You are so in love with Mitt Romney that I'll bet that the last words some of you speak on this earth will be, "Mitt, Mitt, don't give up! There's always 2020!" ... Thump.
True Conservative?? | 11:43 a.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Depending on which way the wind blows (Mitt running for Gov of Mass) in that case I'm liberal. If I'm running for Prez, then I'm conservative. In 2008, if the winds are blowing for a facist, then he'll fit that bill as well. He has no core political values. No "true conservative" could ever get elected governor of a state like Mass.

JTM, I speak for myself on two counts...I for one, would have loved to had Romney in the White house because I relate to, trust and respect his values. I am a Mormon, but it is not the reason I would vote for him, although his adherance to our value system is a major factor. As to his celebrity status in Utah, he is admired not just because of his values (something Obama has little of,) but his accomplishments (another thing Obama has little of.)Look them up, Romney's accomplishments are not obscured on the 4th page of a Google Search. He is a very accomplished individual showing that he can run major private and gov't businesses successfully.

Thanks, Mitt! But we haven't seen the end of you, I hope. THen again, what couldn't you do for any cause you put your hand to? We'll be watching for you.
Simply Not True | 12:32 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Another poster said "Additionally, after seeing how close Romney is with the Bushes, I can't really support him in any way anymore. Please Utah, stop supporting President Bush. He's not a good man just because he goes to Church. The troops curse his name."

The troops curse his name?

Not true! Simply NOT true!

In his almost eight years in the White House, I have NEVER heard one single military member I serve with say an openly disparaging remark about our Commander in Chief. NOT ONE!

I have however, heard many, MANY troops speak fondly of Pres. Bush and his courage, particularly in standing up to terrorists anywhere, anytime. Do we in the military recognize that Pres. Bush is human and sometimes makes mistakes? Absolutley. But NOBODY I know has ever "cursed his name".

Is Mitt gonna take his toys home and not play the game becuase he didn't win?

So much for civic responsibility...

Romney 2012? | 12:48 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Bummer. I was surprised to hear Romney say he wouldn't run again.

I am really, really, REALLY hoping he'll change his mind.

Take a break Mitt, if it's needed. I've no doubt it's well deserved. I've never seen any presidential candidate in America so misunderstood and so persistently demonized as you.

But that is precisely WHY you need to run again. America, thanks to the mainstream media in no small way, is almost completely lost in a forest of sin and lies. There are good people still in our great nation, but they largely don't SEE them so they feel alone. We need a focal point to rally the nation. If you're not the man, Mitt, then we need a carbon copy of you. Problem is, I don't know if there currently exists a man of your integrity, patriotism and business skills to get the job done in 2012.

I hope you change your mind for 2012.

P.S. - Your "Faith In America" speech in Houston last December was absolutely SUPERB!!!

God bless you and God bless America!

November is going to be another debacle, pretty much no matter how we look at this. But,we really could use some help on Prop 8 in Ca. Fact of the matter is we already voted against gay-marriage by 68%, until it was ruled "unconstitutional"! So, while I feel helpless about who in the world I could vote for in November. I'm extremely worried about the entire nation, state by state by state...
Re: Re: So, are we done here? | 1:18 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
And why do you think Willard took 90% of the Utah primary vote? Because of his religion.

His popularity in Utah is due to one factor...religious bias. You'd think a simple man from Maryland could see that.
Mitt will be back | 1:31 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Mitt will run again. You can bet on it.

Today he says he won't. In a few months he'll say he will. That's Mitt. He flip-flops on most of his political decisions.

Mitt Romney is like a saloon door in the Old West.. The direction he swings depends upon who's going through the door at the time.
Boris | 1:40 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
And you "critics" wonder why it is difficult to get the very best to run for public office.

You sit back and slander, vilify & complain ad nauseaum. Attack their families over the slightest "crime", etc.

You do not support them with your time & money but continue be vocal with the politics of personal destruction.

Some have the money to help them with their run & freely put their money where their mouth is.

After all of that, if they lose, then you continue to berate, demean & generally show just how much class you do not have.

Why don't you just quit griping and run for office yourself???? What you are worried about how you family would be treated? You don't want to spend any of your money to run?? You want someone else do what you won't do.

Does hypocrite, ungrateful & just plain mean spirited look back at you in the mirror??? You are not part of the solution. You are pard of the problem!!!

Personally, I think our Founding Fathers would be ashamed of you.

