Okay I officially do not want to ever see a comment from someone making fun of
the adoration people have for Obama, or sarcastically calling him a messiah, or
his supporters starstruck, or anything like that, until the DNEWS STOPS printing
dozens of ROMNEY articles every day. This idolotry of Mitt Romney is getting
disgusting

mccain should be ashamed of himself...not a better man suited to lead the
country if needed, and that possibility is very real, as well romney has
strengths in all of mccains weak areas. Mccain is just to stubborn and affraid
of having someone smarter than himself...im voting blue come election time.

...but I wouldn't vote for him. He changed drastically through the
campaign from a centrist Republican to the best imitation he could come up with
of an extreme right-wing nut. The whole issue of hunting and loving guns and
all of that was just sad. Instead of standing for something, he just came off
as a politician: ready to abandon one's own beliefs to appeal to whatever
the largest block of voters believes.
McCain won because he stuck with his beliefs for the most part, even though he has also started to appear less and less maverick.
Additionally, after seeing how close Romney is with the Bushes, I can't really support him in any way anymore. Please Utah, stop supporting President Bush. He's not a good man just because he goes to Church. The troops curse his name.

McCain could have done a lot worse than choosing Romney to be his running mate,
say by choosing the women he did pick? Why do I hear chants of "(Obama)
was right and McCain was wrong?" The VP choice was the best Obama could
have hoped for. I don't care how close the polls are now, there is no way
McCain will take the White House now. We needed somebody like Mitt Romney to
help McCain out on the economic issues he has no clue about.

I am puzzled with Romney's claim that he is not interested in a cabinet
position or in running again for President. On one hand, you have someone
extremely ambitious who ran for Senator of Massachussets against Teddy Kennedy
(almost made it), then Governor of the same State, then President of the U.S.,
then goes out of his way to support his former political opponent...and he would
do all this only out of an altruistic desire to support the GOP? Don't
tell me that after all this is over, he will just move to Florida to play golf
in one of these retirement places for millionaires!

I would like to commend Govenor Mitt Romney for the
excellent way he conducted himself during the Primaries. My husband and I were proud that he was so forthright and presented himself so well. We regret that he was not chosen for V.P. but that certainly does not diminish him in our eyes. We think he would be an excellent leader regardless of where he served. He is a very talented man. And he would have had our vote, for sure! Thanks Mitt!...

It is easy for Romney not to be interested in a position in a cabinet that
probably will not happen.

If Romney had stuck with his moderate beliefs, had not chased the conservative
right, had focused on his management skills and successes and his ability to
work across the aisle, and had taken the high road as Obama has done most the
time (which is why he is so popular), and if he had serious, courageous,
ambitious plans for solving our major problems, he would now be the Republican
candidate, and soon our president. And he would have been a great president.
As for the cabinet, if he's a true leader, he should go where he can best serve, whether he would enjoy it or not. With his skills, he could be a great cabinet member.

I think we found out McCains true colors. Too libral for Rebublican
conservatives. Everyone said Mitt was a flipflooper. I think McCain has flip
his brain on this one! Too good of friends with the same kind of person
(Lieberman). You can't be one party one time and another another time.
Spratling the fence is not a good thing in polictics. People have to know where
you stand. What you believe in.

As the beneficiary of his father's experience, no wonder he's not
interested in a cabinet position. I agree he might have won ahd he not affected
the neo-con position and stayed moderate. I don't see how he could back
out of that and reassue the moderate mantle at this point.

I like Mitt -- love the guy actually -- but can we please let go of the past,
embrace the present, and get some coverage of the Republican National Convention
as it formalizes the selection of the candidates who are actually going on to
represent the Republican party this year?
Elsewhere you read about anti-war protesters throwing bottles, slashing tires and shattering windows -- including those of a police car, and injuring an 80 year old woman delegate, and that there have been 56 arrests so far...
But here all you can find are stories like this patting on the back former candidates who didn't win the nomination, nor were selected as a vice presidential nominee.
Between Gustav and left leaning media coverage, the RNC isn't going to get 50% of the buzz the DNC did.

Let this be a lesson to all of my fellow members of the LDS church that the
Republican Party completely takes us for granted. Mormons were dismissed as a
cult by the evangelical community in the primaries, Mike Huckabee, McCain's
mother, and obviously by McCain himself. McCain could have sent a huge message
by selecting the most qualified person for VP - Mitt Romney.
All Mormons should vote for Obama - to send a message to the GOP that they can't continue to step on us while expecting our time, energy, money, and votes. If we don't stand up and say "no more" they will continue to disrespect us. Utah should go blue. Obama 2008!!

It is ironic that people seem uninterested or maybe they are unable to look at
facts, and do the math. One can count the changes of position, and the degree
they have changed for ALL the contestants, and then also count the things they
have done that worked for the good of the people, and the experience of success
and find that the totals speak more than the psyc. words of Obama. Mitt is a
class act that totals best in the good, and least in the bad but people let
their prejudices and the media hype get in the way. McCain and Palin are now our
last hope. Obama can't even be consistent in saluting the flag! How ironic
that the dems try to rip on Palin for lack of experience when she has MORE than
Obama, even without McCain adding in! -- I do wish Palin was for school vouchers
though! We need competition in education as the gov. with teachers unions has
almost destroyed our ed. system! As a sub teacher, I see we aren't
teaching what needs to be taught while so much is dumbed down and tenure keeps
BAD teachers in, and wages low.

