Altaï¿½s seniors have not lost one game in their age group all of their high school careers. Undefeated as sophomores and undefeated as juniors. Now they are 2-0 as seniors. They are not inexperienced!!! Deseret News needs to quit saying that about them. Show me one other team in Utah with that same high school record and especially 5A teams. You won't find another 5A school that can say that. Unfortunately the there isnï¿½t a state championship trophy for sophomore and junior seasons or they would already own it. Do you still call them inexperienced? Add their little league play into this and I would almost bet the majority of these kids havenï¿½t lost more than 5 games total since they were 8 year olds.

oh man.. will the Alta moms and dads stop talking about their freshman and sophomore records.. whatever they were doesn't matter.. they're referring to lack of returning VARSITY starters from last years team. again, it is all a MUTE point.. so let it go.. experience or inexperienced they are doing well.

PV offered to travel north and play both Cottonwood and Timpview in a preseason game. CWood jumped on it and Wong never responded. Draw your own conclusions. Does TV owe PV a game? Of course not. Obviously TV can do whatever it likes. But, the excuse that TV has already beaten PV is completely lame; that was last year. Different year, different teams.

Logan would stack up against any team in the state. I know you are saying we are only 3a but we have the best QB in the state and we aren't afraid of nobody.

and "offering to travel north" is also slightly off base. Cottonwood will "travel down south" next year.

It's just a simple home and home, not unlike any other. No need to make it sound like a martyr situation.

With that said I am happy it's happening, and I am going. It will be a lot better game than BYU vs. some directional University.

Grand - SS game is going to be a great game. Grand has had about 4 move-in's which are big contributors to the team. Rarely do these rural areas get many move-in's. Still this will be a real test to see if the line is solid. They have speed, receivers and big boys up front. SS on the other hand seems to always have good linebackers. I hear that their QB is looking solid and has an arm. Grand's 1st string QB has the best arm but is out. Their 2nd string QB has been tearing it up though and may stay as their starter. So all in all this is going to be a dogfight. Question to both teams - who wants it more?

Alta has four returning studs and the rest of the team must be inexperienced. We will leave at that. Bingham did Alta look inexperienced to your team? Take special teams out of the picture and they killed Bingham. Put special teams into the picture and they still beat Bingham anyway you look at it. Utahï¿½s two best teams in the state played last Friday night and only one can be the winner. Bingham will be back in the playoffs and they will do very well. I just hope Alta gets some experienced before then so they can join them. Get real, Alta is experienced! Donï¿½t you know, Alta just reloads each year. Go ALTA

Why isn't anyone talking about Syracuse? They return every starter on both sides of the ball, granted it was the JV squad last year, but playing against the bigger, tougher, faster kids last year has only made them better. Now with all the kids having a year of varsity ball under their belt, they are ready to explode. Watch out...cause Syracuse is going to surprise a lot of people!

Never ceases to amaze me what someone will read into a simple statement of fact. "Martyr situation?" What in the world are you talking about? I wasn't implying in the least that Cottonwood wouldn't come south. I was simply giving Hosner props for initiating the game and offering to come north first, even though he's only got two home games this year. I also give Cottonwood props for agreeing, because very few northern teams are willing to come south and they could have ignored the challenge just like Timpview.

Syracuse? Really? Their young and inexperienced and played two "somewhat" tough teams so far. Wait until they start playing in their region (Northridge, Davis, Layton, Clearfield, get it?) and we'll see what you have to say then. They won't be so highly touted for beating practical nobody's. You want to get recognized as a school, start winning your region. Jones (Syracuse coach) couldn't win a region title with Woods Cross in 4-A, what makes you think he can do it in 5-A?

I am glad that Cottonwood is playing Layton and PV this year in the preseason, They are probably the best 2 teams CW will face until the Playoffs this year. Whether they win Both or go 1-1 is the Big Game experience gained from playing these top Teams. The Layton Game could have easily gone to Layon "IF" they could catch the ball, But they didn't. CW made their own mistakes as well in the Layton game, fumble inside the 30 and plenty of mental mistakes. Just glad to get out of there with a win. Layton is a very good team and I think they will roll through region 1 to another title if they can fix the mistakes. PV thanks for coming to SLC to play CW as this will be a great game to be at this Friday night and good Luck to both teams.

