What a great night for High school football in Southern Utah thanks to all the teams that participated and thanks to Gator for putting this on. I got to see several games. I watched the first half of the PV game PV looked good can't believe the final it looked like the Panthers were in control, and then headed to Canyon to see Northridge my alma mater they didn't fair so well, 2 things that didn't make the night so great was the knights falling apart in the second half and then having to listen to the announcer I think he thought he was on the Radio because he had a comment for everything, we all could see what was happening on the field. SSSHHHHHHH. Anyway, it was a lot of fun hopefully they'll do it again next year. Got to love those Knights good luck the rest of the way!
This was a great game for Pv, they were tested with a whole bunch of speed. I really wish the passing game can start to role though, or else it will be a hard road if they dont have some sort of passing threat.
I was impressed with how PV controlled the line of scrimmage against Dominguez. I haven't seen Cottonwood or Timpview play this year, but I'd wager a year's salary they're not as fast as Dominguez. Their speed to the edge was unbelievable. But, their offensive and defensive concepts are really primitive and negate the athletes they have. Cottonwood is better coached and more disciplined, and PV won't get away with a bundle of turnovers next week. I gotta give it up to both PV and Cottonwood for scheduling a real preseason (unlike Timpview). Having seen PV this year and from what I've heard about Cottonwood, the matchup next week should be a really good one. Timpview is gonna get tested this year.
Wow, before the PV-Dominguez game, there were alot of PV detractors predicting how Dominguez was going to make PV's 'lax' defense pay; pretty quiet out there boys. The PV defensive character was tested to the limit--right down to 2:58 left when PV's offense turned the ball to give the Dons another shot. That last defensive stand was mighty. So hats off to Coach Crowshaw and his Panther-D for a night of hard-nosed, hard-hitting football.
Uh oh, 'Positive Match' -- make any mention of the passing game and someone out there will think you have a 'love affair' with Robert Evans, and that's a no-no, right? Evans underwent ACL reconstructive surgery in Salt Lake, then was driven 4 hours south so as to be in the lockerroom pre-game, to fulfill his duty as captain at the toss, and to be on the sidelines for his teammates throughout the game. So, no, 'love affair' boy--we're not going to 'stop with Evans already'--he's at the heart and in the heart of his team.
love pv but passing game definetly needs work every screen pass was thrown over the head of the reciever they still came up with a few of them even with robert out there it wouldnt be much different i think the real problem is marinko graguated and he was a better passer and ence is a better runner last years team looked to pass first this years team looks run first
As usual, some fans/commenters from PV can't seem to say anything without bringing TV into the discussion. And then making the insinuation that they beat a team (Dominguez) that is faster than Timpview (or Cottonwood). And, oh yeah, that person hadn't yet seen TV play but went ahead and made that comment anyway.
PV Fans: Yes, you have a very good team. Yes, you could very well be the strongest, the fastest, the tallest, the biggest, the smartest, the best coaches, the best fans, the best everything. Win your games, celebrate and move on to the next game. Enough of the chest banging about how great you are and how TV is going to be tested, etc, etc.
Did TV ever say they didn't want to be tested? And so what if TV doesn't play Dominguez or whoever. They did play PV, they did play Cottonwood and they always have done well in the playoffs. Did playing those "Hard" teams make you better? Hopefully, yes.
Let the players play and if TV and PV meet again, then let the game decide who is best (for this year at least! - Since last year's results have already been decided 50-7).
let the players, play do the talking for them. But, I personally have seen Timpview and Cottonwood play. There overall team speed is not comparable to that of the Dominguez players. That goes without saying that they are both better coached teams.
Maybe Timpview didn't say that they didn't want to be tested, but then again they refused to play Pine View in the preseason...
They seemed to open up blind giving up 175 yards in 5 plays but then held them to 3 points in 2 1/2 quarters. the refs threw a lot of flags both ways but they affected Dominguez more because of their churn it out offense. Also they should have prepared their kids better. they were cramping all night. but they fought hard and i bet they will do well. I'd like to see a rematch.
