Did the Democrats even begin w/ prayer? I wonder given the large number of Demos who are atheists. If they did, I wonder why prayer at the DNC wouldn't offend them while prayer at school does? Just askin' . . .

I was a delegate at the Democratic National Convention and yes, of course the Democrats opened and closed each day with a prayer. The vast majority of Democrats are not atheists. The difference between prayer at school and at a political convention is simple. Public school is a government sponsored entity, while a national convention is a non-government sponsored, political gathering. The real issue is seperation of church and state. The government has nothing to do with the DNC and therefore there isn't an issue about praying at the convention because it's not an organization paid for by taxpayers. Perhaps you should do a little research before taking shots at Democrats.

So the atheists at the DNC weren't "permanently and emotionally damaged" by their unprotected exposure to the DAILY opening and closing prayers? Poor dears; musta been SUCH an ordeal! Are you sure it wasn't the prayerful words of your own compatriots that sickened you, sicko, I mean "sickened."

This is not an issue of separation of church and state. It's you who is misinformed. After the constitution was penned, the assembly STILL prayed in government sponsored events, gatherings, and congressional activities. Prayer isn't CHURCH. Prayer is RELIGION. There is nothing in the constitution that separates STATE and the commensuration of RELIGIOUS activities. That's where you democrats are ignorant.

The separation of church and state that the constitution talks about, is the separation of INFLUENCE by any certain religion to exercise power over state responsibilities, as they had seen done in europe.

The fact that democrats don't want any formal prayer in school is one thing...and somewhat debatable. The fact that democrats want NO prayer in school.. even voluntary, spontaneous prayer, that involves only those who wish to participate, shows their need for control and their lack of tolerance for anyone elses interests.

So maybe you should become better informed.

You know I am amazed as to the hatred between republicans and democrats. Obviously any sane person can see clearly that the McCain-Palin ticket is the only vote to cast. Our country was founded on values and the demos have lost sight with their incredible anti-constitutional opinions.

I like Obama and his family...They're a good family and Joe Biden is one Hell of a great Father. However, there's only one that can lead and thats MAC!
