndrome and vote for none of the above or write in Ron Paul. Otherwise get ready for your next beating.
Get over it. | 3:53 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Let me guess... the whole hurricane was planted by Evangelicals so that the GOP Convention would keep Utah Republicans off the podium.

Ya know, some of these articles and posts make me laugh.

The convention was adjusted because of the storm down south. Sometimes you have to make deletions.

Maybe, some of you are still grumbling over Hurricane Sarah.
funny | 4:12 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I find it so funny that I am concerned about our roads being fixed and every one in this blog just decided to make it about mitt, sarah, mccain etc. once again, Come on lets start putting our heads together for some substance. Education, roads being fixed in front of schools, salaries, Help I'm sinking here!
I repeat | 4:50 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
All I want is to have the roads fixed in front of Granger High school. Where is our surplus of money? For teacher salaries, our kids etc.? And this blog becomes a fest for mitt, sarah and mccain and the convention. Huntsman come back to Utah, and pay attention to us little people that put you in office. I have a hard time with the limos and the house and the expensive cars that by the way, I heard that you, and the attorney general etc, ate at a restaurant and valeted your cars and didn't tip the valet. Shame on you!
Utah too extreme | 5:14 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Huntsman speech axed.
Is anybody surprised?
Utah has the reputation of being the reddest of the red states (Rush Limbaugh's #1 radio audience).
A bit too extreme for any political party.

Straighten up Utah and head towards the center - otherwise you'll remain a laughing stock.
Jon Huntsman Sr. Fan | 5:33 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Gov, its about time you wake up and realize that you are only governor because of your father......grow some and quit pandering to McCain, behind your back he laughs all the way to the bank!...you look moronically foolish.
Dodged a bullet | 6:31 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Jon Boy should breathe a sigh of relief - McCain might have asked him to give Sarah Palin's introduction! Whoever gets THAT short straw will never live it down.
ST. GEORGE | 6:32 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Teach the GOP a lesson Utah goes Blue in 2008
Huntsman betrayed | 6:46 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Whoever said that McCain had character forgot about the aspiring Arizona politician who almost got expelled from the Naval Academy as a wild midshipman until he whined and pulled rank, and later cheated on his first wife and lied about it. McCain is as good a backstabber as any politician in the land. Too bad Jon Boy didn't realize it in time to support Mitt for President. It might not have changed the outcome of the election, but it certainly would have played better in his home state GOP and it certainly would have been one more voice in the ongoing battle to battle religious bigotry in the national GOP.
Utah the South | 6:54 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I love Utah, lived there while going to BYU, would love to move back, etc. But I can say from the outside people think of Utah as no different from the pockets in the south that are Bible thumping armed to the hilt bigoted racists outside the mainstream of society. I of course know it isn't the case but Utah could do some good by not being such an extreme red state and considering some of the benefits of the center. I actually think most Utahns are moderate, compassionate, etc. but get caught up in abortion and gay marriage, both issues that even only the extreme left strongly support or espouse. History has shown that extremists whether on the left or right are generally wrong and the populace middle is generally right.
Wise up | 7:05 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Mitt and Jon wise up. Don't you know that the republican ticket is anti-Mormon. Go home and take care of your own responsibilities.
Beneficiaries | 9:17 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
The convention delegates, Denver, and the American people are the only beneficiaries of this schedule change.
wc | 10:02 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
wow repubs snubbed again....when will you learn?
MEMO TO UTAH | 10:16 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Give the REPUGNANT Party your money. $6.000,000 would be nice. NOW GO AWAY. NOBODY NEEDS YOU. NOBODY WANTS YOU AROUND.

Hey wait! They don't mean what they are saying. They really want us. REALLY. We know they are just kidding around. Aren't they?
Atlman | 10:23 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
to:Utah the South@6:54
I live in the South. You got it right on target. There is only one MORE dyanmic at work in the South. The bigots here have added Mormons to the list of prejudice. Sadly, when I read a lot of these posts from "the outside", I see a lot of good old Southern racism and bigotry right there in Utah. Wake up Mormons! The Republicans are NOT your friends! And just to add a bit more, Palin, whom you have embraced, was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Talk about your anti-Mormons!Just read the testimonies of FCA attempting to convert Mormons to Jesus. Wake up !
Well | 10:52 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
At least Thurl got to say the prayer.
Too bad... | 11:21 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I was hoping I wouldn't have to listen to Smilin' Jon preach to us poor idiots about global warming.

Seriously, I hope his speech is a huge success with the liberal wing of party and McCain makes him under secretary of whatever and we can get a real conservative governor in Utah.