I could see Romney jumping in to a Senate race in Utah if Hatch were to end his career there. When is Hatch up for reelection again?
Romney in 2012! | 1:48 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
The realities of politics require Romney to say he won't run in 4 more years. How would it look if he attempted to upstage McCain by declaring his candidacy now? McCain is doomed to lose. Palin will end up like Jack Kemp (who was linked to another loser), and Obama will be such a poor president that even Jon Huntsman, Jr. will be begging him to run again in the next election cycle. Maybe even Huckabee (who Rush Limbaugh says has been badmouthing Romney among evangelicals)may even see the virtues of Mitt. Romney will then be seen as the rescuer of America, as he was the rescuer of the Olympics.

MITT WILL RUN FOR UTAH GOVERNOR.....GOOD BYE HUNTSMAN!

Mitt Romney has recently purchased a home in California - we could sure use him as the future Governor of California to clean up the deficit and mess that CA is in!

"He would be great in an advisory positition, whether as a cabinet member or not. He is very savvy about financial matters, and our country could use someone like that right now--badly, actually. I hope that if he is asked to fulfill such a responsibility that he would be willing to do so. McCain and Palin would need good cabinet personnel and advisors. I honestly do not know who to vote for, so it is going to be a "vote by elimination" for me. I DON'T want Obama in there, so the other choice is McCain. Either way, the next 4 years will be tough. McCain would be the better choice on many levels."

I agree, totally. Romney would be an outstanding choice, considering the financial situation that this country is in. So, he won't be #1, or #2 in the White House. Many others have served with distinction - (and Romney's father DID NOT promote communism - that was a real cheap shot). It is not really WHERE you serve your nation and others, but HOW.
Troops curse his name??? | 3:31 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
NOT HARDLY!!! We celebrate his fortitude in letting us finish the fight! Every Dem president in memory has left us(the military) a mess to clean up. This President let's us finish it!

The comments regularly coming from the Utah crowd is really disappointing.

You lib Utahns stop feeling so, how shall I say, enlightened by speaking out in crass fowl ways against decent people who Happen to be Mormons.

Look, just because you go out and drink beer on the weekends and don't go to church anymore, you don't need to "kick against the pricks" in everybody's face on these comment threads.

Romney is the BEST person for the job. You anti Mormon libs / exMormons are tiresome.
It is people like you that make Mormons in Utah paranoid to stand up for their beliefs -- worried they might offend one of you guys. How boring.
uh, Jody | 6:16 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Just wondering: why is it OK for you to hate and not OK for a "lib" to express an opinion? ... Being for or against Mitt Romney is not the great battle of good against evil ... It wouldn't matter if Romney was a member of no church, he would still be Mitt Romney ... And that's why he keeps shooting himself in the foot ... His arrogance and naked ambition are what reasonable people cannot stand about him ... Most of you Mitt worshipers, i would venture to guess, have never met the guy ... I have.

BTW: please leave the poor birds out of this ... if you mean "foul," don't say "fowl."
Nexu | 6:21 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
It is indeed interesting that Romney is saying that he wouldn't be happy in the Cabinet and it also sounded like he is not thinking about running for President in 2012.

Honestly though, would he really turn down an offer for a Cabinet position, especially if it's one of the key role ones? With the Presidency though, I think he will run when the time comes.
Money Talks | 6:28 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Mitt Romney is so good with money, he spent $40,000,000 on a wasted campaign. He outspent Mike Huckabee 20 to 1 in Iowa, only to be beat like a goverment mule.

Mitt Romney is a sorry politician if I ever saw one, not to mention he's a liberal.

He also legislated gay civil unions, which last I checked, violated the Church Handbook of Instructions.
McCain lost my vote | 6:56 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
A sincere THANK YOU to Romney for his example of leadership and service these past few years. He is a TREMENDOUS man of integrity, faith, leadership and service. He is a true statesman with a great deal of courage and wisdom.

In the end, McCain will regret his narrow reasons for not selecting Romney, and snubbing him at the RNC. It will cost him the election. The fact that McCain feels threatened by Romney is in-line with what I have always thought of McCain...a weezely, snide, career politician who will not be good for the country.

He brags about crossing the isle...well guess what? I am crossing the isle and voting Obama.

HATCH | 7:16 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I am listening to SENATOR HATCH stab ROMNEY in the back. It is truly a picture of how low a carpetbagger from Pennsylvannia will go to DROOL all over SARAH WORLD.