I was a 2002 SLC Olympic volunteer and admired the way Mitt Romney and his staff
involved anyone who had a desire to serve in making the Olympics a success.
Mitt is a man who inspired us volunteers by lending a hand wherever and whenever
one was needed. He is the ultimate in graciousness and optimism. The
"mean" posts do not speak for me. Mitt is welcome in Utah at any
time!

The low level of intelligence of some of these blog replies never ceases to
amaze me. Many of them miss the point, are filled with mob-like detesation and
are real time-wasters to read. Others are good. The truth is that Mitt is a
man of integrity and principle, is sometimes imperfect in his words and actions
(he's human) and as of right now, he's sick and tired of the grind and
stupidity of some people - so he's going to take a back seat for a while.
Most of us would do the same thing if we were in his shoes. I'd like to
see just one of the above bloggers step up like he has.

Knowing Mitt personally, he's about as genuine as they come. He tells it
like it is and he's usually right. He has a lot of common sense and makes
decisions based on a high level of wisdom and intelligence. Because of this, I

news papers print less about him. The only thing he has in common with this

Mitt is qualified and competent - his undoing was his willingness to change
positions to fit the political context. He changed opinions on abortion, gay
marriage, taxes, health care, etc to fit the current political context. All
good politicians will listen to people and "give them what they want"
but great politicians will hold firm once in a while and not always change
positions to fit the prevailing political winds. Mitt transformed himself as a
moderate northeast republican governor to a red-meat conservative republican in
order to win votes. His undoing was he appeared to be a chameleon - changing
himself to fit the previaling political context. He appeared to be a phony,
lacking personal conviction and values. Too bad a person with his competence
and conviction to serving the public good succombed to the political temptations
of pandering.

In the future, Mitt will evaluate where he can be of the most meaningful
service. He'll either volunteer to serve in that capacity or he will accept
someone's offer to serve who has the insight to understand that having Mitt

in 2012 I would hope that the political pundits who have caused this debacle of
a presidential election will note that Mitt Romney is the only true
"CONSERVATIVE" candidate that was running for president in 2008. The
views and beliefs he held were and are the foundation of who he is. No doubt, he
will support McCain, but why should he be willing to support a presidency that
doesn't support his beliefs? His Father was denied the same way. I hope he
comes back again in 2012, after 4 years of Obama or McCain the country will be
pleading for someone like Romney to come in and clean up the mess.

He would be great in an advisory positition, whether as a cabinet member or not.
He is very savvy about financial matters, and our country could use someone
like that right now--badly, actually. I hope that if he is asked to fulfill
such a responsibility that he would be willing to do so. McCain and Palin would
need good cabinet personnel and advisors. I honestly do not know who to vote
for, so it is going to be a "vote by elimination" for me. I
DON'T want Obama in there, so the other choice is McCain. Either way, the
next 4 years will be tough. McCain would be the better choice on many levels.

Let's see, one of the two state-wide Utah newspapers covers an event at a
national political party's convention in Minnesota at which a man who took
90% of the Utah primary votes speaks to the Utah delegation at a breakfast
meeting. That actually does sound kind of like news to me beyond a Mormon
connection to the state, but then I'm just a simple man living in Maryland.
I'm sure his stepping in to lead the first profit-turning Olympics after
the scandal associated with the Utah organizing committee had absolutely nothing
to do with the adoration that the people of Utah have for Mitt. Nothing at all.
But then, I'm just a simple man living in Maryland--I wouldn't know
anything about that.

TO Whitman: My country matters to me too much to "send a message" to
the Republican Party. I hoped Mitt would be the nominee, but he didn't
make it. I don't like the way Mike Huckabee behaved and I wish
Evangelicals weren't so misinformed about the LDS Church. But, Mitt did a
great amount of good in changing perceptions and I think he'll have another
chance in the future.
I'm supporting McCain as a great man and a geniune American hero. I think Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air--she's great.

I would like to invite those who oppose gay marriage (who support heterosexual
marriage) to post comments on newspapers in California where the real battle is
being waged. Each day take a few minutes and google news search Proposition 8
(you might have to click NEWS if you do a regular google search), and then read
the latest news and post a comment in a California newspaper supporting
Proposition 8. This is critical and the vote is only a few short months away.

Mitt Romney is honest, forthright, and has expressed his opinion as requested. Has he changed? Of course. Who of us have never changed our opinion about something? If we haven't, we're probably too pigheaded to admit it anyway.
Obama pushes for socialism and bigger government control; McCain pushes for war and victory; the majority of the people push for lower gas and food prices, and fiscal responsibility from local, state, and federal government. Obama wants change, great, but changing direction just to change isn't wise when you have no idea where to go once you change.
What do we do? Elect public officials, when we have the chance, who will represent the voice of the people, for the people, and by the people. Until then, we face an incredibly challenging situation that we must get control of, or we will truly encounter far worse trails than we currently encounter.

Why would ANYONE want to be in a McCain cabinet if Palin is the calibre of his
decisions? It's going to be the worst administration EVER in the country
and no sensible person with a hope of a political future will want any part of
it!
