Great Night | 10:52 a.m. Aug. 31, 2008
What a great night for High school football in Southern Utah thanks to all the teams that participated and thanks to Gator for putting this on. I got to see several games. I watched the first half of the PV game PV looked good can't believe the final it looked like the Panthers were in control, and then headed to Canyon to see Northridge my alma mater they didn't fair so well, 2 things that didn't make the night so great was the knights falling apart in the second half and then having to listen to the announcer I think he thought he was on the Radio because he had a comment for everything, we all could see what was happening on the field. SSSHHHHHHH. Anyway, it was a lot of fun hopefully they'll do it again next year. Got to love those Knights good luck the rest of the way!
Positive Match | 3:04 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
This was a great game for Pv, they were tested with a whole bunch of speed. I really wish the passing game can start to role though, or else it will be a hard road if they dont have some sort of passing threat.
Fast | 3:26 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
I was impressed with how PV controlled the line of scrimmage against Dominguez. I haven't seen Cottonwood or Timpview play this year, but I'd wager a year's salary they're not as fast as Dominguez. Their speed to the edge was unbelievable. But, their offensive and defensive concepts are really primitive and negate the athletes they have. Cottonwood is better coached and more disciplined, and PV won't get away with a bundle of turnovers next week. I gotta give it up to both PV and Cottonwood for scheduling a real preseason (unlike Timpview). Having seen PV this year and from what I've heard about Cottonwood, the matchup next week should be a really good one. Timpview is gonna get tested this year.

PV Detractors? | 3:56 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Wow, before the PV-Dominguez game, there were alot of PV detractors predicting how Dominguez was going to make PV's 'lax' defense pay; pretty quiet out there boys. The PV defensive character was tested to the limit--right down to 2:58 left when PV's offense turned the ball to give the Dons another shot. That last defensive stand was mighty. So hats off to Coach Crowshaw and his Panther-D for a night of hard-nosed, hard-hitting football.
Uh Oh | 4:05 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Uh oh, 'Positive Match' -- make any mention of the passing game and someone out there will think you have a 'love affair' with Robert Evans, and that's a no-no, right? Evans underwent ACL reconstructive surgery in Salt Lake, then was driven 4 hours south so as to be in the lockerroom pre-game, to fulfill his duty as captain at the toss, and to be on the sidelines for his teammates throughout the game. So, no, 'love affair' boy--we're not going to 'stop with Evans already'--he's at the heart and in the heart of his team.
love pv | 4:21 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
love pv but passing game definetly needs work every screen pass was thrown over the head of the reciever they still came up with a few of them even with robert out there it wouldnt be much different i think the real problem is marinko graguated and he was a better passer and ence is a better runner last years team looked to pass first this years team looks run first
RM | 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
As usual, some fans/commenters from PV can't seem to say anything without bringing TV into the discussion. And then making the insinuation that they beat a team (Dominguez) that is faster than Timpview (or Cottonwood). And, oh yeah, that person hadn't yet seen TV play but went ahead and made that comment anyway.

PV Fans: Yes, you have a very good team. Yes, you could very well be the strongest, the fastest, the tallest, the biggest, the smartest, the best coaches, the best fans, the best everything. Win your games, celebrate and move on to the next game. Enough of the chest banging about how great you are and how TV is going to be tested, etc, etc.

Did TV ever say they didn't want to be tested? And so what if TV doesn't play Dominguez or whoever. They did play PV, they did play Cottonwood and they always have done well in the playoffs. Did playing those "Hard" teams make you better? Hopefully, yes.

Let the players play and if TV and PV meet again, then let the game decide who is best (for this year at least! - Since last year's results have already been decided 50-7).

