The Cougars went up 14-0 just two minutes later as Dennis Phaophongsavath picked off a Chris Peel pass and took it 30 yards for a touchdown.

Kearns' shutout win over Cyprus

Sonny Sudbury, who headed up Bingham before coming to Magna, has made great strides in nine years steering the Pirates' program back to respectability. RIGHT !!

I wonder why?

"Our reputation around the state is that we're from Magna and we're nobody,"

POOR COACHING!!!

All Sudbury did was run the clock when Cyprus was on offense he did not make one attempt to try and score, especially before half. The defense did good, but that low depth of the offense really showed and it did`nt help when have poor coaching calls coming from the sideline. What do you got lose you only have half of your team playing this season and you know it`s just going to be a down year anyway. SO GO FOR IT!!!

Concerned fan

Does anyone know what happened to Coach Cosper? Our prayers are with him & his family.

It is going to be a long year. kearns is not a good team and the schedule gets harder from here on out. how in the world are these kids going to be able to compete in 5a looking at the kids coming up, my guess is alot of them wont play knowing that they cannot compete and why go out and get beat up. Baseball should be okay just an earlier exit in the state tourney. what a shame.

The Cyprus fan comment above is SAD....Kearns is
2-0 beating Bingham and now Cyprus and he thinks
Kearns is not a good team....I think he is lving in the past....He needs to get a life. Kearns is improving every year under Coach Cosper and is building the "WINNING TRADITION".

He should be encouraging the kids playing football at Cyprus to get better...NOT...tell them to quit early play another sport....

Joking

I went to a football game and a fight broke out.

Magna

When it comes to football, respect is one thing Cyprus craves more than anything else.
The Pirates have often struggled to avoid finishing in the cellar throughout this decade. Matching the depth and talent of more prosperous Region 6 rivals is often an issue keeping Cyprus from setting sail for that elusive higher level.

Mac

Yes, I meant Brighton that Kearns defeated.
Kearns 2-0 GO COUGARS!!!!!!

Coug Fan

Hi Mac,
I like your way of thinking though!!! :)

brian

do you think khs can take state

Coug Fan

Hey Brian - Yes! Cougs can take state!

USC Fan

I have heard that Cosper is doing much better and is at home now. "Side Bar" It took a big man from "Texas" to rekindle the flames of success at Kearns High School. He did this by simply reinstating integrity, character and accountability as a way of life. We need to support him with a stronger effort so that this momentum will continue.

coug

After a Kearns running back was ejected for his involvement in a bench-clearing brawl in the second quarter against Cyprus on Friday, Toa Afatasi stepped it up.

CYP

The brawl came on the next Cyprus possession. Pirates running back Jordan Pulou threw an interception to Dominic Cagle at the Cyprus 30. Flags flew from every official and three players were ejected, including Vaenuku, Inoke Felila and Cyprus' George Thomas.

To Kearns Fan