SOMEONE, ANYONE (read SARAH PALIN WANNA-BE'S) run against this FOOL. Isn't there a BEAUTY QUEEN somewhere that can replace this dinosaur?
Matt Connelly | 7:43 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I hope this isn't true. I hope Mitt is just being coy. I don't really care if he serves in a McCain administration. But I would very much like to see him run for President again.
anonymous | 8:17 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I don't blame Mitt for not wanting to accept a cabinet position from McCain. He just used him to help raise money for his campaign.McCain really can't stand him.He is jealous of Mitt because he knows Mitt is much more capable to be President than he himself. The only reason he's not is because a lot of the evangelicals wouldn't vote for a mormon.
Wise move Mitt! | 8:19 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Of course Mitt wont take any post offered to him!!! Thats what everyone says when they know that they are not wanted or invited to participate!!
Anonymous | 8:48 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008

Why would any have Obama for Prez when he donot
believe in slutting the American flag, and his v.p.
is about as big of a crooked as Obama is.Yes he is half Black, but is fater is Arba,so there you are Obama wants to be be President for what were he can help his people oversea and give them our money to support his people. I personal think he is one of the biggest jurke that i have every seen to run. That is why I personial think that McCain would make the best Presdient,He knows what the Armforces need, and to for being a P.O.W.that should even make his odds a hole lot better than Obama . There isn't nothing comming out of his mouth that is the truth.
Foul or fowl?? | 8:57 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I think either one would work.....ever smelled a chicken coop on a hot summer day? Same difference.
Like It Or Not, Libs | 9:09 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Romney is the man!

You call it hero worship. You can call it whatever you want.

I call it "recognizing the best candidate that ran".

Too bad the libs and paranoid mainstream Christian evangelicals freaked out over Romney. I guranantee that there will come a day when you'll realize your foolishness.

Hoping for Romney in 2012!
so what does that make you? | 9:19 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
a con? ... that has a nice ring to it ... actually, this has stopped being a mature conversation ... have fun..
Kathy | 11:18 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I can't believe anyone who considers themselves to love this country, have moral values (not be baby killers), etc. could even think about voting for Obama. We need to get off the attitude problem and get down to business. We have limited choices for president. The American people need to get some backbone and stand up and tell the next president what he will do and not let the president tell us what he will do. It's amazing what a mess a president and the congress together can do to mess up everything people in this country have worked for in the last couple of centuries. Do you believe in abortion on demand, gay "rights", taxes to support people who won't take care of themselves... or pro-life, God's form of marriage, lower taxes and people working hard to make it and saving the help for those who are trying and need it. It's kind of a no-brainer to me!
Larry Daines | 11:26 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Romney was by far the most qualified candidate in either party. We have become a nation where feelings trump considered thought. We will get what we deserve.
johntvalentine | 6:44 a.m. Sept. 3, 2008
I do believe, that the enemies of America, love to here Americas beloved citizens, belittle Americas President Bush. Shame on those citizens, shame I say. satan is having a party. I am not a Republican, but I love my country America. For those of you who's ignorance, betray Americas Commander and Chief, SHAME. We all can be gratefull for Americas Constitution and the freedom of speach !!!Democrates, Republicans and Independents will now vote for our next President John McCain and VP Sara Palin. Mitt Romney, when our Lord sees fit, in due time, will be our Cammander and Chief. A word to the wise is sufficent. United we stand, devided we fall !!!
Palin is Great | 7:41 a.m. Sept. 3, 2008
Sandra Palin was a great choice. She's a mover and shaker if you follow what's happening in Alaska. She surely exceeds anything that came out of Arkansas, if you know what I mean. (Bill Clinton)
how can anybody take | 7:21 p.m. Sept. 3, 2008
you guys seriously? ... "Sandra" Palin was a stupid choice by a reckless man ... I lived in Alaska FIFTEEN YEARS and I have watched people who could make it nowhere else thrive in Alaska ... and Sarah Palin (yep, Sarah) was involved with the Alaska Independence Party who want to SECEDE from the union ... Sarah Palin (yep, Sarah not Sandra) HATES America as many Alaskans do ... WAKE UP! ... and get your facts straight.

"
Between Gustav and left leaning media coverage, the RNC isn't going to get 50% of the buzz the DNC did."

Wonder why the RNC ratings are higher, then? Last night McCain beat Obama's speech by 500,000 views.

And for those that say McCain has "no chance", why are Obama and McCain now tied in the latest CBS poll?

If Obama is so "popular" then why has he had a 50% only once in the entire campaign?

Obama tends to lead by about 5 points in popular polls, and currently leads by about ten electoral votes. Once again this election will come down to ONE STATE. If Obama loses Michigan alone, McCain will be president.

I think Obama/Biden dems are gloating a bit early.