Ya | 5:20 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
let the players, play do the talking for them. But, I personally have seen Timpview and Cottonwood play. There overall team speed is not comparable to that of the Dominguez players. That goes without saying that they are both better coached teams.
RE: RM | 5:40 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Maybe Timpview didn't say that they didn't want to be tested, but then again they refused to play Pine View in the preseason...
Dominguez was not ready | 5:44 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
They seemed to open up blind giving up 175 yards in 5 plays but then held them to 3 points in 2 1/2 quarters. the refs threw a lot of flags both ways but they affected Dominguez more because of their churn it out offense. Also they should have prepared their kids better. they were cramping all night. but they fought hard and i bet they will do well. I'd like to see a rematch.
Use Tight End | 6:23 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
PV's Tanner Wood is a legit threat and will figure in PV's pass attack more and more each game. PV's offense has to find a better scheme for utilizing Orr. He is a dangerous receiver and to give him only 1-2 touches a game? The Dominguez defense was coming hard, their middle backer within a yard of their defensive line, so why no 'hot read' quick passes to Orr in the gap just behind the MLB? It was there all night. Wood and Orr can carry the load, but the scheme has to favor them more.
Southernutah | 6:52 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
RM You are the only one banging your chest. The reference was made to the point that TV would not schedule games with PV and Cottonwood etc. The feeling is that the win streak is to important to jeopordize by playing strong teams. The 28 straight is the wong thing to work for.

I believe the CW and PV game will a good one as both teams are well coached and have talent on the field. I hope no one gets hurt and the game is as good as it appears. Prediction the team that scores the most will win. Good luck to both.
Dear RM | 7:28 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
What a great moniker for a TV fan. Seriously, why do you people get so defensive? Is it the 22 out of boundary kids you won with last year? (It's an established fact, so please don't say you're offended). I don't see any Cottonwood fans on here with their shorts in a bunch, just because someone suggested that Dominguez' team speed is better. It was much better than PV's as well. TV won the 4A championship last year, so, yeah, they might come up in a discussion of the best teams in 4A. Oh, and please don't start accusing PV fans of excessive "chest banging;" TV owns the rights to that one (e.g. "our team is better than some junior college teams").
PV fan | 8:16 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Watched game last night. PV very, very lucky to have pulled out the win. They jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead then really sputtered after that. Offense made too many mistakes. Defense made a few that gave them some easy TD's. At the end, PV woke up and held them off. PV must play better next week to beat Cottonwood. Also, Dominguez may have not had as good as team as last year. All sports at their school this year are banned from any post season play. Maybe that's why they had such a small group on the sidelines.
Stats | 8:34 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
PV had the ball for 9:55 to Dominguez"s 38:05 Not a bad performance for having the ball for such a short time. This also means that PV's defense worked their butts off for this win.

Anonymous | 9:07 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
once again, all PV can do is talk talk talk talk talk.

yeah ya won.

QUIT TALKIN ABOUT IT.

all you need to do to be respected by teams like TV and C-wood, is to just SHUT UP! and play.

that's all anybody wants from you right now.
dominguez playoffs | 9:33 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
New head coach came in august 6(training camp). Old head coach was forced from his position because he is a retired teacher and not on campus. New coach brings new plans and finds out the hard way, can't change a tight split to a spread in 3 weeks( just ask michigan). So they went back to the double wing and the plays were just not crisp. three fumbles on pitches. This dominguez team will rebound. They battled all night( after they woke up).
Anonymous | 10:47 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Why does timpview need to play a tough preseason?

do you think they need to play PV or CW? No. Also, do you think they respect PV enough to think they are better than Pleasant Grove, Lone Peak or even Spanish Fork. Besides SF, both PG and LP are better than PV anyways

whatever TV is doing works and come playoff time they'll be ready. Wouldn't be surprised if they pound PV 50-0 again (and yes, scoring on the JV with your starters doesn't count).

And yes, they might not have the speed of Dominiquez, but they'll beat up and out-physical you guys again.
wow | 6:55 a.m. Sept. 1, 2008
I think it's interesting that anyone from TV feels compelled to read the PV blog at all!

Also, to Great Night, on behalf of So. Utah, sorry about Snow Canyon's announcer! Fingernails on a chalk board! He's probably a great guy, but SC folks need to do everyone that plays them at their house a favor and bench him. Last year PV played them at DSC, so we had to put up with his shtick on an even loader, clearer p.a. system. Thank goodness we're home against them this year!
CWOOD Fan | 11:14 a.m. Sept. 1, 2008
Brillant comment, WOW~~

It's so cool that PV fans don't read or comment on any blogs EXCEPT those pertaining to PV.

Such discpline and committment!!

News Flash, WOW - PV fans read everything as well including TV blogs, CWood Blogs, etc, etc, AND they make comments as well just like everyone else.

And, what's more, people reading blogs from other schools and then commenting on those blogs are usually just responding to something they feel the need to correct or defend about their particular school.