PV's Tanner Wood is a legit threat and will figure in PV's pass attack more and more each game. PV's offense has to find a better scheme for utilizing Orr. He is a dangerous receiver and to give him only 1-2 touches a game? The Dominguez defense was coming hard, their middle backer within a yard of their defensive line, so why no 'hot read' quick passes to Orr in the gap just behind the MLB? It was there all night. Wood and Orr can carry the load, but the scheme has to favor them more.
RM You are the only one banging your chest. The reference was made to the point that TV would not schedule games with PV and Cottonwood etc. The feeling is that the win streak is to important to jeopordize by playing strong teams. The 28 straight is the wong thing to work for.
I believe the CW and PV game will a good one as both teams are well coached and have talent on the field. I hope no one gets hurt and the game is as good as it appears. Prediction the team that scores the most will win. Good luck to both.
What a great moniker for a TV fan. Seriously, why do you people get so defensive? Is it the 22 out of boundary kids you won with last year? (It's an established fact, so please don't say you're offended). I don't see any Cottonwood fans on here with their shorts in a bunch, just because someone suggested that Dominguez' team speed is better. It was much better than PV's as well. TV won the 4A championship last year, so, yeah, they might come up in a discussion of the best teams in 4A. Oh, and please don't start accusing PV fans of excessive "chest banging;" TV owns the rights to that one (e.g. "our team is better than some junior college teams").
Watched game last night. PV very, very lucky to have pulled out the win. They jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead then really sputtered after that. Offense made too many mistakes. Defense made a few that gave them some easy TD's. At the end, PV woke up and held them off. PV must play better next week to beat Cottonwood. Also, Dominguez may have not had as good as team as last year. All sports at their school this year are banned from any post season play. Maybe that's why they had such a small group on the sidelines.
PV had the ball for 9:55 to Dominguez"s 38:05 Not a bad performance for having the ball for such a short time. This also means that PV's defense worked their butts off for this win.
once again, all PV can do is talk talk talk talk talk.
yeah ya won.
QUIT TALKIN ABOUT IT.
all you need to do to be respected by teams like TV and C-wood, is to just SHUT UP! and play.
that's all anybody wants from you right now.
New head coach came in august 6(training camp). Old head coach was forced from his position because he is a retired teacher and not on campus. New coach brings new plans and finds out the hard way, can't change a tight split to a spread in 3 weeks( just ask michigan). So they went back to the double wing and the plays were just not crisp. three fumbles on pitches. This dominguez team will rebound. They battled all night( after they woke up).
Why does timpview need to play a tough preseason?
do you think they need to play PV or CW? No. Also, do you think they respect PV enough to think they are better than Pleasant Grove, Lone Peak or even Spanish Fork. Besides SF, both PG and LP are better than PV anyways
whatever TV is doing works and come playoff time they'll be ready. Wouldn't be surprised if they pound PV 50-0 again (and yes, scoring on the JV with your starters doesn't count).
And yes, they might not have the speed of Dominiquez, but they'll beat up and out-physical you guys again.
I think it's interesting that anyone from TV feels compelled to read the PV blog at all!
Also, to Great Night, on behalf of So. Utah, sorry about Snow Canyon's announcer! Fingernails on a chalk board! He's probably a great guy, but SC folks need to do everyone that plays them at their house a favor and bench him. Last year PV played them at DSC, so we had to put up with his shtick on an even loader, clearer p.a. system. Thank goodness we're home against them this year!
Brillant comment, WOW~~
It's so cool that PV fans don't read or comment on any blogs EXCEPT those pertaining to PV.
Such discpline and committment!!
News Flash, WOW - PV fans read everything as well including TV blogs, CWood Blogs, etc, etc, AND they make comments as well just like everyone else.
And, what's more, people reading blogs from other schools and then commenting on those blogs are usually just responding to something they feel the need to correct or defend about their particular school.
Thing is, you already know that. You just wanted to make a holier than thou comment.