C Wood fan do you even know your own school? It was the last time you were in state. I would hope that you could remember that. All of us at Davis respected Cottonwood so much after that game. It was a remarkable game and any team could've won. You're putting that respect in jeopardy with your critical remarks.

I think judge probably should have dropped at least one spot. Ogden who is on the uprise battled with them until the very end of the game. Either ogden needed at least one vote for the top 25 or Judge should've dropped at least one spot. Good job ogden

Alex heart?... why you bloggin about yourself?.. timp... please say yes when the top 5 a teams ask to play you in preseason. Bingham and alta both have for the past 3 years. o and being 5a does mean u have more kids hints more talent but doesnt mean your the best. that is very true so timp step up and play 5a in the preseason. but i aint say nothin about being the best in the state till that happens. but as for your league then run your mouth.

Who cares what so-n-so says anonymously on a blog site? Get a life! Or you do you still want to be coaching high school in another 20 years?

OK..ok..ok.. we get it. I have seen at least 10 postings on the fact that the Alta Seniors did not loose as Sophs or JV last year and varsity this year. Great....I am sure you are a proud parent or brother or friend or whatever. They are the team to beat...they may win it all. Frankly, I think they will. But for the sanity of everyone who reads these postings stop with the 'They are 18-0'. Who cares. The Bingham JV is unbeaten and were unbeaten as Sophs I believe. ...Oh one more thing. Alex Hart, or whoever is his PR guy...stop with postings about how great he is.

Alta is not very expirenced this year they only have four returning starters. but they are doing well. i think that they will do well this year but i must i agree with hawk fan. i think that alta will go undefeated in preseason and be overconfident and lose to skyline that first region game.

It is good to see a few of my fellow MANTI folks speak up. THIS IS THE YEAR! Manti will not be denied. We have players just like alta and timpview. Our boys could DOMINATE ANY TEAM in the state this year. 2A will not even be a problem. Yes, even the DN's top ten can beat us this year. Let alone coach sherriffs boy's from millard. The braves of north summit will not stand up to MANTI. So bring it on alta, timpview, pineview and yes, little old kanab. Come on kanab! I mean really! you couldn't even beat the bunch from san juan. This is the year!

Manti is 2A, untill they schedule a game with the bigboys instead of the people who see more cattle than people day-to-day then you are going to continue to be ignored on this post and ever other. I thought they played 8 man football down there. WOW, they must be awesome. Somebody better call coach Hamilton and warn him not to schedule Manti. If they have players as good as Alta, PV or Timpview, I would look for like 3-5 D1 players. Come to think of it, do they have any good DBs? I heard Bingham was looking for a safety and maybe a corner or 2. Give them a call. JK Bingham....see ya in the playoffs. Go Hawks!

Just because those teams are 5a doesnt mean they have nothin. I wish we got the chance to play you we would show all of you whats up, and really how bad all you "dominant" teams really are!!

I just have one thing to say about this whole bingham-alta rivalry.
last weeks game really didnt matter cause when playoffs roll around bingham will be the ones that have something to prove. they are the ones that have something to fight for, more so than alta. and all this talk about how alta "dominated" in last weeks game is just a bunch of crap. sure their defence walked all over binghams offence, but until the last half of the fourth quarter bingham man handled alta's offence. now that the game is over i think we should just stop focusing in on the past games and seasons and look forward to play offs cause it is going to be one crazy game when bingham and alta meet up again.

Bingham will not be in the mix this year, Sorry. You will have to wait another year. Bingham will make the playoffs, but they will lose inthe first round.
Final four this year: Alta,Skyline,Jordan,Northridge. Yep, thats 3 teams from region 2. Mark my words!!!

I mean this sincerely Bingham, Alta and Timpview's JV teams would roll you by 5 TDs. I have lived in Utah for 18 years, I have heard every argument about who is the best in Utah from Skyline, Northridge, Alta, Timpview, Bingham, Jordan, Brighton, Viewmont, Layton.....and a few others. NEVER has Ogden come up. PLEASE. Go schedule the Mantis, or whatever they are called, I hear they are also the best. Forget the Alta v. Timpview match up. The game we all want to see is Ogden v. Manti.