Thing is, you already know that. You just wanted to make a holier than thou comment.

PV weak | 11:41 a.m. Sept. 1, 2008
Playing PG or LP in the first three games is a lot tougher than if they'd scheduled a pineview. Why would timpview want another 50-0 game in the preseason when they can play someone who's good.
YA | 12:01 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
Seriously everyone is so riled about what happened last year. I can tell you as a team Pineview holds Timpview's play on the field with admiration. How they run their program is objective, but unless there is any more game sanctions like there has been in the past. You have to assume they are within the rules. And until the rules change (which they need to)we must allow the present speak for itself. You can bring up past games and previous opponents, but until you play the games everything is pure speculation. Last time I checked we still have to play the games. And as for speculation who wil be playing who and when in the playoffs(trib). The UHSAA draws the seeding in and formats region place accordingly. They decided to wait until closer to playoff time due to throwing matches or weighing down one side of a bracket. like they do have in other sports, in order to keep parity.
Anonymous | 12:38 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
i agree. pv fans are saying timpview scheduled weak.. pg and lone peak always play timpview tough.. they are much better opponents than PV. why would timpview want to schedule pv.. they already have toole, payson, provo and springville in their region. they already blow those teams out by 50 a game. why add another one of those.

a mediocre 5A program (such as LP, PG) is always substantially better than the top tier 4A teams.

PV Guy | 1:07 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
CWOOD FAN: When you're right, you're right. It is sanctimonious for any PV fan to complain about TV reading and commenting on PV blogs. PV fans all do exactly the same. We can all have fun sticking it to each other without getting nasty, mean or arrogant. No doubt, TV fans are tired of hearing about schedule and stealing athletes and PV is tired of hearing about last year's game. Let's just talk football...the greatest game on the planet.
TO: Anonymous | 3:45 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
You"TV" and C-Wood are the top tier 4-A teams.
I'm from St.George and Pineview should just shut up and play .They have W-Wood and Vegas high to play still. Get these two done and then maybe talk. If you are 4 and 0 after that then talk all want.
Philip Michelsen | 4:32 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
Note to DN: you have the box scores reversed giving Dominguez the win instead of Pine View. You may want to fix that so that you have the correct W/L standings.
Buck | 6:26 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
Hey Pine View People! Stop bragging. I'm sick of you always saying how good your team is, and how good your schedule is.

TV is superior in every way. Not only do our fans never brag, but we have the best team in the state, our schedule is arguably the hardest that has ever been played in state history, and our coaching staff gives an annual clinic for NFL coaches, to show them what they're doing wrong. So Pine View, seriously, all this bragging shows a lack of class.

/Sarcasm
Re: Wow | 6:47 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
You couldnt be more dead on about the SC announcer it is long time area high school coach Rob Ward. Who has retired from coaching and is now announcing. Don't worry though he is not SC's announcer he was a last minute fill in, thank goodness!
No Brag..Just Fact | 7:00 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
I agree Buck, bragging in general is classless but bragging before you ever really win anything is really bad.Pine View needs to beat the big boys in 4A before they can say a peep.It starts this Friday against Cottonwood. And it finishes with a state championship.Unless that is accomplished Pine View and the soutern Utah teams in general will get no respect,no open enrollment excuses,no we have to travel more than other teams,no nothing. You have to win with the rules that are in place,no excuses, then and only then can any bragging start!
Embarrassed for TV | 8:54 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
Hey Buck - Are you serious? We really believe that TV coaches, who, if they are educators, get paid peanuts -are teaching the NFL coaches who make hundreds of thousands a year how to do their job! And you say PV's bragging shows a lack of class... Buck, you're a joke.
Thank you Wow... | 9:22 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
They had me worried...I thought the same people that were hiring the coaching staff were hiring the announcers.
um... for "embarrassed for TV" | 9:42 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
obviously they don't teach sarcasm in the schools in St. George..

the previous post was apparently trying to rip on TV..

i can't wait until they smash you guys up again.

Come off it TV | 9:52 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
When are you going to stop with the "win with the rules in place" nonsense? The open enrollment system results in some schools being "open" and "attracting" (what a euphemism) some twenty plus out-of-boundary kids (that would be Timpview) for its football roster, while competing with closed schools that are required to play with in boundary kids (the St. George schools. The system is obviously flawed in that regard and results in a very unfair competition. Sure, having the huge advantage of out-of-boundary athletes is not illegal per se (assuming no recruiting...which assumes a lot), but it is outrageous that Timpview fans then have the brass to brag about their team, as if the playing field were level. Win with your own kids and earn the right to brag. Fact is, if you played Pine View or any of the St. George schools even up, with your own kids, they'd kick your butt and you know it.
NOT ROB WARD | 9:59 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
To Re:Wow

I was sitting underneath the announcer and looked back several times during the game to see who was announcing, because he was being so goofy. It was absolutely not Mr. Ward. I know Mr. Ward very well, and not only was that not his voice, he isn't that lame. Last year at Dixie College the announcer was just as obnoxious. Mr. Ward taught and coached at Dixie, belive me, don't pin that embarrassing announcing on him.
re: NOT ROB WARD | 11:20 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
I hate to say it but it was him, he'll get better it was probably his first time announcing after coaching all those years at Dixie. I hope that he does announce the SC games because none of you will come and support your team and they might not play as good without the fan support.
re: Thank you Wow | 10:44 a.m. Sept. 2, 2008
no need to worry the bad apples are now gone and they can concentrate on the announcing to make sure that never happens again.
Interesting | 1:33 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
Hey, C-Wood, just checked the Timpview article and I couldn't see any PV fans blogging there (at least no obvious ones). Didn't see any on your article either.
football coach | 1:56 p.m. Sept. 2, 2008
I don't blame TV for not scheduling harder opponents. Why should they? They keep winning state championships. As for Pleasant Grove being better than Pine View or Cottonwood, I don't think so. I've seen all three teams and they're all good, but I don't think PG is in the same caliber as Cwood or PV. I watched PV at Utah State absolutely dominate against PG and even Jordan. They looked pretty good to me. Cottonwood is a very good football team as well and I think they will give any team in the state a run for their money. That said, TV is still the best team in the state in my opinion in any classification.
wow | 9:16 a.m. Sept. 3, 2008
Whoa! I made an assumption that the announcer over at SC Saturday was the same guy who announced the PV-SC game last year. I know it was NOT Mr. Ward last year because he was assisting on the SC sideline. I know Rob Ward and he's a great man. That said, it's pretty cowardly to throw names under the bus anonymously. Like I said, the guy that announced last year (no name) is probably a great guy. He just talked way too much, like it was his duty to entertain everyone, rather than just announce the game.

"Interesting": I was reading the Top 25 blogs and CWOOD is a wild man over there! My point (take note CWOOD and PV Fan) about TV, or anyone for that matter, on others blogs was "Who Cares!!!" what anyone says about your program. I doubt any of these comments come from folks who make a direct impact anyway, i.e. coaches or players. I made an observation based on that premise. Unlike you, "interesting", I have not read TV's or CW's blogs because I don't care what people say about them! I Just hope we see a great, injury free game...which PV wins!
Hey, Wow | 10:23 a.m. Sept. 4, 2008
I wasn't talkin about the Top 25 article and blogs...I was talkin about the TV and CW articles and blogs and just pointing out that I didn't see PV fans on either. CWOOD's point was that PV fans were being hypocrites and I didn't see the evidence. Sure, most fans read their rivals articles, and that's not offensive. It's when they get on and talk trash and nonsense that they show a lack of class.
To: Wow | 11:43 p.m. Sept. 4, 2008
No one said RW was a good guy I just said it was him announcing at SC on Saturday. It sounded from your blog you were at the Northridge/Crespy game. You're right he was on the sideline last year coaching and it wasn't him announcing last year.
wow to interesting | 12:33 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
I'm on your side my friend. We're saying pretty much the same thing. I looked at my last comments and the quotation marks make it appear as if I'm mocking you. Not so. Just pointing out I was directing the comment back to your earlier observation, which was indeed an "interesting" one! Also, I knew you weren't talking about the Top 25 deal, I was just letting you know you could find more "interesting" and lively banter from our friend over there as well...
Pine View - Cottonwood | 6:54 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
Evenly matched, period. Game decided by? Least mistakes. Both sides can run, both defenses can hit, so it will come down to mistakes...and this time, PV's 'D' and a PV field goal will win it. Prediction: Pine View 30-Cottonwood 28.
